A Lost Company

Here is a lost company that i created for my new space wolves army that i have been building. I love everything about the Vlka Fenryka but a couple people already play them at my hobby store and MOST space wolf armies look the same (sad truth) so i decided to give my army more individuality while staying true to Russ and the Allfather. Here is a little back story and then pics ahead. Enjoybiggrin.png

-The path we tread is rough and full of dangers but we are Sons of Russ! Brothers to the Vlka Fenryka! We Are River Wolves!- Harl Redmane Wolf Guard/ Wolfborn

Before the mighty Wolf Lord Harald Deathwolf, there was another who's savage and wild spirit demanded respect and submission from all wolf-kind of fenris. Though many centuries have passed the skjald still speak of the Wolf Lord Vraksson Gorehowl of the 6th. Tasked by the Great Wolf to deal with a rumored sightings of a Thousand Sons army bolstered by night lords in hiding on a mining jungle Death-world, Gorehowl with his 17 strong wolf guard made camp in the deep shadows of the fang, telling the rest of his company to be prepared to deploy by mornings light. As night fell each warrior prepared their mind and will for the control that was needed for the tasked at hand. With a signal the wolf lord and guard threw their heads back to the nights dark sky and let out a long calling howl, of which was heard all throughout the surrounding peaks ringing the fang. As the last echo was heard as if in answering strong, feral and bone chilling howls that would make mortals blood run cold and ice hardened men look around in fear, was all that was needed to make savage fang tipped smiles erupt throughout the pack. Some time pasted before the first of the legendary predators came to the wolf lord and his guard. Each male or female an alpha in their own right, presenting themselves to the individual who had earned their respect and held the right to be called thunderwolf cavalry. By the first rays of light snaking past the harsh peaks, Wolf lord Gorehowl and Cavalry were thundering down the halls of the fang, rushing into waiting thunderhawk gunships aimed to dock within the strike cruiser, Claws of Russ, along with the rest of the great company. The Great Wolf allowed 2 battle tested rune priest to join Gorehowl's mission and with that the hunt was on!

Little did the Vlka Fenryka know that although the transit to the Death-world was smooth little more than hours had passed at the 6th company made planetfall that warp storms would make escape from the sector all but impossible for many centuries, allowing no outgoing or incoming messages to be passed and for the small frigate manned by humans that tried to pass through the storm only debris was found along the border. So Wolf lord Gorehowl and the 6th tracked down and slew each heretic hiding along the river-bank hive cities and in doing so flushed out the hated Chaos space marines. Three grinding decades saw to the legions continual war against the two legions until both were cornered and wyrds cut. The many battles saw to that no blood claw remained such for long, most attaining the rank of grey hunter. While many a good warrior were lost in the fighting, it was Wolf Lord Gorehowl atop of his famed thunderwolf Warsong, that turned the tide many times against the larger chaos space marine forces. Between the swift crushing claws, sharp fangs and agility of Warsong and powerful amour crushing force of Gorehowl's frost axe, Kjor, many traitors met their end. In the 3rd decade that saw the space wolves victorious, Warsong and two of the thunderwolf cavalry asigned to the wolf lord were struck low by the helfire of a Thousand Son's daemon prince, before the Rune Priests were able to banish back the daemon and dispell his flames. With the cutting of Warsong's thread, the wolf lord was driven into a furious bezerker rage that opened the flood gates to deeply hidden psyker abilities. The ground opened up under chaos space marines and raptures were flung and shot out the sky by whipping hurricanes and vengeful lightning strikes. Only when no other enemies were left to kill did the Wolf lords powers cease.

With the bones cast and runes read, both Wolf priest foretold a future to be cut off from the great company and that a new path was to be ran. Taking on the colors best suited to blend in with in the new Death-world and surrounding planets, the new chapter badge of a blue wolf eating a bright sun was adopted and shedding the oaths to the far great wolf while remaining loyal to Leman Russ and The Emperor, the River Wolves were made!

With the shedding of the old ways, new structure was formed. With Vraksson Gorehowl's new mantle of wolf priest due to his psychic powers manifesting at the end of the third decade war, the remaining wolf priest were made as equals within the chapter and new titles were forged!

Both WIP

im thinking about making a High Pack (rune priest) Karamaz Windblade on a bike, so that he can keep up with my Wolfborn (thunderwolf cav.) when he joins the squad. Any ideas on how to get that chopper look on a bike?

*note* didnt forget the new pics just have gotten to taking them since wolf fur on takes a bit of time to do when you have multiple layers/washes

i dont have many paints and i like keeping things simple so i dont mix colors, so ive just had to work with what i got:

black primer

base coat in olg GW bleached bone

top of wolf body/head/shoulder and tail washed in agrax earthshade

wash whole wolf in nuln oil

then agrax earthshade

then nuln oil

then repeat until i got a nice mix of light/dark tones in the fur and the color brown that i liked

i work on two models at a time and in between washes i put them in front of the fan to dry faster

I have a chopper mock up I made a while ago around here somewhere but damned if I could find it. Basically what I did was cut the stem/handle bars off and used a shaped piece of sprue to angle them out then used 10 gauge wire wrapped in 16 gauge for the forks. Made it really long and low. Was going to use Codex:SM to make a SW bike gang themed list. BTW you models look great, love the care put into the back story and the effects on the weapons.

