Honda
I posted this in the Black Templar forum, but I also wanted to open the idea generation to this very creative group of brothers. I painted up three Storm Ravens last year for a yet to be delivered Custodes army. They are going to become Templars. No discussion there. How they look now: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/hkowabunga/Custodes/DSCN9451.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/hkowabunga/Custodes/DSCN9452.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/hkowabunga/Custodes/DSCN9453.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/hkowabunga/Custodes/DSCN9454.jpg Single http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/hkowabunga/Custodes/DSCN9455.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/hkowabunga/Custodes/DSCN9457.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/hkowabunga/Custodes/DSCN9458.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/hkowabunga/Custodes/DSCN9459.jpg Now it would be relatively easy enough to paint over all the gold and complete them in my current Templar scheme. That's not the tough/creative part required. The question revolves around, is it possible to keep any of the gold whilst still allowing them to field Templar colors? If so, how much and what? So, I'm looking for some creative feedback on a way to paint these guys, given that I will mask the engines, the red band, the canopies and missiles. Is my only choice to paint them the blessed black and white (which I am just fne with), or...is there something else there? A photoshop of the concept, no matter how roughly worked would be greatly appreciated. Also, this gold is most likely the only large amount of gold in the army, discounting detail bits. Razblood
I'd say having the canopy trim and VTOL thruster pods stay Gold would look pretty good. The_Chaplain
Well if you've got three golden storm ravens and want to make them BT friendly- clearly you need to start fielding Helbrecht and have him fly around in one of them. Maybe the emperor's champion has gold armor on your crusade, make a reason. Somewhere though, you're going to need to make some patches of black and white- if for no other reason than visual coherence, and also to slap on the chapter emblem. Otherwise, go nuts! add big blocks of latin words and mottos, have censers and lanterns jangling from the wings- the sky is the limit visually, so you might as well have fun! Volfen
If it was me I would leave one of the three, the "squadron leader", almost untouched except for where you want the BT insignia. The other two I would mask off the leading edges of the wings, the doors, the control surfaces, and all the thruster housings, then go with a nice satin black for everything not masked. Of course leaving a white background for the BT crosses. Go nuts and post the pictures for us :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271390-requesting-some-stylin-help-for-templars/#findComment-3307184 Share on other sites
zxyogi
Why not break up the Gold going along the lines of something like this...... Honda
Very interesting...thank you brothers for the feedback as it is quite helpful. I'm planning on them all looking differently this go around, so it looks like I have some room to play around. @zxyogi: That pic is very helpful. Also, I'm a big fan of your MMs. Many thanx again brothers!
