pingo
Have you any wipe on how you made the bases. They work really well I think. Yes, sort of. They are made with the sheet cork torn into pieces and glued in place. This is probably best seen in this post of a WIP on my Wolf Lord. A tutorial on painting the rock is here. And a tutorial on how I did the snow is here.
irwit
That's awesome, thanks for sharing. Couple of questions. Have you found the snow has yellowed at all? What PVA did you use? I think the yellowing can have something to do with the PVA. What size cork sheet do you use? Cheers for all the help so far and looking forward to your next update! pingo
Hi irwit, happy to help. The snow has not yellowed as yet, but these models are only a month or so old at the most. I know some people add white paint to the snow. The PVA I used in the snow is called 'Unibond Super PVA Adhesive and Sealer'. It seems like a pretty good glue (I've used it a lot for gluing sand to bases). However for gluing the cork to the bases I used 'UHU General Purpose Adhesive'. This glue is great for that kind of thing, but PVA would work too. I used two sizes of cork sheet depending on the effect I wanted: 5mm thick and 2mm thick. I should have mentioned that I used some cork chippings too for rocks (they come in a bag; I think Railway modellers use them for boulders). The Mad Hermit
Lovely, lovely Wolves. Space Wolves were my first army in 40K (back in 2nd Edition) and I still have a weakness for "well-dressed" Sons of Russ.
pingo
Thanks Mad Hermit Cool name! I have a couple more Wolf Guard Terminators to post today; two true brothers in fact. Barungr Half-said, a taciturn and stoic warrior, highly honoured, and Varungr Helblade, a fearsome and headstrong son of Russ, and his Jarl's personal champion. Barungr Half-said: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W0cEeTyk814/UQVnPMjaKMI/AAAAAAAAAw0/btEWlv9Zgm8/s1600/2013-01-07+21.29.06.jpg Varungr Helblade: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vw2CG33p17U/UQVnZuEymDI/AAAAAAAAAxg/FwHcco-h-Gg/s1600/2013-01-07+21.25.28.jpg Plenty more photos and background stories are on my blog should you wish to peruse. Thanks for looking!
irwit
Hmm, I love this thread and your blog, its all awesome! But that chains word ... :s it needs trimming, its a cool idea but its ruins the balance and scale of the model. Just my opinion though, if you like it, rock on! pingo
Thanks irwit, I appreciate that. If I could make that Varungr model again I would make the sword smaller as I agree it is a bit over balanced.
irwit
Trim it then :) Its an awesome looking model and army, and the pose is great. Cant take too long to build up a new one ? You should never be afraid or revisiting models if you are not happy.
Vash113
Personally I really like the Chainsword, yes it is enormous but then again it makes it stand out and is not beyond the realm of possibility given Space Marine fluff. Much smaller and I think the visual impact would be somewhat reduced. Currently the sight of that thing really makes you sit up and it absolutely fits the character of the Space Wolves. You should never be afraid or revisiting models if you are not happy. I fear I would spoil the proportions if I trimmed it as it's roughly double the height and double the width of a regular chainsword. I basically scaled it up. I'm happy enough to leave it alone I think. Anyway; I'm glad you like the army. Can't wait to get it on the table. Thanks Vash; hopefully it'll look nice and intimidating on the tabletop Wow! Great work! You have great brush control and skill. Cheers for that I expect it's more a case of tidying up mistakes and cutting just enough corners to get by, lol.

Captain Semper
These are top notch stuff there Pingo! I'm really at awe with your style! I really like the bright red (as opposed to the duller "official" shade) and can this chainsword be any bigger?
Monstra Sumus
I love that chainblade. Just the sort of ridiculous over the top weapon a Terminator needs.

pingo
Thanks, all, for the kind comments. I've got another Grey Hunter pack all finished and there's a background story for each model and plenty more photos on my blog here. So, this is Hjorkyr Stormblade's pack. I had fun painting these guys. pingo
It's been a while, and I'm feeling in a necromantic mood, so will resurrect this dusty old thread with some Wolf Scouts. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1qBbRZ_LhAU/UTPIwFOgapI/AAAAAAAABEI/cyiEWhZROIg/s1600/2013-02-25+21.54.06.jpg These are my Wolf Scouts, the first models I built in my Space Wolf army and I really threw myself into the conversions and really wanted to 'wolf-up' the standard scout models. Here are some close ups of these sneaky wolves.
