Oh I saw your blight drone on CMON and its just breathtaking, I really love the humour with the two nurglings running around the base (I always had a soft spot for nurglings and Nurgle in general).

Hey everyone, thanks for all the compliments. I worked a bit more on my chosen today. I think they will accompany my sorcerer normally but I may enter them with Typhus at the Demons next year as a squad depending on how they turn out.

He is for the most part done. I am going to replace the knife handle with a plastic one, give him the cloven feet that DG have, a bit more damage and nurgle nastiness and I am going to try a press mold DG symbol on his bare shoulder pad.

 

Now for the new ones. These guys are all still veryyyyyy WIP.

He needs all kind of damage. I am going to have a tube coming from the hole in his gut plate and I will replace the blade on his head with a more natural looking horn, as it is right now I don't feel its very Nurgley. The sculpting on his helmet will be sharpened up once its dry and he will get some death's heads.

I am really excited for the champ. The mace head will be replaced and his head is going to be replaced as well, still keeping it bare though. I don't know what to do with the spot near his left arm where his helmet is supposed to slot in though. Right now I am maybe thinking of sculpting a Nurgling, suggestions?

This guy will get more boils and damage. Not to sure on his gut. The way stuff is on him it was hard for me to do an armored gut so he is the only one with his actual gut sticking out. I don't know.

And my melta gun guy. He is going to get a gut plate sticking out from under his gun to cover that gap as well as pouches, death's heads, etc.

 

I'm not sure what to do with the last model, I don't want him to be the same pose as this one, suggestions?

Drop him in a deep-fryer. I can 100% guarantee that he won't have the same pose after that kind of treatment :P

 

More seriously, the rest of the squad look good, but I don't have any cool (and non-stupid) ideas for the last chap.

I decided to go back and revisit one of my older models. This guy was originally painted for my Demon army back in 2009ish. I thought I had a picture of him before I touched him up, but I guess I don't. I redid the base, touched up the skin, and added almost all of the bruising/discoloration to his skin. I also painted the horns black.

Now to the main reason I wanted to make a new post. I have decided to add some Black Legion to my army! I have actually been planning this for awhile, since the new codex came out actually. I wanted to paint up and use a lot of the new models, raptors, dark apostle, warpsmith, demon engines, but didn't feel like any of these fit the Death Guard style. After debating between Word Bearers or the Black Legion I made up my mind when I decided I didn't want a Christmas army (red and green). The fact that they got the first supplement is just icing on the cake. 

 

Enough talk, here is my first model, a warp talon.

I actually painted him a dark grey and did several coats of Nuln Oil to give it a softer black look, this also allowed me to make it a dark black near the bottom of the plates. I am really happy with the talons. I was going to do a lightning effect on them but figured they are Warp powered not real lightning claws.

 

I have the rest of the squad and a apostle to still paint. I will also add at least one squad of chosen and some demon engines at some point.

Tha Warp Talon is stunningly good. The black armour is quite soft, as you say, and I'm loving the claws. The best part though is the dark bronze/gold trim and I wouldn't mind knowing how you painted that part :)

Those power claws are sweeeet. Just goes to show that you dont need lightning effects for a power weapon to look awesome. And you managed to paint a black legionare just the way I like them, with brass/dark gold instead of the horrible bright one you see on GW.

The gold trim was actually something I came across when I was painting my WFB Chaos Lord for the Golden Demons. On that model everything was pretty dark and I had shaded the red armor with black, so to keep cohesion I shaded the gold with black.

 

Its just Balthasar Gold, washed with a Balthasar Gold/Black mix and then highlighted with a Balthasar Gold/Mithril Silver (or whatever its modern counterpart is) mix.

Very remiss of me not to check this thread in a while - congrats on your silver daemon, richly deserved.

 

That warp talong looks amazong, really love the glowing blades. I think they look better this way than the would with a lightning effect, this keeps them looking sleek and sharp. Blown away by the black armour, which grey did you use before you knocked it back with the washes?
