More Chaos Characters

First, my most recent take on the arch-heretic, Miriael Sabathiel. The only other person who attempted to tackle this character on this forum broke her fluff even while claiming to worship it, so I'll just slip in here with my own version. ^^;

Miriael Sabathiel

Sabathiel843335493+/5++

Miriael Sabathiel is the only Sister of Battle to ever fall to the worship of Chaos. While initially she was tricked into doing the Chaos Gods' bidding, she quickly came to embrace the ways of Slaanesh, becoming fanatically devoted to spreading his message and perfecting her body and self. She is deeply mired in a bitter rivalry with Lucius the Eternal, who she feels to be little more than an over-dressed peacock who relies on his magical armour to survive instead of his imperfect bladework.

Blade of Perfect Focus:

The Blade of Perfect Focus was granted to Miriael by Slaanesh himself, and was the vehicle for her corruption. She found the original blade deep in the ruins of a shrine that her unit had been sent to reconsecrate when it was merely a shard of bone from a saint who had martyred himself to seal a daemonette away in his own body. Speaking with the saint's voice, the daemonette turned Miriael from the true path by whispering lies about her sisters' treacheries and the secrets it claimed lay buried in the church's past. Posing as an agent of the Emperor, it convinced the young Sister that it was her duty to destroy her Sisters and perfect her skill with blade and bolter for when the time came to expose the treacheries of the Ecclesiarch and return to the holy Emperor's side. The Blade of Perfect Focus is a close-combat weapon with the following profile;

Blade of Perfect Focus: Rng - S User +1 AP 2 SPECIAL Daemon, Perfect Purity*

Perfect Purity: An enemy suffering an unsaved wound from a weapon with the Perfect Purity rule immediately loses the effects of any bonuses it has received during gameplay, including the benefits of Combat Drugs, Pain Tokens, rolls on the Chaos Boons table, Psychic Blessings, Adaptive Tactics, and so on. However, a model carrying this weapon may not assault an enemy unit that does not contain at least one Character unless there are no such units in the opposing army.

Masochism and Cosmic Fate:

See Codex: Chaos Space Marines page 29

Master of Traitors:

Miriael Sabathiel is a Chaos Lord with the Mark of Slaanesh, and thus makes Noise Marine units Troops.

True Grit

Miriael's skill and daemonic boons are such that she can elect to use either of the following profiles with her Bolter;

RNG 24" S4 AP5 Rapid Fire

RNG 12" S4 AP5 Pistol

Reciprocal Hatred

Miriael hates and loathes her former Sisters - and they feel the same way about her! All units with the Acts of Faith Special Rule Hate Miriael, and vice versa.

Kol Sarek

Kol Sarek4544243103+/3++

Kol Sarek was once a Librarian of the Night Lords chapter. He gave himself over to Tzeentch when they began their long crusade against the False Emperor, however, dedicated himself to the God of Schemes. Unfortunately for him, or so he believed at the time, he was instead blessed by the God of Change, his once-varied powers narrowing in focus until he could only incite undilited chaos. In the many, many years since, however, he has learned to work around these limitations.

Shortly after his dedication, he began an abortive ascension to Daemon Prince. Deciding that he was not yet ready, however, he pitted Slaanesh against his Master in an effort to distract his attentions. The result was a pair of cloak-like, leathery wings spreading from his back and a touch more magic in his veins.

Force Dagger

Kol Sarek's Force Dagger is of a little-used design favoured by those psykers who have little talent for flashy fireballs or unnecessary explosions. It is a melee weapon with the following profile;

Force Dagger: RNG - S User AP 5 SPECIAL Force, Rending

Fragment of Immortality and Icy Aura

See Codex: Chaos Space Marines page 29

Master of the Claws:

Chosen units are a Troops choice in Kol Sarek's army. In addition, at the start of the game 1d3 units (chosen by the player) gain the Fear special rule.

Glide

Kol Sarek's wings are not fully formed - he cannot fly. However, he can use them to break his fall and avoid small pitfalls. Kol Sarek never has to test to Jump Down, and may in fact ignore any vertical distance travelled if he will end up on a lower level than he started. In addition, he has Move Through Cover. Should Kol Sarek ever achieve Dark Apotheosis, he has the Wings upgrade for free. Should he be cursed with Spawnhood, he becomes a Flying Monstrous Creature in addition to the usual rules, and retain the Champion of Chaos special rule. In both cases, he retains his Psionic Mastery Levels.

Psyker

Kol Sarek automatically generates Boon of Mutation and one Psychic Power from the Telepathy, Telekinesis or Divination schools.

Mabini the Herald

Mabini433323296+/6++

Mabini is a native of the Eldritch system, which falls under the dominion of the Order of Dusk, a Tzeentchian cult that masquerades as a dominion of the Ecclesiarchy. From a young age, Mabini knew that she had some limited psyker talent - a skill that was nurtured and carefully grown by a daemonic mentor bound into the automated communications cogitator that stood two miles out of her home village. When she came of age, Mabini underwent the ritual known as the Wefting, in which she was bound into the tapestry of the Warp as an Agent of Change. Usually, following the Wefting, an initiate would be inducted into the Order and go on to serve it directly, however Mabini's Wefting did not grant her a familiar. Instead, she took her leave of the Order, going out into the wider galaxy to spread the word of the Changer to the poor, abused men and women of the Imperium.

