Grotsmasha's Conversion Challenge 2: Librarians Completions

Recommended Posts

Here is mine, TDA Librarian for the Phoenix Knights.

* * *

Logrus stepped over the charred remains of his former adversary, the dancing blue flames exiting from the skull being the only traces of the psychic attack's power. Laying his hand above the ethereal sphere at the top of his staff, he began to whisper ancient words. The powers of the warp were flowing between the force weapon and the old space marine, but no mortal could have claimed whether the power of the Epistolary was feeding the staff or the opposite. The only thing certain was the death of many other traitors this day.

No, I'm just saying I would vote for that, it looks bad ass.

It's put together well, I agree, but I think there's too much GK parts to not call it a GK. I thought it was a GK until I read the fluff.

At least he does not leave people indifferent :) Actually only the torso and the right shoulderpad is GK.

But  you're right, unpainted, he may be to close to a GK. I will maybe change the right shoulder with a chapter or librarian symbol.

I'll have to inspect what I have, but I might be able to enter this competition after all to give me a little oomph towards getting my Chief Librarian Eh'Tor ready for my third ETL vow. If I do enter, I'll be sure to post my intention in the other topic first happy.png

Hopefully, this'll be in the next day or so happy.png

So, here he is. Not as intricate as some of the others featured on here (he shares the same head as Brother-Captain Varagol and the Chapter Master! blink.pnglaugh.png ), but still I'm happy with him happy.png

I was going to greenstuff a head dress, but I'm not sure if it'll be a little too much for him (and takes away the status that Varagol enjoys) Maybe a smaller one might do it.

Any opinions?

Yep, still kept him as simple as i could. Pieced this guy together from a spare Thunderwolf mount and bits from the SW pack and TWC boxes. The rune staff was filched from another Rune Priest i never got around to finishing last year.

Think of him as a Fenrisian version of Gandalf the Gray. tongue.png

    Space marines knew no fear.

It was drilled into them on a daily basis. Prayers, oaths, and even shouts from their sergeant said so. The God-Emperor had removed it from them so that they might be the greatest of his fighting children, free from the paralyzing inaction or self-doubt that plagued the hearts and thoughts of normal men.

Brother Brigaine knew this. More to the point, he felt it. Though he had only been a Marine for a scant twelve years, he had already faced terrors that would have shaken his old self to the core and without a single twinge of nerves or the fluttering of noadflies in his stomach. He had faced charging hordes of Greenskins, foul eldar xenos with their flickering energy weapons and poisoned blades, and on one occasion, traitorous sons of the God-Emperor. He was an Angel of Vengeance. A space marine did not know fear, no matter what stood against him.

But Brother Brigaine did know fear, and that fear was the Warp.

He suffered this shame in silence and would not confess it; not even to a chaplain whose confidence was sacrosanct. He had seen monstrosities pulled from the Warp that made his guts run cold, and worse, one of his battle brothers had been poisoned by such a beasts. Corrupted from within, the change took only seconds, before a demon burst forth from inside him and his squad had to kill the monster that still wore the face of his friend.

Even worse, in his mind, were the librarians. Men, not even space marines, were not meant to wield such power.

His squad had recently been appointed as escort for Epistolary Oberin, and even though the memories of his old life were so much fleeting whispers in his mind,  the hatred of witchcraft was something that could not be so easily rooted out.

The epistolary was a solemn man, given to few words, but his actions spoke well enough in their stead. Brigaine had seen the man fire arcs of lightning through a mob of orks so bright that it nearly overloaded his helmet's sensors and left the greenskins as smoldering corpses on the ground. Against the traitor marines, he had summoned a vortex that had torn the very fabric of reality, cracking open the wall of a bunker that not even their melta weapons could penetrate. Most terrifying of all was when greater a daemon of Khorne had been summoned by Lorgar's bastard sons and cut their captain in half with contemptuous ease. While Brigaine and his squad had fallen back to find cover and shooting positions, Epistolary Oberin had stood his ground, and with a single thrust of his force sword, dispatched the howling beast back to the Warp.

To say that Oberin terrified him would be an understatement.

At long last, brothers, here is my entry: Epistolary Oberin of the Angels of Vengeance.

Unfortunately, I'm about to go out of town for the next 4-6 days(at least) for a family emergency and won't be able to finish everything I had planned for him - namely covering up the Inquisitorial symbol on the back banner and some more GS work to the lower legs and feet. Also, the 3/4 view was difficult to get a good shot of because of the pose, so please forgive the two pics and blurriness to some of the them - I was in a hurry since we're about to leave.

I'll have my brother's laptop to see how the results go, so keep the good work coming, brothers!

@ War Angel: I've given my word to Heathens that we'll see Captains etc next in August.

Cheers,
