Consecrators: A reboot comeback - E TENEBRAE LUX III

So I'm what you could call a long time lurker here, never really got to it to finish or upload something serious but that is about to change. The army in short is a mix of all aspects of the Dark Angels. The focus is currently on Deathwng with smaller units of Ravenwing, marines tanks, waklers as well as a couple of flyers.

I wont spam everything at once in here but rather build it up over time with a couple of units at a time. Hopefully with some feedback and tips from you - I'll give you something worth occupying your time. I tend to use bits and kits from most marine chapters to mix it up a bit, some of my models from back in the days needing a solid facelift.

But without further ado (?) I present my almost finished terminator Command squad. As you might notice there are two models with robes in greenstuff. The squad will number another two models (not currently in the shot) to have some optional models - and gear - for it. (So far this is my only squad of new terminators with robes so until further notice they will be 7, I know you can only field 5 in such a squad for games, not bending rules or anything here).

So first of I fugured I'd ask you for some thoughts about the last two fellas and what gear they should have, Currently I'm looking at Thunderhammer Stormshield for extra survivability and CC punch.

Second up is a WIP Techmarine with a counts as Conversionbeamer, not really finished with the paintjob though.

And here's a chaplain almost finished. Still a bit dark, so I'll add some more highlights to it later on when I have figured out exactly how bright colourscheme I want. smile.png

Almost finished with some Deathwing knights, another Chaplain but in terminator armour as well as a testmodel using a copy of the Vunerable Dreadnoughts front matched with a pair of relic Ligtning Claws from the Chaos.T.Lord.

Still need some purityseals and other bits to add some more details, but that will have to wait for another day or so.

Another batch of cans almost done, problem is, I lack a serious amount of Terminator shoulder pads. I've looked around on the web for options and found some sites with pads four about £0,70 each. Forgeworld also have their set of 5+5 DA pads that clocks in at £9 per set.
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space_Marine-Infantry-and-Accessories/DEATHWING_TERMINATOR_SHOULDER_PADS.html

Got any good sites i might have overlooked you know of? I require pads for about 25 models with terminator honours for left arm. With some luck I can persuade some of the local gamers to contribute some spare ones, but I still have my doubts I'll find 25 pairs...

Many thank's bro!

So back to my current work, I have two pairs of terminators (two in robes for command service, and two regular with Cyclones), never mind the last bugger, I'll deal with him later. >:3

What gear should would you recommend for the last two commandsquad members? I'm thinking Stormshields and Hammers, but I also need the squad to carry the standard, tactal tips on who that lycky guy should be? :)

Concerning the Cyclones, what gear is a good match with a cyclone on top of your head? Regular powerfist+stormbolters? More hammers and shields?

Reasons why is very appriciated as I have not played DAs in this edition yet so I'm trying to have target priority from shooting in mind as well as CC survivability. Ofc the squads will be CC/Shooting oriented most of the time but one can try to plan ahead right?

I favour the Standard of Fortitiude, which means everybody in the command squad - apart from the champion - usually gets a hammer and shield. Magnets are another possibility.

Your conversions are breath-taking, and so many of them too!

Very nice conversions, that first picture with the terminator with duel swords looks awesome, is there a shield mounted to one of the arms?

I agree with Cactus about the load out for the command squad.

Looking forward to seeing more, Great stuff!

Thank's Cactus, DR! I don't find the conversions to breath-taking. smile.png

At the moment 'm thinking about was what gear matches with a Cyclone and why?

And what is this: E Tenebrae Lux II ?

Interesting. I'm intrigued to know why you're blocking in the hollow areas above the arched head-section of the terminator armour? Also, are you sculpting that greenstuff work from scratch (the GK termy style legs and plasma cannon its arm for example) or using it in moulds?

Cheers

The Deathwing Champion, Knights using their shields as shields instead of just carrying them, and the plasma gunner on the left. All are dynamic models. The dual swords model and the sergeant slashing at the beacon thing are very original too.

Whatever gear fits with the rest of the squad really. That's the beauty of the cyclone missile launcher - whatever the unit is doing, it also has two missiles per turn!

And what is this: E Tenebrae Lux II ?

It's Captain Semper's inter-forum painting contest. All the details are here.

I, Lord Jimmy Rajden answer the call of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete four five man terminator squads, a company-master, interrogator-chaplain, techmarine and librarian from Dark Angels current codex of a total estimated value of 1800 pts on or before August 15th. Success will bring eternal glory to the Dark Angels and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of Shame until the year-end.