For preset Boons which simply grant one USR, maybe present them like "Masochism (Feel No Pain)" for convenience?

Miriael; Maybe increase her WS to 8? I like the idea of Lucius being comparatively sloppy; he loves pain and he always comes back to life, probably doesn't reach his full potential, so having her 1-up him in WS would be fun.

There've been other fallen Sisters more recently, although Miriael's probably the first - maybe instead of Noise Marine Master of Traitors, give her an allies-modifying rule? "A Chaos army including Miriael may take an Allied Detachment of Sisters of Battle as though they were Battle Brothers. Only models with the Acts of Faith rule and Vehicles may be chosen, and these all exchange Acts of Faith for the Mark of Slaanesh." (Not that all fallen Sisters would be Slaaneshi, but those lead by Miriael would - and access MoT/MoN would be too much compared to MoS.)

Kol Sarek; Dunno about Glide, having a winged Sorcerer Lord who's incapable of flight doesn't feel that awesome.

On the note of his Infiltrate abilities, maybe just have him default to the "Master of Deception" Warlord ability, or just give him Infiltrate himself, so he can share it with any unit he's joined to?

Mabini; maybe specify that she replaces a Tzeentchian Champion? "{Replaces a Cultist Champion with the Mark of Tzeentch}" Probably don't need to clarify that she can only roll on the Lore of Tzeentch, since the rules in the 'dex about marked Psykers already mandate that.

Hm. I didn't want to go too far overboard with Miri's weapon skills... but when you put it that way. :D

I'm not going to make Miriael let you take other Sisters. I don't actually know what you're referring to - Daemonifuge doesn't count because those 'Sisters' were empty, soulless husks implanted with daemonettes after their souls had already been devoured. More like golems/undead than renegades.

I'll admit that the idea of MoT + SoF is amusing though.

With Glide, I didn't want to give Kol full-out Flying Monstrous Creature movement and such... how about adding a personal special rule that means that if he rolls Dark Apotheosis, he keeps his mastery levels, power armour and is a Winged daemon prince?

I guess the Master of Deception kind of works better, but I wanted to avoid it since there's already two characters in the book that have that trait (Ahriman and Huron), and letting Chosen/Cultists "buy" infiltrate is one of the most common things I see for wishlisting NL and Alpha Legion... although maybe, since he's a Night Lord, I should change it to letting them purchase Fear instead? Seems more fluffy now I revisit the character.

... Everything you say about Mabini is true, lol.

With the fallen Sisters, I was thinking of Gaunt/Cain series. Haven't read them so I don't know the exact details, but the first case was undivided psyker mind control, the second case was slaaneshi-sorcerer soul corruption? Still, can see the fun in preserving Mirael as the One Fallen. Part of my interest here is the potential of Allies-modifier characters, particularly for a corruption-focused faction. Was hoping Huron would have a rule allowing Battle Brothers allegiance with vanilla marines, swapping ATSKNF out for Hatred, to allow the representation of recent renegades. (Or, if this wasn't a PA-only form, a Khornate Freeboota Kaptin :P)

In the case of Kol's wings, wouldn't that just make him Jump Infantry? Like with Gargoyles or Furies. The Dark Apotheosis stuff sounds pretty fun, was disappointed something similar wasn't included in the rules for it.

For the Infiltrate, either way works, I'm kinda biased about HQs having upgrades tied to them is all :P If you give Kol the Daemon rule (or just Fear), the unit he's with would benefit from Fear, and it does sound like he's borderline Daemon anyways.

Ah, I see... well, I really don't remember the incident in the GG series. The incident in the Cain files was never really explained properly, though, and they weren't explicitly Sisters of Battle, I believe - they're the ones he had to call down "Fire on My Position!", right?

Kol having Daemon/jump pack.. I guess that works and simplifies things. ^^; I wanted to make him a little special is all, I guess? Jump Pack Sorcerers are pretty common after all. Definitely going with Fear though.

Hmm... Allies-modifier characters. I hadn't thought of that. I put this girl together for a character battle type game that turned into Zombies! at the last moment, so I'll just add something in...

Caerdwyn the Sorceress

Caerdwyn4533233102++

Caerdwyn - once Inquisitor Caerdwyn of the Ordo Hereticus - is one who walked along a path until she came to its end, and then kept on walking. She was a master of the long con, working painstakingly to infiltrate and expose subversive cults. Unlike other Inquisitors, she never surrounded herself with a cadre of sycophants or assistants, finding that her preferred style lent itself better to life as a solo operative.

