The painting quality is just top notch - you have captured perfectly the grim determination of the 1st Legion... and those bases? Wow just wow!

I think ill get a Rapier done next tho, the model is gorgeous.

Don't feel too bad about the lack of comments, that happens a lot, more so it seems when they are quality and people have a hard time picking something out (I know I don't like to just say "good show" over and over again), at least that's what I tell myself :D.

 

It's a very nice display of minis, they look very cool decked out in the Legion's colors. The bases are very nicely done, some sort of resin made? I notice that they don't have any Legion icons though, what gives? The gold (and I think it is really hard to photograph metallics) doesn't appear to have a lot of depth to it. Is it a single color or single color + wash? Perhaps an edge highlight of gold + bright silver mixed could bring out the edge a bit more. The red bolter casings look very nice and draw the eye against the mostly black background of the armor, and you've done a good job giving them nice color depth. Very cool pack topper and I like the little wings attached to the Mk3 helmet.

You might be right on the comment part.. atleast i know i do that myself :p

The bases are indeed resin, templar ruins from scibor. Really good stuff, when you just cant make bases yourself..

As for the missing icons, i cant freehand very well - and as such im stuck with using decals. Now the GW decals, arent really that impressive. So im going to use the FW decal sheet.. and i wont be ordering from FW till im done with the stuff i already have :)

You are right tho about the gold. It is a single colour (Vallejo Liquid old gold), but ill give them a sepia wash and a sharp highlight.

It was hard to make them scream "Dark Angels", as most of the bits i have lying around dosen't fit Mkii very well. I expect that will change once i get some decals.

So fun update, my praetor on jetbike (with a not so legal plasma cannon sadly), Iron Halo, Paragon Blade and Artificer Armour is done.

 

The base is largely still VIP.

It is a little difficult to give you much more because the images are from farther away than to show close-up detail, however, from a table top distance they give a very good view and the impression I have is that it is very nicely done and a good center piece to blow your opponent up with. :D

Yes the Praetor is from the HH book, hes sort of the equivilant of a chapter master in 40k terms.

And even with my terribad camera skills, i can see that i need to find a purple wash, as his inner robes.. could use it^^

I know that feeling Couldn't affort this if i hadn't gotten a job back in september. But i really think that jumping into 30k was the best decision iv made in my warhammer career :p

Soo its been a while! :)

 

I decided last night that i would make an additional vow for the PTR. A Rapier.

 

Here is the result - sadly the bus was late, and as such i missed my train... yada yada, and now the lighting is terrible :S

 

Also, iv experimented with a glow from the lenses, comments?

Whoops, I don't know how I missed the last few updates! I think the glowing lenses look very cool. It's easy to over-do something like that but limiting it to the edge below the eyes is very effective. I'm impressed that you've picked out all the rivets on the arrmour too! Little details like that bring out the shape of the model which is easily lost when they're all-black. :tu:

 

A purple wash would help the praetor's robe. At the moment I think it's too bright in comparison with the rest of the colours you've used.

Minor update. Fírst 5 man of the third veteran squad.

I have another 5 Mk3 marines and 5 mkIV to go, before ill start up on the good stuff.

Looking at this - i think i have to Work abit more on the lense / lense reflection, and possibly tone Down the weapon casings.

Very nice indeed! With soem of the robes, a little more highlighting might be in order to smooth things out, but by and large these look great! I'm very jealous!
