By the looks of it I'm in the minority and say the first marine with the red trims.

I really like your colour scheme and it's amazing that you spent so much time thinking about the background. A lot of people just think about the paint scheme. (me being one of them)

Keep it up!

I like the colour scheme. Reminds me of the mortifactors chapter. The only UM chapter that I like.

Anyway, try to tidy up the bone and red (look at me giving painting advice lol). I know they are hard to make crispy and consistent. Try this: For the red use a grey colour underneath it and then apply it above and wash it red. You will be surprised. As for the eyes thingie. Well blue would indeed stick out but you might want to give them a tiny and I mean really tiny cover of gloss varnish. To my experience it gives them the illusion of glass. They might stick out more. As for bone... Well cant get it consistent really. I want to use some of the painting recepies our brothers here provided (and I shamelessly stolen). But most likely will resort to spray for my terminators.

Bottom line: You are working with 2 of the four more difficult colours IMHO (the other been white and yellow), so dot get disheartened ok?

Cant wait to see more.

And welcome to the rock brother!

I like the last scheme, the bone inserts work well. As for the robes I agree that green robes and casings can look really good, I don't think it would cause the model to look to busy if you're conservative with your use of the red (squad markings and what not). At the end of the day all that matters is that you're happy with the look so don't hesitate to sacrifice a few models to try different things or different techniques. It will pay off in the long run, it feels great having a good looking army that you've designed.

I know this sounds like throw away advice but you'll find with the shoulder pads that practice makes perfect an makes you a lot faster, and a detail brush might help

Don't fear to mess up a few models. If you feel you would like to start them over a day in dettol can remove the paint without damaging the plastic.

Just wear gloves because they will need scrubbing and if you dont your hands will look like you painted a house

Well, been a bit busy this week so haven't had a chance to update, but thank you for all the encouragement, tips and kind words. As you may have seen, chapter 4589 has been designated 'The Angels of the Emperor's Divine Retribution' or as we shall usually call them from now on, 'The Retributors'.

Think i've decided on the colour scheme too:

and here he is next to another test mini:

now I've just got to finish these for path to redemption (anyone know the points value of 9 marines, one with plasma, one with P Cannon, NO SERGEANT?) :

Very excited for the new codex and models. I've been checking GW wadvance orders about 3 times a day!

Thought of the day: No army is big enough to conquer the galaxy. But faith alone can overturn the universe...

Can I just say that there appears to be a noticeable improvement in the quality of the painting between the last 5 and the first minis you posted on page 1, so that's great to see in such a short space of time! Keep it up!

Just one piece of cc if I may, the eyes of this guy

do look a bit "Nurgle-y" for my tastes. Great for Chaos Marines, but not, I would say, for the "good guys" :)