Perhaps if she had kept even a single confidant, her tale would not have been so tragic. Working as she did exposed her to more raw chaos than any other method save warp-delving itself, and the constant attrition of the cultists she hunted and their words wore at her mind and her discipline. She started going to further and further extremes, burying herself in ever more complex schemes to escape the confusion and using her psionic abilities more and more. Caerdwyn herself still holds the belief that she does the Emperor's bidding, rooting out cults and criminals, all while sabotaging the acts of every God save he who schemes, whose mark has appeared between her shoulderblades where she cannot see. As her abilities increase, however, they twist her further, only her own self-delusion keeping from her the fact that she has been favoured by the Changer as his agent against the other three.

Stalker

While it appears to be a modified Godwyn-pattern Bolter, Caerdwyn's Stalker was built for her from the ground up. The gun is modular, capable of collapsing down so as to be packed away amongst mundane belongings, unrecognisable as being a precision weapon of death. Stalker is a ranged weapon with the following profile;

RNG: 30" S: 4 AP: 5 SPECIAL: Heavy 2, Sniper

Chainstave

Caerdwyn's Chainstave is a double-ended chainsword designed for sweeping attacks. Though balanced for one-handed use, doing so requires the use of a matching gauntlet that locks her grip to the weapon and prevents it being torn from her hand by its own growling blades. It is a melee weapon with the following profile;

RNG: - S: User + 1 AP: 5 SPECIAL: Shred, Double Weapon, Rending

Double Weapon: The Chainstave provides a bonus attack as if fighting with two close-combat weapons, even if the wielder's other hand is in use.

Pair of Force Daggers

Caerdwyn's favoured weapons off the battlefield, these matching knives are of Jokaero design, laced with psychoactive Lorus crystal that channels her will towards deadly effect. They are a melee weapon with the following profile;

RNG: - S: User AP: 5 SPECIAL: Force, Rending, Double Weapon

By the Order of the Inquisition!

Although she herself has fallen farther than any could possibly know but her own dark masters, Caerdwyn yet holds an Inquisitorial Rosette and seal. If Caerdwyn is the Army Warlord, the army may treat the following armies as Allies of Convenience, but may not include any Named Characters from them:

Codex: Space Marines

Codex: Dark Angels

Codex: Sisters of Battle

In addition, they may treat the following armies as being one Alliance tier higher under the same caveat:

Codex: Blood Angels

Codex: Grey Knights

Codex: Imperial Guard (and Forge World variants)

Might've gotten the sources wrong, it's just bits of fluff I've picked up from the lexicanum/tvtropes/tg4chan wiki (chaos sisters are something they love complaining about :P). Flipped through lexicanum again - it now says Miriael's the only one to "willingly" fall to Chaos?

Even if Kol's Glide becomes a more standard Jump Infantry thing, he's still got plenty of other unique bits going for him. Also, maybe standardize his and Caerdyn's Force Daggers?

Seeing as Caerdwyn's allying function is mainly about the allies not knowing she's chaotic, they should probably all be desperate allies, since they'd probably figure something's off about Cardwyn and the other "space marines" she's working with after the Heldrakes fly by, right?

Probably throwing up a Chaos SC I have in mind in this thread a bit later - was going to wait until I finished his model, but eh. Dark Mechanicus Contemptor-Magos that eats other vehicles to heal himself :3 No time like the present;

Moulga
Moulga 3 5 7 13 12 11 3 2 3
The Dark Magos Moulga was once an occasional ally of the Dawnspitters; binding and maintaining their Daemon Engines at a price of their fighting on his behalf. It was on one of these joint operations they discovered a great prize - a Contemptor Dreadnought chassis. Moulga laid claim to it, but the avarice and wrath of the Dawnspitter's Exalted Sorcerer, Ishtar, was great and he took insult upon this demand, striking the Magos, accidentally near-slaying. Fearing the wrath of his commanding Daemon Lord, Ishtar ordered the dying wretch entombed in the chassis. As pragmatic in death as he was in life, Moulga viewed his entombment as a victory, as he got to keep the unholy relic, and he continues to fight alongside the Dawnspitters to this day - not so much out of loyalty, but due to a vox-linked Krak charge placed in the sarcophagus alongside him.

Ferrovore: Once a sinple breaching claw, this weapon has developed a thirsty maw at the base of its three drills, and a throat aflicker with flame. Whenever Moulga removes a Hullpoint from an enemy Vehicle in Close Combat, he gains a Hullpoint (up to its starting amount of 3). The Ferrovore has a built-in Heavy Flamer. When a Building or Transport takes at least one Penetrating hit from this weapon, any units inside suffer D6 Heavy Flamer hits.

Calibration: This weapon may not be fired if the model carrying it has moved in the same turn, regardless of the Relentless special rule or if the carrying model is a vehicle, etc.

Servitor Array: Perhaps his one regret about his entombment is the loss of dexterity. His most trusted apprentices have been mounted upon his chassis, who perform that work which requires a finer touch. Moulga adds +1 to his repair rolls, and may attempt to repair himself.

Forgelord: Wherever he goes, Moulga is followed by a retinue of biomechanical monstrosities. Up to two Walkers in the same primary detachment as Moulga may become scoring Troops.
