Advise on gk allies, fun mainly

Hi all,

 

2012 was a year of chaos for me (rl and army choice), but as of 2013 I am preparing for a return to the emp light with blood angels and would like to ally some gk in. I wont be using flyers (yes I've picked both dexs with 'the best' flyer in and not using it, Imo its pig ugle and still dont like flyers in normal 40k), so will be running a mainly foot army, with maybe one/3 pods and a rhino or 3.

 

I have painted my first test mini yday in red, and also started one of 2 metal I had of the old gk in his silver. these are ones with halberds (I know this changes them but not sure how yet). I havent got dex yet, as I've asked for dex/unit of pa gk for xmas and dont know if il get them then or not, buuuuuttt my question to you (at last!) is this:

 

Would I be wasting my time with a random inq bod (possibly with bolt pistol/hammer unless I make a new model), with some henchmen, then a unit of 7 gk strikes and possibly a special assaisin or some other fun thing. Can strikes (as my ally troop) take/worth halberds? I would assume a psycannon, maybe the bolts for the squad, not sure (I believe they are a cuople of points more than a standard tac amrine).

 

Also, could I run the cotez guy making hench the troopers then have strikes as pruifiers (sp?)? how different are they, I remember them being 'omg awesomzzz' ages ago, but dont know if this would be worth considering?

 

Would they be okay as a mid field support unit without a transport as I'm trying to run few trucks.

 

Also, For an inq, the strikes and a henchmen unit based around hell rifles/doo dars of a spec forces look put me back points wise (obvs not exact amounts, but am I looking at 400pts, 700pts anything?).

Nah, the Inquisitor is fine, count him as Coteaz.

 

Henchmen will require some thought. I suggest you read their unit entry, you can make different units out of them. Here are some decent templates;

 

Cheap dakka/scoring: 3 x Acolytes w/plasma guns, 9 x Acolytes w/storm bolters (105 points)

Long range dakka: (need Inquisitor for re-rolls on scatter+prevent Mindlock) 3 x Servitor w/plasma cannon, 9 x Acolytes (96 points)

Melee warband: (need Tech-Marine escort and Raven transport) 5 x Death-Cult w/power axe+power sword, 5 x Crusader w/power axe+storm shield

If fielding Strikes, you want a full squad with double psycannon. Don't take any other upgrades, their purpose is cheap shooting. Psybolts is a good upgrade, think carefully about whether you need the points elsewhere though.

 

Vindicare Assassin is sadly the only one worth fielding, the others don't work very well (Callidus is okay as a suicide bomb, but not amazing)

Yeah, that would work. Purifiers are amazing Elites, take them full strength with quad psycannon, arm the remaining guys with halberds and a hammer. They are fearsome in melee and produce a lot of dakka in the mid-field.
