Wolf_Pack's Blood Angels - Conversions and Kit Bashes

Recommended Posts

Great to see you have good reasons for picking the right model for you.

I don't think the Baneblade kit would look as good as the more Chinese / Russian 'esque round turrets that FW employed on their Fellblade - but conversions, well, I'd never knock em as they can often exceed expectations :)  I definitely think you could produce the exposed track and angled armour look that gives it a more Land Raider feel.

Gl :)

There's a converted Baneblade on BoLS and CoolMiniorNot that is pretty awesome.  If you google "Blood Angels Felblade" it should be the top result.  I think it was called the Crucio-something.

It was put together by a guy who wanted a heresy-era super heavy for his marines before the Heresy book came out, with its Legion Felblades.  I think it might be a good place to start for inspiration.

Also, the 30K Felblades and Felglaive have better main guns than baneblade variants, so mocking up the turret for one conversion may be worth looking into.

Well I just found an old and busted Standard baneblade for peanuts brothers. Just as the mythical Phoenix, it will be reborn from ashes. IT SEEMS THAT I HAVE ACCEPTED YOUR CHALLENGE!

Thats a proven omen and warning about the new hights of awesome that is about to be unleashed and displayed. :)

Sanctimonia Cruor incoming?

That's Machinator's stuff from Blood and Steel Industries I believe. There's up to date rule links for them on here somewhere.

Progress is going very slowly. The previous owner used some good forsaken cheap fusing glue. I tried to heat it, snap it and then freeze it, and it did not work. So I had to do it the old school way.

Oooh someone with plenty of spare marines ;)  Very unique and different... quite like it in a way - not my thing - but I appreciate what you've done and does indeed stand out!

Think the fellblade tracks would probably look better with the raised bits between links, much better than GW's emblem tracks.

I really like it so far, but I think the rivets are bothering me.  You never see rivets on Marine vehicles, they're all clean lines and overlapping panels.

Going back and looking at the FW Felblade, I think doing the plain tracks with rod links, and then probably shaving all those rivets and maybe adding some extra armor plating will put you right in line with the Legion look.

That, and if you keep adding full models as ornamentation, its going to be the most blinged-out relic tank in the history or 40K.

Also, you can't just go and say things like that. They just end up insulting my swag making abilities and push me to do more.

If this project ends up completely over the top, you can blame Calnus :p

Technically it's not a full model msn-wink.gif

I shaved off 3/4 of it. I will post a picture at an angle tonight to demonstrate. He is very thin, I cut angles to give him fake depth.

I'm extremely curious as to how you achieved the effect- sculpturesque features on a suitable vehicle such as a fellblade, land raider prometheus, etc. just seems right to me somehow. These vehicles of legend are like mobile shrines, it would make sense that they be festooned to the nines!

Thanks Wolf_pack, I'll take that as a compliment.

And I swear you have some voodoo magic going on with the SG ornament.  That looks like a whole model stuck on there, like it should be magnetized to come off and run as part of its own unit.

...Which would be kind of awesome if the marines used automatons of some kind, you would have them as ornamentation that just walks off the tank and slaps people with power weapons.  Shame they don't believe in AI, and no marine will just hang out in a pose like that.  I guess the closest could be like a rack of Servo-skulls that get deployed, but they're not nearly as cool looking.

Have you got a loadout in mind for the weapons yet?

Here's an angled picture to give you an idea of how hollow it really is.

If there is interest for it, I can make a tutorial on how to achieve this. It's not particularly hard, it just takes quite a bit of time to do. I put in about 3-4 hours into it.

@ Calnus as far as I remember, Fellblades don't have any options asides from laser battereis. I will go with magnets and make laser batteries and the quad lascannons for sponsons.

Yep, I'd be interested in a tutorial.
