dbyith i went to my local gw only to discover it was closed till three, i was there at half past two.

Yith did nothing.

Tith did the same as most of this year. Nothing. So far this year i managed to glue 1 scout and 1 sb. Glue and partially paint the jp smlt and somewhat glue a skitarii marshall.

Pretty lame, but in my defense, work is mad for most of the year, had to move house ourselves, so most wh is packed up, had to vacate my inlaws house for sale due to them both having passed away, sold said house. Nearly lost my mum to heart disease. Work started killing me more after vacation, doing the work of around 3 people atm, and beiing mostly better at it :Elite:

Looking foreward to Christmas, prolly have a heart attack then due to getting some rest :furious:

Tith I found out my local GW has been robbed twice in two weeks and the store manager, who I got on very well with and was very supportive of my hobbying, has left.

I also decided after months of deliberation not to go ahead with doing Primaris Imperial Fists for 40k.  As much as I love the IF, I don't love people. The idea of spending so much time and effort on a project where my dudes are fighting for human beings just doesn't appeal anymore. I've had my fill of dealing with human beings. To many are too :cuss:ty.

I wrote index cards for two armies in order to have a 2nd 40K solo game. Terrain has already been placed. I will  play two turns today and then go to bed. That´s a perk of having a dedicated hobby room.

Very jealous. One day I would love to have a room where I have all my books, my PC gaming setup, a hobby area and space for musical instruments. It’s a pipe dream.

After a big hobby push during the summer, I put the brush down at the end of September and only completed one model in November. Having a good stretch of holidays and a hankering to return to the 41st millennium, I picked the brush back up this weekend and have been getting a few hours in every day. Thus, I present a completed squad of Scarab Occult Terminators! (Plus an honour contingent of two Rubric Marines).

I am very proud of that right shoulder pad.

I had done two of these during the call to arms (which I failed) one was my November model, and I have a full squad of Rubrics in various stages of painting, so this was more about doing the panel shading (my favourite painting process), touch-ups, and highlights to finish some guys and get a quick hobby "win" to build up some momentum. No surprise that a bit of burnout happened during a TS project!

LNitH I got back onto the Vespid train. Got 7 bodies metallicized(?) and all but the Longsting’s weapon well covered with orange.
Next is weapons, wings, and general cleanup before bases.

Finally cracked and bought Saturnine on discount. Have to say… the Saturnine terminators were not my favourite models. Still. The books are quite something, though I have to say the lore so far feels a little sterile and compressed? Maybe that’s just me. Either way; the Mk II marines are nice.

Looking magical there. Hope you continue to push through.

Did not get much hobbying done in the last four months.  Between work and classes, just didn't have the time and energy for it.  Now that I'm on Winter break, I've been digging into it.  I bought the stormcast half of the vermintide box off eBay for an AoS Path to Glory campaign that will be going on at my local shop in the new year.  Haven't played AoS before but it looks interesting.  Got most of that assembled in the last week.  Went through and inventoried my paints.  Got some new plastic boxes and ferrous sheets to sort out my mini storage for kill teams, AoS, and 40k.  Received a copy of the Kill Team starter at the store's secret santa thing; I've assembled the loyalist marine half, with a little kit bashing to make some specialists out of the intercessors.  I'm thinking I will paint them as Imperial Fists, just for something different hobby/painting-wise.  Considered Raptors, but I'll probably be painting the Nurgle marines some shade of green anyway and I wanted to do something different.  Also considered Blood Ravens, but IF is a little more convenient in that I already have transfers for them.

Just for fun I decided to go look online and see how much it would cost to have some 40k stuff painted.

Here's an excerpt:

Professional: Well, that's the real trick, isn't it? And it's gonna cost you something extra. Ten thousand, all in advance.

Me: Ten thousand?!! We could almost buy our own army for that!!

Professional: But who's gonna paint it, kid? You?

Me: You bet I could! I'm not such a bad painter myself! We don't have to sit here and listen to––

TITH I have ordered MTO stuff for the first time. Fragdrill. I just wonder if it will take 186 days to be delivered or far less... Should we bet?

Depends, it took 8 months for me to get my Heroes of the Chapter/SM Heroes Set 1 in, 4 months for the Santcus statue, still waiting on the SW order.

Today in the hobby I put the plastic Whyces that I still haven’t settled on a scheme for since they first got released into the paint stripper.

Been playing this Thrice-Damned army since the get go…still never happy with the scheme…

Then started building a plastic Hive Tyrant to replace my old metal ones.

Today received some of the old Mk III helmets I’ve been hunting down over the last few weeks. It’s weird - I really like the models (non-compatibility with the older firstborn kits notwithstanding), and think the Mk IIs are EXCELLENT, but the MK III helms are a straight up downgrade. I thought it was a little cruel of them to feature an old style one in the artwork of a veteran legionary in MkIII armour in the 3rd Ed Rulebook. Either way, i’m buying them on eBay when I can find them.

YITHI discovered a bit of plastic glue had somehow spilled onto the limited edition Noise Marine I was working on and turned his feet and part of his shoulder pad into mush. A bit mad about that, especially as he goes for upwards of £60 on eBay. If anyone has an unbuilt one they don't want anymore please let me know.

That's really rough.  I had something like that happen to a dreadnought (transporting glue and models in the same box) many years ago, melted one of the arms and part of the base.  Not sure how your Glue Incident went down, but I learned my lesson.  Glue never rides in the same box as models.

I've started painting on my Stormcast.  Path to Glory at the local shop officially starts on Feb 7, and I want to have at least something presentable for it if I can.  Primed them last night, started messing around with getting a squad of liberators painted today.  I thought I'd "keep it simple" by using contrast paints on them but I'm coming to the conclusion that I really just don't like contrast paints.  I spent like an hour trying to neatly do the black armor (shyish purple undercoat and then black templar on top) on one model, leaving all the zenithal highlighted prime untouched for later contrast-ing, before I said hell with it and just did the other four minis with my airbrush in about 10 minutes.  I'd rather layer, wash, glaze, etc all the details and be able to clean up my mistakes normally instead of dealing with contrast nonsense.

TITH I realized I am spending too much time digitally sculpting. I was working with the Sanctifiers kit and getting frustrated by all the chainswords being on the left arms and I genuinely thought to myself no problem I'll just mirror it in blender so it swaps to being right handed before it sank it that's not how converting physical plastic kits work...
