Runic weapons and Wolf Tail Talisman question

So,

 

 

I have been making a Rune priest list and I have a bunch of questions. Stop me please since this is seeming a bit crazy to me. I cant find anywhere that Runic weapon rolls to shut down psychic powers are deny the witch rolls. Second I wanted to double check with you guys but it seems that even if you fail your Runic Weapon shut down you can still get a 5+ save from a Wolf Tail Talisman. So third, does this mean you can get a deny the witch roll if you fail all the rest of these saves ? I feel like I am missing something here, but I can't find it.

I believe in the latest FAQ that stated you only get one chance to counter a Psychic Power.

So,

1) With the way that's worded, the Runic Weapon seems to be separate from Deny the Witch.

 

2) It says quite clearly that you only get one attempt.

 

A 4+ shut down roll is actually pretty good all things considered especially when you don't have to be targeted. Great for trolling Eldar Farseers and the like. The Wolf Tail Talisman isn't really useful anymore except maybe for non-Rune Priest HQs, but we love our Rune Priests so much that we take them anyway so...

Everyone gets Deny the Witch, regardless of psykers present. A psychic hood, iirc, improves the DtW save, but only if when in 6" of targeted model/unit. Runic weapons are a null zone of 24" with a flat 4+ save that trumps other Deny the Witch saves.

 

And as the FAQ says, you can't have both. Psychic defenses are one saving throw now, regardless of army or wargear.
