Just trying to finish a project

Recommended Posts

Greetings Brothers,

I'm a long time lurker on B&C and I felt it was time to share what I'm working on.

I'm currently working on a Iron Hand force for the September Battle Brothers at Warhammer World, I'm hoping that If I post here then it will keep me on track to finish the army before staring a new one. If I don't, please pester me to keep at it!

To start off, here's a Sergeant test mini, just to get the paint scheme right. Please feel free to comment, I'm always looking to improve my building and painting skills:

Thanks for the comments, I will try and make the photos bigger!

I may have got a bit carried away while painting, I forgot to take pics for the latest addition to the army. I'm not the greatest photographer in the world so I apologies if the photos are rubbish.

Sergeant, finished:

These are just the first 3 of Tactical Squad 1, just order the part for the plasma cannon and IH upgrade parts so hopefully I can get the rest of the squad build by next week. Currently painting the next two squad members, will post photos soon.

I'm also working on a master of the forge to lead my force at battle brothers, he's only undercoated at the moment, but I'm not sure how to paint him. I've done some research into the IH but I can't tell if the techmarines of the IH follow the standard red or the normal IH colour scheme. I know the Iron Fathers follow the IH scheme. Any ideas?

I'm using the Valthex model for the MoTF as his load out is a conversion beamer.

Thanks for looking!

looking good! I'd suggest looking into washes as a means to apply some shading on things like the white (or use reeeeeeeeeeeeally watered down shadow grey) same for some of the metal areas and skin. You'd be surprised how much of a difference some well placed washes/glazes can make.

kudos on getting the eye painted, painting eyes is horrible :)

only other suggestion might be to look at thinning your paints down a little, most of it looks good, but the white is a bit lumpy looking - same for the silver wings on his chest.

overall effect is very good though, and I look forward to seeing more :)

Thanks Blindhamster,

I did use washes on the metal areas, then highlighted up again. I know the white isn't the best, will definitely be watering it down next time and see how that goes.

A bit more progress today, the next two members for the combat squad have been started so I will probably finish them tomorrow:

Hoping to have the combat squad finished over the weekend so when the parts I need next Wednesday, I can get straight to work on them. I also started these two today:

Basic servitors to accompany my MoTF so he doesn't get shot to pieces in turn 1.

Thanks for looking!

So half the weekend is gone and I've got more hobby done than I planned! The latest two members of the first combat squad are finished and ready for battle. With the white bolter casings, I tries watering down the mix at each stage so hopefully the white looks less lumpy:

(sorry about the quality of the photos, camera isn't working properly)

I also managed to raid my bits box to make an Iron Father for my army:
