Hello Bolter & Chainsword,

This is an old project that I've had in the works for quite a while now, and I believe I started posting it long ago.  I have sense forgotten that Login, pretty sure the e-mail is gone, even if I could remember witch one I used so I made a new account here, and am Reviving my Dark Angels Successor Chapter, The Prism Blades.

First up, Tactical Marines:  Thinking of modifying them to remove the Non-Dark Angels version of the tactical markings.

Veteran Sergeant's: (Note, arms are magnetized with the following options: Bolt Pistol, Plasma Pistol, Chainsword, Power Fist, considering adding a variety of power weapons [mauls, swords, and axes] with the changes to how power weapons and challenges work now)

My Land Raider Crusader:  Having concerns on how to "designate" Deathwing vehicles with my current paint scheme.  It also needs some touch up/repair work now.

Future & Semi Started Projects:(In no particular order)(No Pictures yet)

  • Squad of 5 Ravenwing Black Knights, Using the Forgeworld outrider bike models for this plus some other DA bits to make it interesting, waiting on forge world to send me my bikers atm.

  • Finish Deathwing Command Squad (Awaiting new 1/8th in magnets for weapon options)
  • Convert Legion of the Damned models into Command Squad (Metal Legion Models, heavy converting needs to be conducted)
  • Fix my "Custom" Chaplin Model

  • Paint my 3rd Tactical Squad (Dark Vengeance Models)
  • Paint Devastator Squads
  • Finish my "Counts as Belial" 1st Company Master, Lance Love.
Input, feedback and constructive criticism are always welcome.

The scheme is bold and unashamed, most impressive!

More comments when I get home and have recovered from my eyes being shocked!

I already like the Champion. Which is really saying something, because I hate that helmet with the fiery vehemence of a thousand dying stars... So kudos!

Their very fabulous. More importantly- champion Bob is a great kitbash.

It is funny that you use the term... "fabulous".  That is what I was going to have written on the Deathwing company banner.  I was going to save Lance for later, but here he is, because he truly is becoming "fabulous".

I had to tear off his old arms and magnetize them to allow him his full range of options, damned new editions.  While I was working on this project I went to a drugstore with my fiancé and ended up in the nail polish aisle with her (she asks my opinion on colors because I have a good eye for it most of the time) and I spotted the fingernail jewels and grabbed them right up.  I think it was like $5 for the package; still have tones left to deck out the terminator command squad (non on bob however he was well into painting when I found these).

And speaking of Bob, here are some WIP painting pictures:

Ricky Martin's smoke launchers are very strategically placed!

Wow, I can't believe I just said that.

I call it the pelvic thrust of concealment.

They are a tad flamboyant for my tastes, but it does take guts to paint a whole army like that.

Your paints are a tad thick in some spots, so I would suggest watering them down more. Usually I do 1:1 paint to water ratio, sometimes 1:2 depending if the paint is old or more dense like most metallics.

Take your time building the models by shaving off the mold lines. Because you wash more than half of the model, those mold lines stand out a lot because the wash builds up around them. It takes a little extra time to remove all of them, but I think you will like the end result more than not shaving them off.

Cheers.

Slow and steady progress but first up, replies smile.png

With the pink and the shaving and the bejeweled behinds- this thread is going places. As for the lightning claws termie- i call dibs on "the love lance" as a band name.

Friend, if you can find me 28 MM guitars I will personally convert his command squad to have them incorporated into them somehow, and the deathwing company banner will read "The Fabulous Love Lance~"

Yes I did notice the paint went on a bit thick in spots, some of that was to cover up mistakes while painting with other colors likely, and the other component of that is many of my paints are up to 10 years old or more. Hell I even have some old GW inks that are still liquid and not evaporated/caked to the screw on pot. Honestly the camera makes those imperfections stand out a lot. I see a lot of small things I can fix that I simply did not see at my painting station.

I didn't see many mold lines, on Bob, please point out ones that are glaring to you so I can try to fix them. I really want Bob to turn out well. I know Lance has a lot, he's still early enough in the painting process to fix that however. I sware to the Emperor himself introducing the foundation paints to there product line was the best damned thing GW ever did. Thank you again for pointing it out, really helps a lot.

Now moving on to new and interesting things. While working on my DW termies (24 regular, 4 sergeants, 5 DW knights, and a 5 man command squad) I wrote up some prototype squad formations I could and would build in that range of models. I'll spare the details (unless someone really wants to discuss it, probably not the right forum for it) I came to the conclusion that to minimize model wastage and maximize funds invested (READ: being a cheep-skate) I Determined I would need 5 Terminators total that can be equipped, via magnets, every Heavy Weapon, ranged and Melee weapon combination possible. 4 for the standard squads and 1 for the command.

The main problem with this approach is acquiring said weapons. DW command squad boxes are somewhat expensive, but currently offer the only terminator plasma cannon available. They also pack a Cyclone missile launcher to boot. Keeping in mind that I blew my Warhammer budget for the next few months with maybe enough to spare for 1 more box of DW Terminators, I would still need 2 more heavy flamers, 3 more plasma cannons, and 3 more cyclone MLs. that a lot of extra terminator bodies I don't need atm and would actually increase the number of universal equipable that I need. Bits order was a flop, all the sites I normally use are totally out of terminator heavy weapons.

So after a bit of thinking and digging through my bits archives I found my unused bits for armor sentinels. Never used the armor option, scout was to much fun. so I had 2 extra plasma cannons, 2 missile launchers, and 2 heavy flamers. They are slightly larger then the terminator version but not grossly so. So I grabbed one of my MANY assault cannons and started cutting the gun from the firing trigger to create the following:

satisfied with how it looked put back together I went to converting the other weapons:

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/Zerhou/DA-WIP/DW-C-Weapons-3_zps4d20644e.jpg

And now here are some photo's showing the weapons assembled and compared to the normal components:

Lastly, a picture of all the heavy weapons and my idea for the Cyclone Missile Launcher (way at the top):

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/Zerhou/DA-WIP/DW-C-Weapons-1_zpse56f99c3.jpg

This has worked out nicely, I still need to come up with 1 more plasma cannon and 2 more missile launchers. I would use the Land speeder version but those are just way to huge imo. Any suggestions on something I may be over looking for parts?
