A few days ago TITH I went to Warhammer World with a couple of friends and fielded my Armour Regiment, the Parsimonius 11th against their Imperial Knights and VotannIMG_2809.thumb.jpeg.e0f382465671c5059a130d63a1864370.jpegIMG_2818.thumb.jpeg.067180626fcdb45a24451729904f761a.jpegIMG_2813.thumb.jpeg.0a1fc360b4922242059ce287fe58d4b4.jpegIMG_2817.thumb.jpeg.89e277d853775a21f6dd242ffae3b7c2.jpeg

This is what it is meant when one says he fields a lot of tanks...

Primed a Eldar Ranger thus far.

Doing a bit of highlighting on the initial yellow before the day starts in earnest (have already done a bit of raking frustrated by the mud). Working towards a more volumetric style.

Today in the Hobby is my last full day in ol' Blighty before I visit my sister out in Perth, Australia. I can't get much hobbying done, but I did manage to fit the Kill Team rulebook and a handful of models into my luggage so hopefully I'll have figured that out before I return to the UK. My laptop is prepped with my B&C login so I will be keeping an eye on this place while I am out there.

I split a starter set with another local a few weeks ago, and I've been picking at it slowly.  Got the Infernus squad assembled slowly over the last couple weeks.  TITH I tackled the Terminator Captain.  I scored some extra bits from another local's multi-part terminator captain kit a month or two ago to kitbash on the ETB one I have now.  I swapped his storm bolter for a multi-melta and decided to use a helmeted head from the regular terminator kit instead of any of the bare helmet-less heads that I had hanging around.  Just feeling like I'll probably make all my terminators have helmets, even though I mix a few bare heads into my tacticus and phobos squads.

I'm going to cut away the tyranid from the tactical rock and replace it with some regular rock, maybe ork skulls.  But I'll get into that later.

Also got one of those $15 web vouchers.  Used mine on buying an Autarch for my best friend from High School.  He's the one that got me into 40k, and he's been out of the country for a while and hasn't been able to hobby.  He'll be returning to the US by the end of the year, so I thought I'd get him something to work on while we hang out and hobby together.

Today in the hobby I...took a break from the modeling aspect of things. Not much left to do for now anyways. Instead, I went through the Warhammer Community website's downloads and got all the rules and relevant army files saved to my phone, including the Combat Patrol rules, which I'm excited to try out.

Now I can start catching up on getting into 10th (right in time for them to be prepping 11th, just my luck, haha). I've watched a lot of videos on YouTube, especially the "40k in 40" episodes by Play On Gaming, so I'm starting to become familiar with the new (for me) edition.

Finished up my Barracuda the other day, so finally took some photos of it and the gang.

I also spent a lot of time basecoating 40 Kriegers.

Saw this on Reddit, legitimately the best Tau vehicle I've seen

Built the women in the life of Niall, then called Way-leaver.

DaidreandFlesau.thumb.png.8a62cff0c77806a80db0791227c30e8c.png

Flesau Seersight - the actual leader of the Ranger coterie (though Niall had more combat experience and was hence the NCO equivalent), from Ulthwé. Calm, self-assured, and a former Warlock, but just the tiniest bit haughty.

Daidre - Pathfinder from Alaitoc. Quiet and task-oriented, but willing to speak her mind and moderate arguments between Niall, Flesau and [THE FIFTH MEMBER WHO WILL PROBABLY BE SAIM-HANN].

TITH hobby I matured a plan to kit bash some Aeldarii COrsairs and Rangers from various bitz left on sprues and some ooP Guardian bodies I have in a shoebox since the late 90´s. Or early 2000´s, I cannot remember.

With this I expect getting 25 footloggers and 3 characters out of one box bought on purpose... Let´s see if it works.

TITH I am adding some extra wolfy flavour to my Heroes of the Company.

The wolf's head on the Heavy Bolter has not quite come out as well as I hoped but I think a little green stuff should fix it.

Hands are bit shaky at the moment so it will be interesting to see how these turn out.

Not sure if you've tried this already, but if you can cup your hands together whilst painting, hand shake becomes less of an issue, because they're shaking together instead of independently from each other. Also a miniature holder makes things a lot easier, and doesn't have to be expensive.

The pencil is for illustration purposes only, I don't recommend using one instead of a brush.

Today, my eldest played his first game of 40k. He's only 5, so we simplified things a bit, and just had his tactical squad (including the two he's painted) against ten neophytes and five acolytes. It was a resounding victory for the Marines, who brutally gunned down the insurgents. He was very pleased with it all.

Nice Eldar Sven.

@Rogue That's super cool. Warhammer is a great bonding experience and very good for the younglings. Now if you get him interested in the proper, best Space Marines - i.e the Imperial Fists - then he'll be set.

Thanks, I do genuinely, appreciate the advice. That is what I particularly love about this hobby and community - (nearly) everyone is helpful and supportive.

In this case it is something I know and have suggested to others too. I should however practice what I preach as when I am 'rushing' (read as lazy) and don't set up properly I might forget and in this case I didn't have any handles out and so wasn't holding the models particularly well. I will take this as a reminder to 'do it properly'

I am generally aiming my paint jobs as 'good, for me' - so I am not being as hard on myself as I once was. I find this may lead to odd mistakes here and there that might miss the touch up stages but I have a lot more fun painting and may actually try some new things now and then vs being more rigid. If anything I think it has improved my painting standard considerably vs my younger years.

In terms of progress.....
I black lined a few more models last night and also over the weekend made a new, taller magnetic storage box so I can build a few of the bigger gribblies for my nids and possibly one of the Knights I have had languishing in my projects pile for several years.

As an aside, I keep seeing videos of people using make up brushes to do the armour layers on marines. Has anyone here actually tried that? - the examples I have seen look good but I've generally only seen it for brighter coloured armours  like BA or Ultramarines rather than Dark Angels
