Zopha
Vow here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/268570-librarium-painting-challenge-2013/page-3?do=findComment&comment=3274132 I, Zopha of the Index Astartes, vow on the honour of my Chapter to paint and present at least 1500 points of Crimson Fists on or before the 31st of March, 2013. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, preferably with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, I will provide the Librarium with an article and wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done. I was using the blog section of B&C to post updates but since it's down at the moment I've decided to move it here and once the LPC vow is complete I'll keep this going to finish a bigger vow, one that will see me finish every single marine unit I have to a standard I'm happy with, that crusade will take quite a bit longer. I need to see this LPC finished or it might not get completed ever, there's a baby due.To kick this crusade off I'm starting on units I find easy to paint, Lysander, two squads of Terminators, three Dreadnoughts, one Relic Contemptor Dreadnought and a Land Raider. Two of the dreadnoughts and one squad of Terminators are ebay purchase so they have to have some work done to them before I can start painting them. I'm trying to use a phased assembly-line process for this. 1. Strip paint/Repair/Assembly2. Base-coat with Blue3. Airbrush main colour4. Sort out the base (I haven't decided on a theme yet)5. Start painting details and shading. The current plan is to get everything up to the start of phase 4 and test some base themes on a spare terminator and then do all the bases at once.Landraider (MultiMelta, pindle storm bolter) - More assembly required. This is a half finished project from awhile ago, I mounted the lascannons on the wrong door, I've no idea why but I think I only lightly glued them in so they might be easy to move. I'll find out when I try to move them I'll be adding magnets in to the door frames so I can swap out the lascannons for other weapons if I ever get them and to allow me to mount even more lascannons for a Terminus Ultra pattern.http://i.imgur.com/FxI9cNam.jpgTerminator Assault Squad (Thunder-hammers and Storm Shields) and Lysander - I've got them airbrushed with the main armour colour, waiting for next phase (base decoration) http://i.imgur.com/6zlepjkl.jpg Left - Based with Army painter blueRight - Airbrushed with the final armour colourTerminator Squad (Cyclone launcher) - These guys needed some paint stripped from them and the Cyclone launcher repaired. They're black reach terminators and while stripping them I tried to get the arms off, they came off but so did the peg they go attach to. I hope to combine the power of magnets with some thunder claws and give them swappable arms. I have a spare Terminator that came free with White Dwarf to test this out on. For the next update I hope to have them all assembled, cleaner and ready for a base coat of blue. I'll probably be adding some small bits and fist icons to make them stand out a bit more.http://i.imgur.com/uyhURFpl.jpgDreadnought (Default load-out) - A Black Reach model. I was on a phase where I wanted to use Gesso, it worked well enough on other models but not on a dread. Needs a paint-strippin'!http://i.imgur.com/W4bMPm.jpgDreadnought (Plasma Cannon) - An ebay purchase, this one needed some repairs done and quite a bit of paint stripped off from it. Leg guards are missing, I'll have to sort something out before I basecoat it. It's quite sparkly from the metal paint I scrubbed from it.http://i.imgur.com/EUCpRN2l.jpgDreadnought (Assault Cannon, Missile Launcher) Same as the one above, an ebay purchase in a similar condition, also sparkly. I got the weapons mixed up when setting them up for photos, I'll have them on the right model next time :)http://i.imgur.com/zjBHx0Al.jpgIronclad Dreadnought - Airbrushed with the main armour colour, waiting for magnets to use on DCCW mounted weapons and then it'll move to the detail painting phase.http://i.imgur.com/mm1E6XPl.jpg Left - Based with Army painter blueRight - Airbrushed with the final armour colourRelic Contemptor Dreadnought (Kheres Assault Cannon) - Mostly assembled, some minor parts to attach (knee pads). The weapons are magnetised just above the elbow so I can swap them out if I ever get more weapons, the mortis version is mighty tempting to gain the skyfire rule. Not sure if I like the pose of the contemptor, I may try to reposition it.http://i.imgur.com/wD9Aq8Rm.jpg Any comments, questions or criticism welcome :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270553-march-of-the-elites-a-crimson-fist-lpc/ Share on other sites