Thanks for both the bike tip and the complements, actually spent some time on these unlike my assembly line Grey Knights! The way you put it the conveersion doesnt sound that hard, seems like ill be making a trip down to the hobby store

in the mean time heres by last member of the second Wolfborn squad - Tammok Soulhunter

Thanks brother. It sounds like we have similar painting styles. I'm going to try out this technique on my next wolf. First I got some Long Fangs to finish up though.

For Russ!

@Pedrogzc thanks man, uzloc is one of my favorites. I got the wolf off of ebay, the company has 3 different wolf molds and 2 alternate wolf w/ saddle and rider legs molds (though the saddle/egs are too forward on the wolf for me)

~"Hail the Wolf King! For his sons shall make the waters run red with the blood of our enemies!" - Vraksson Gorehowl

Of the current High Pack, during these decades of fighting only one has fallen... Thawn Stonemaw known also as the "Champion of Elements". On a rare desolate plateau, overseeing a lush and fertile jungle, a battle of titanic proportions was waged. 2 squads of Blood Fins(Blood claws) supported by 3 packs of Tide Hunters(Grey Hunters) and a lone squad of grizzled Storm Fangs(Long Fangs) held back a hammering and relentless surge of chaos space marines being reinforced by a powerful Thousand Sons sorcerers. With the fury of Russ upon the chaos scum, many a thread were cut that day but for every traitor marine that fell 2 would take his place and for all the bezerker spirit and calculated cunning both Blood Fins and Tide Hunters died by the minute. With numbers on their side and a battle looking to close at hand with victory the chaos sorcerer closed the portal that held reinforcements and turned his vaunted gaze upon the battle... Only then did Thawn Stonemaw come crashing from the heavens in a drop pod cradled in a re-entry inferno like the Fire Wolf of legend. Slamming into the strongest point of the chaos space marine attack, the drop pod itself killed and stunned many a traitor while unleashing its deadly cargo. Stonemaw took two steps from the drop and launched himself at the enemy, hacking left and right with the fury of the elements in his eyes, he rallied the remaining River Wolves to feats of near legendary acts of vengeance and slaughter. With the sudden surge of the Wolf spirit the chaos space marines faltered and that is when Stonemaw let the elements join the fight. He summoned the blinding wind to rush forth over the chaos army, sending up many hurricanes into armored strong points to see tanks smashing into infantry like waves upon a fragile shore. Unfortunately the hurricanes diminished down to a crying gale for the Thousand sons sorcerer had had enough and used his warp powers to rein the winds in. He vainly strove through the battle to meet this space pup that had ruined his peerless victory and had managed to flank the rest of the dogs giving his army 3 front to face. With a crackling of elemental and warp powers did the two meet in open combat, Trading blows for blow like the two god-like primarch's they were sired from. The tipping of the scales came when the Sorcerer's warp sword transformed into the shape of a hammer and with a baleful cry struck Stonemaw to his knees. With Blood streaming from his mouth, body wounded in a dozen places, did Stonemaw meet the Sorcerer's gaze with no fear or regret upon his face. The sorcerer taking time to gloat his victory over this pup who thought to dabble into the ways of power, did not feel the vortex of elemental power that Stonemaw was absorbing. The killing blow that was meant to crush the High Pack never came, for a bestial roar tore forth from Stonemaws mouth and the ground split the chaos forces down the middle, with a razor winds pushing from above, as if greedily swallowing the chaos marines into its jaws. Only with the space marine supernatural speed was the sorcerer able to land the glancing blow that sent Stonemaw into the Red Dream but himself falling down to the gaping jaws of the ground. Leaderless and now more than outnumbered the traitors quickly fell to the might of the River Wolves but from that day, even with all the medical aid that the company could provide, Stonemaw has been hunting the jungles in the Red Dream...

So im now working on my 3rd pack of Tide hunters and since ive done a axe pack and a chainsword pack im stuck with what my next pack should be close-combat equiped with, im trying to stay away from pole-like weapons because thats what my thunderwolf Calvary use. im thinking:

- single wolf claw w/ pistol or bolter, wulfen with dual claws and pack leader with clawed pointing powerfist w/ bolter

-single powerfist w/ pistol or bolter, wulfen with dual chainfist(rending?) and giving the "pack leader" a ork power klaw to make it different as the actual power fist w/ bolt pistol

-wulfen-like, so dual beast men arms cut of one hand to put bolter/pistol, wulfen model both arms and a beast-like head, "Pack leader" with powerfist and beast man arm, holster pistol

or anything else you guys can think of let me know, im pretty lost on which way i should go right now so any input would be great. As for now i'll be working on my second Storm Fang squad Rain-Makers
