Skrall
Hi guys. I started this army about six months ago, and i've been adding to it slowly. I thought i'd show it here in the hope of getting some more iron warrior love going. To me they are the greatest legion, but enough chat. pictures! http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0832.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0750.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0754.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0756.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0758.jpg And a PIP Termie http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0823.jpg there's also a video guide to LED rhinos i put together -skrall Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265913-122nd-iron-warrior-grand-company/ Share on other sites
Schultzhoffen
Looks good. Nice characterful army. Two (small) quibbles: the Plasma Gun reflection is a bit heavy and some weapon barrels seem not to have been drilled out. I really like your "dreadclaw" pods. Clever. Skrall
Looks good. Nice characterful army. Two (small) quibbles: the Plasma Gun reflection is a bit heavy and some weapon barrels seem not to have been drilled out. I really like your "dreadclaw" pods. Clever. You are, of course, correct. I didn't mention it in the first post, but that block of infantry and the two dreadclaw's were painted in 36hrs (two days solid with sleep) for a doubles tournie i had. Suprisingly i was nominated for best commander and tank by a few people. We came 3rd in that tournie. They are due an overhall, but i'm going to finish the models in this update first. Amazing work. Always have had a soft spot for the IW. Good to see an iron warrior! I hope you stick around to follow the log, i'm always looking for feedback from other IW fans to make sure i don't stray from the course. That table looks like its seen some use. It could almost be a display table for your legion. actually... that's my cutting mat. If you look at the devistators feet theres a few gaps left i've yet to paint. I've had it about a year, so it's taken the full brunt of my painting, weathering and accidents. Time for some more WIP pictures; http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0809.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/28041_438706962854999_795354801_n.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0798.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0799.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0800.jpg C&C welcomed as always. -skrall Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265913-122nd-iron-warrior-grand-company/#findComment-3239588 Share on other sites
Ch@oZ
Quite the good looking army. Although i wish we could see more pics of individual marines. Btw what's your recipe for painting this rust? I might have to steal it for some of the stuff currently on my table. sword brethren
Iron Within, Iron Without! beautiful force, would love to see a tutorial for those dreadclaws, i have been thinking of trying that myself but i have not had guts to risk wasting money. Razblood
http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0758.jpg Awesome looking army, really characterful :) The only criticism I have would be the Axe on the guy above. The blood is very flat. If you have any Tamiya Clear Red you could mix that with a bit of Black Ink and daub it on to achieve a much better gore effect, although for the love of hammers don't thin it before application ;) I look forward to seeing more :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265913-122nd-iron-warrior-grand-company/#findComment-3239757 Share on other sites

There will be an updated version in the next 48hrs with any luck, my model air paints arrived this morning. -skrall Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265913-122nd-iron-warrior-grand-company/#findComment-3240437 Share on other sites

Skrall
PIP time for the stormpigeon. Since i had to be awake at some un-dark godly hour thing morning for a doctors appointments i've had a little bit of time to move it closer to the finish. Still a ways to go mind, http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0905.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0906.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0907.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0908.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0909.jpg -skrall Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265913-122nd-iron-warrior-grand-company/#findComment-3244975 Share on other sites
Urauloth
Were there stormtalons around back then? I had the impression it was a recently recovered STC design. Either way, very nice looking iron warriors. Don't see them with a pre-heresy theme very often. They look suitably grim and grimy for a siege force. Either way, very nice looking iron warriors. Don't see them with a pre-heresy theme very often. They look suitably grim and grimy for a siege force. who knows, but i use 40k codex for tournies and such, so sneaking on into a pretty fluff accurate force isn't going to make grown men cry and scream, chant for change of government or break into riots. I hope. Update time, i've got a tournie starting on the 7th, so i need to get 1500pts build and painted by then. Fortunatly i've got the time and models to do it, so here's what thus far been gathered; http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0912.jpg What's needed 2x libies, 2x tactical 1x stern, 3x drop pods (i'm getting one of the modern kind in there to brake up the dreadclaw fest) 2x speeders 5x scouts 6x devies 1x aegies with icarus lascannon And finally tonights sponcer; The big pink liquid pot.... what mysteries are contained within.... http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0915.jpg -skrall Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265913-122nd-iron-warrior-grand-company/#findComment-3246560 Share on other sites

Skrall
Your wish, xenith, is granted. So i've got together most of the models for the 1500 tournie list. My 750 army is still in use, 20 tacticals with plasma/melta, 10 mk2's for sternguard, a thunderfire cannons, some rouge trader scouts for my other troops choice, a box of GK's to put together some librarians from the mK3's i've got coming. There will be a lot to do in the next two months. Todays update, i've got the two landspeeders within finishing distance (just need to finish the light effects, highlights, basing and do the pilot's flesh), and started my thunderfire cannon. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0943.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0944.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0945.jpg -skrall Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265913-122nd-iron-warrior-grand-company/#findComment-3251604 Share on other sites
Skrall
Update this morning, its a bit rough but i've mocked up three of my Vanguard veterans; Combi-plasma, tech-fist and heavy flamer. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0946.jpg http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0947.jpg thoughts? -skrall Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265913-122nd-iron-warrior-grand-company/#findComment-3254687 Share on other sites

Urauloth
The servo-arm looks good, and I always like those heavy flamer conversions. Skrall
The servo-arm looks good, and I always like those heavy flamer conversions. Never seen one on a heresy-era armour model before, looks great. thanks man, glad you like it! Very nice army, really weathered as Iron Warriors should be! now...what's in the pink liquid? :) The pink liquid... is a failed mold. I've tried my best, but despite my best efforts a few sneeky airbubles made it through the process and have rendered it unusable. Very much an embuggerance. Time for an army WIP shot. So far i only have to get a box of scouts and add 2 mk2 drop pods (the normal kind i can actually fit into a transport box for regular use) and i've got all my units! now to paint the whole thing in a month or so.... with 0 unit's at the finished standard. But at least most of it's now built and assembled. So army shot; http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0948.jpg Sternguard; http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0949.jpg Now for the WIP HQ units. The sword twin librarians; http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0950.jpg Now for the tournie i only need two, i can't decide if i want the twins, or what i've nicknamed 'the iron giant' http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/Gitzkrieg/SAM_0951.jpg Still some conversion work left to be done, but i wanted to see what people were feeling... -skrall Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265913-122nd-iron-warrior-grand-company/#findComment-3256640 Share on other sites
Ammonius
I am in awe. Your weathering makes the models look like if you were careless while handling them, you may get Tetanus!
