The Blood Reign - Mortal's and Daemons of Khorne

Recommended Posts

I've decided to once again create a log in order to help keep myself motivated and receive some feedback while building and painting my armies, though this time I have the added motivation of participating in the ETL 2013 and I'm hoping to finally complete a vow as I usually tend to fail spectacularly at this type of thing. tongue.png

So, first up I've pledged to paint 1 FW Bloodthirster, 1 Daemon Prince and 10 Bloodletters. These will all be painted from scratch. I do however have some stuff that I've already completed or am already some way through. I'll post pics of these first, followed by my actual vow stuff.

So here are some pics of the stuff I've already been working on:

I'm pretty happy with the way these are turning out, especially the Bloodletters. The skull Cannon is some way through with the skin finished and the rest, besides the Black Iron sections, being atleast basecoated and washed. The Herald I started with the 5 WIP 'Letters and tend to paint him as a reward for finishing a 10- strong unit of Bloodletter's.

Next is some pics of my recently stripped Chaos marines , which i'm now building as a renegade, Khorne worshipping Space Wolves force. I have a nice little bit of backstory for these that I'm writing and will post soon.

The test model is still WIP with only the skin being finished, I'm pleased so far though. Basically they will have black armour with gold trims but their shoulder pads, chests, fists and helmets will be in red.

And finally, start pictures of my Vow:

So, that it for now.
Wish me luck! tongue.png

I finally managed to finish a unit of 10 Bloodletters. I do still need to paint another 10, which will include a banner and an instrument, as I'm planning on running a unit of 20.gallery_26383_8478_487129.jpg

Pretty happy with them and I will be happy if the rest of my army is done to a similar standard, though with the larger models I plan to spend a little extra time and effort making them stand out as center pieces.

I also started on my Daemon Prince:

His base is done besides tidying up ( I painted it separately). His skin has been washed and nearly finished with the first layer.
I'm thinking off painting his armour in a brass tone similar to the gold/bronze sections on my Bloodletters, though I'm not sure if it will be too much bling and detract from the model overall.... Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. ;)

Lastly, I've been working on a test model for my Daemonettes and can't seem to end up with anything that I like. This is my current test model:

I'm unsure about just about everything on this model. No areas, except the skin, are finished but even so, it doesn't sit well with me. Any thoughts??

Thanks for the replies Tanith Ghost and Zay Wolf, much appreciated. :)

That's all for now.

Mike.

For the demaonette, try lightening the fleshtone to a pallid, nearly albino white, but keep using purples for shading. A bit orthodox, but it works.

Drill those gun barrels, or at least give them a dot of black.

It may just be because I'm looking at these on my cell, but holy hell that is a bright red! Pretty :) however the darklining on the Prince is a bit too strong for that bright red in some of the more shallow crevaces. I'd recommend going back over those spots with an intermediate shade. The deamonette's flesh, for instance, has much smoother transitions.
