Brother_Ledesia
So a little while ago I decided that I would temporarily leave my WHFB Goblins and explore the Realms of Warhammer 40K, I eventually decided on the Imperial Fists and have been borrowing my Friends under coated Space Marines while I build up my own forces. I am one of those players that would rather have a collection compared to a painted roster so there is likely to be a few things in this Army Blog that may only ever see the table in games where I just want to use it. Yesterday my girlfriend and myself spent the day looking through Car Boot sales and Charity shops, while at the former I made a discovery that have allowed me to start work on this project, a Black Templar force which the son of the stall owner eventually lost interest in and decided to get rid of at the Car Boot. So I picked up, a Stand in Emperor's Champion, 12 Space Marines, 5 Scouts, Dreadnought, Land Speeder Typhoon and a Land Raider Crusader for the price of £35, all that were painted were not to a standard that I would feel comfortable playing with on the table. Immediately I started work on the Scouts and the Land Raider Crusader (as these were not even under coated) while the rest of the army requires stripping before painting. So here are the pictures of the painting on the purchased models http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ratvan85/ImperialFists004_zps3c710563.jpghttp://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ratvan85/ImperialFists006_zpse88be420.jpg So like I said, not bad, but not what I'd want to play with. I quickly did a few test miniatures (Scouts) which is Iyanden Darksun basecoat, Sunburst Yellow Drybrush, Greyphonne Sepia Wash, followed by a second drybrush of Sunburst Yellow (I know that these are OOP colours but I do have a large selection of these I picked them up cheap from the LGC as the owner had overstocked) and slapped on some other colours so that I could evaluate the contrast between the base colour of the armour, the grey of the planned material and the red on the Imperial Eagle. I also had to do a quick fix on one of the scouts who has a shortened combat blade then the rest who will probably be the Sergeant (he likes getting closer) this squad probably will not get to see too much table time, however I do plan on picking up a Landspeeder Storm so that I can play around with an Outflanking CC Scout unit. http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ratvan85/ImperialFists007_zps033fce90.jpg And I just could not resist starting work on the LRC http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ratvan85/ImperialFists008_zps512f9c85.jpg http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ratvan85/ImperialFists009_zps1803aa62.jpghttp://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ratvan85/ImperialFists010_zpsc7d6da62.jpg I have attempted to include some weathering effects on the boasecoating level (the thicker paint and 'bubbling' effect) which I shall work on later. This is likely to be the centre piece of the army alongside a storm raven and possibly a storm talon. I have placed an order from Forgeworld for the alternate set of doors which I can easily replace as some of the joints are not secured all that well (as some of you may be able to spot, which I will fix once the doors are replaced and painted) Thanks for looking. Brother_Ledesia
So I decided that I would do a bit more work on my 'test' models the Scout squad, I'm pretty happy with the Yellow on their armour as I want it to be slightly darker than the rest of the army (for scouting purposes) so some more shots, and yes I do base last so starting work on those now http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ratvan85/ImperialFists001_zps0fcfc83e.jpg http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ratvan85/ImperialFists002_zps103a7d28.jpg The faces need a few more Sepia washes before the highlight and the detail needs painting on the model as well as a few area's I need to tidy or cover with transfers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274400-brother-ledesias-army-blog/#findComment-3355078 Share on other sites
Brother_Ledesia
Has anyone used the army painter coloured primer (daemonic Yellow) for painting Imperial fists? I am looking at picking a can up if it is recommended Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274400-brother-ledesias-army-blog/#findComment-3370762 Share on other sites