How is that for a start? smile.png

I see we have some questions!

I'm intrigued to know why you're blocking in the hollow areas above the arched head-section of the terminator armour? Also, are you sculpting that greenstuff work from scratch (the GK termy style legs and plasma cannon its arm for example) or using it in moulds?

To answer that as one question, you are correct, the greenstuffed parts are not 100% sculpted but cloned usinging something called instant mold to make temporary moulds, that can be filled with greenstuff for cloning. This is also why the hollow areas around the the arch on some models is filled as you noticed. The main reason is because its hard to make a perfect clone, and as such i filled them to hide some beauty spots. This is why some models have very long GS Purity seals along their legs. whistlingW.gif

The Techmarine is really impressive !

Thanks! I really wanted a conversionbeamer with a uniqe look and didn't want to buy one from a "third party". Came out just as I wanted, not entirely sure if I can use allies in the E TENEBRAE LUX though. :/

the terminator with duel swords looks awesome, is there a shield mounted to one of the arms?

Bingo! Yes indeed brother! it was my first "new" DA build for a Chapter champion but then i remembered i had completely forgotten about the Hilebard of Caliban. So he is a counts as lightning claws model. Here's another angle for you along with my WIP Chapter Master! msn-wink.gif

The armless ones from last post makes a new appearance WITH ARMS! YEAAAAAAH!

And as a last update, I thought I'd ask you guys on you oppinion on this fella right here. Should he be looking to his right a bit more open/ in motion to shield lbash - or - facing his shields direction with a generic (boring?) combat look?

@Rajden - make sure you post your vow in the ETL II Thread otherwise it won't be counted towards the competition! :)

Nice models - looking forward to seeing them all painted up :tu:

Deathwing Command squad finally done! The pair of hammer+shield terminators were the last addition. It's funny how much a little arm swap from the standard SS-arm can do. The hand holding the shield is originally a closed that with little effort with the knife was made holding the shileld on top. I Had to make a new handle inside though. And I magnatized the banner. smile.png

These are Hi-Res pictures that I didn't scale down for closer detail. Which I would like to ask you about, do you mind the size because of slow loading time for the page - or prefer a higher quality from time to time?
(Click them for link to photobucket to see Hi-Res)

I also finished some more cans... Jeez, this is starting to get very repeating.
Let's shake things up! This is my question for the day:

What I should post next? Let your imagination go wild and see if I've got some surprises up my sleaves. msn-wink.gif

Still waiting for a couple of suggestions of what to post other than Terminators.
So until then I guess I'll just continue posting more cans. teehee.gif

Here's a set of Dark Vengance Terminators, very beautiful models I must say!

http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk232/Frozac/Dark%20Angels/20130609_221946_HDR_zpsc6273081.jpg

And for some spice I wanted a Chaplain with the Monster Slayer sword. It's still a couple of details I have to add like powersword wires on the blade, but a progress pic can't hurt right? msn-wink.gif

Another nights work and here we got more progress with some pictures of - drumroll...... - Terminators! :3

We have a Librarian on top and in lower mid is a standard Sergant with power sword(s) and stormbolter.

And here's Belial himself. I might pimp him some more, any suggestions on how/with what?

The tusked termy head is a bit wild for an Imperial outfit - as is Belial's head.

But liking the creativity here. Can't wait to see some paint on them.

Thanks Galthan! thanks.gif
The sword is really huge, originally I made the blade and had it lying around for ages just waiting to be modelled and equipped for that chaplain. Never got around to do it though - until now that is. smile.png

@Isiah
Yeah I figured there are way to few loyalist armies with horns adorning their armour as it's not mutations or anything - so I digged out some oldschool metalheads and tried it out. It's just going to be this one squad plus Belial so it won't really affect the outcome of the over all theme. If I think it looks out of place when they are done I might concider switching. Thanks for the input though. smile.png

And I'm still holding out for someone to suggest me somthing (to build and) post other than terminators for the ETL. I mean, you don't think this is all right? I am waaaaaaaaaay ahead of you for the progress of ETL, just don't want to sound the alarm with the opposition. Thanks to not having a job for the moment I can work on my Dark Angels all day long if I want to - and I am, some days. msn-wink.gif

Now make me a suggestion. I dare you. cool.png

Still very undecided about the tusks... they look kinda neat, but I really don't think they fit with any other imagery or visual style used. Typhus' head is questionable too but closer, I think.

Also: you should be careful about the face on the shinplate of the sgt I think!
