Musings

  • 3CP to start with. Little unsure with Wise Orator, but it does give me options
  • Everything pretty much WYSIWYG, with only a couple of "hidden" wargear due to the models (which I might change to basics tbh). Dropping the Scouts afforded the points for the extra Chaplain and the extra thunderhammers for the Forlorn Fury squad.
  • Options to Deep Strike some DC and/or put the DCDs in Strategic Reserves
  • Tacticals play the objectives sticky game, Forlorn squad to cause a distraction whilst the rest of the jump packs and DCD move up.

This force clashed with the Alpha Legion commanded by @Excessus over the weekend at Warhammer World. Give the size of the army and on a 6x4 (proper sized) table, an incursion mission was played from the BRB. CPs were adjusted (as the above was reverted to a battalion), the rule of three remained (rather than rule of two), and the only Primary and Secondary was that of the mission itself. Mission was Centre Ground. AL list was:

  • 2 x Venocrawlers
  • 1x Chaos Terminators
  • 1x Master of Possession
  • 2x Renegade Guard
  • 2x Legionnaires
  • 2x Hellbrute
  • 1x Chaos Lord in TDA

BA went first. One squad of DC Forlorned, jumped, and charged into a Venomcrawler, popped it, and followed up into the other and a MoP. They were eventually killed only to receive a subsequent wave T2 who had pushed up in the madness behind. Tacticals were playing the sticky game on objectives, a DCD appeared on the flank to pull some fire away from the rest, and so on. Terminators came down and did their thing, only to be charged by a fully buffed Lemartes. Combination of Only in Death and Visions of Sanguinius saw him annihilate the entire squad and we had to call it due to time at T4 - by which time I'd maxed out the primaries

It was a good, enjoyable game all the same that helped Excessus shake off the 40k rust and like many games at this level, it would have been entirely different if I went second. Will try to post some pics up later.
