+++E Tenebrae Lux II - Chaos Legios Strategium+++

Recommended Posts

HAHA yeah i actually have a buddy with one so its doable. hmm so i only have to do around 6k? easy day. the random crap i pulled out yesterday was almost five, and i've got about 5 warsmiths still in package. (might only be three) so that gets it almost up there. I'll have it planned out by saturday, hoping to finish my baby vow tonight while on duty

In the name of Nurgle, I PipX answer the call of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete a squad of seven Plague Marines and a Nurgle Chaos Lord on Bike from Codex Chaos Space Marines of total value 398 points on or before August 15th. Success will bring eternal glory to the Knights of Corrosion and the legions of Nurgle and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of Shame until the year-end!

My vow finally assembled and awaiting undercoating. Chosen, huron count as (really need to give him a name), 10man squad and a sorcerer who no one remembers inviting...

I hate to ask the most obvious question in the history of ever, but what on earth could you possibly ever ever ever need to field 5 warpsmiths for? One is usually too many.

warpsmith and warsmith are two very different things brother. I am an iron warrior afterall. Also i've one two tournaments using a warpsmith so i kinda like the spikey guy.

Alright, well...first time taking a challenge, but after finally settling on a color scheme for my Chaos Legion and getting a good fluff together, I can make a vow.

I, chrisman22, BladeLord of the Dread Ones, answer the call of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete 24 Models in Terminator Armour, to represent ArchMaster Xarl the Undestroyabe (A Chaos Lord in TDA, Cyros All-Seeing (Sorceror in TDA), and 21 one members of the Soulless, Xarl's Elite Terminator Bodyguard, from Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons of total value of  1402 points on or before August 1st. Success will bring eternal glory to the Dread Ones, bringing us ever closer to deliverance and redemption from our past folly.  Failure will doom me to bear the Badge of Shame until the year-end.

Hopefully I can get this stuff done before the summer ends and I go off to college. If I do I may take another one. Wish me luck :D

@ chrisman22: Your vow is in, but could you edit it and break it into individual Codex-legal units?  I don't want the value of every item of wargear, just what each unit composes of and the total unit value. Thanks and good luck!

@ Pipx: A worthy vow - and an interesting conversion... Good luck! :tu:

@ nurglez: They look inviting alright... :D Good luck finding a name for your Huron count-as.

@ Orwasitme: Looks like good progress although my eyes are getting burned with some xenos in the background!

I do want to do a follow up Vow, but a quick question first. I have 17 Bloodletters but alas, I havn't got the new Codex: Chaos Daemons yet. So could anyone perhaps tell me how much a unit of 17 is, including 1 with a Banner, 1 with an Instrument and I think 1 Champion guy for the Squad. Once I know, I'll post up my 2nd Vow. Thanks.

I just started painting myself word bearers too, I would of probably entered this but I've already slapped on the Scab red quickly.

Probably for the best though, I'm a lazy painter when it comes to standards/mould lines and no proper camera except my phone.

Do love me some kitbashing though.

Firstly: An opinion is required. I was trying to make one of my possessed weapons look like bone shredding through flesh as it emerges through armor - tell me if this looks good or what I should do to make it better:

Then, UPDATE:

972426_573803852650974_762721687_n.jpg?o

It's a really hard effect to do right (I can't do it myself). Ideally I guess you'd be wet blending it, but perhaps an intermediate colour and some wash to get a smooth "gradient" effect?

Other than that, good work and may the gods be with you :)

A real bone coming through flesh (in the case of a compound fracture) is differentiated from the flesh and the bone by a nice layer of blood. I like the way you have it done there already, but if you want to have a different transition from flesh to bone, the best answer is most likely blood imo. Of course if you want it to appear that the transformation just happened or is currently happening, there wouldn't be that dried blood layer. In any case, I would think that using a red/brown sort of wash on the "bone" could give better effect than a brown/black.
