Tanhausen's ETL

Howdy?

Last day before going back to work and made a final push in order to help in the effort (translation: would not accept being called an Oath Breaker!!)

So...

The vow:

I Tanhausen answer the call of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete one Chapter Master with artificer armour, power field generator and plasma pistol from  Codex Dark angels of total value 155pts on or before August 15th.
Success will bring eternal glory to The Dark Angels and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of Shame until the year-end

The pics seem a bit big, but don't know how to make them smaller...if some mod knows how I'd appreciate.

As you can see, our subforum brush-pushers have not to fear my rivalry...but I'm quite happy of the result, specially taking into account it took me 5 hours of work from sprue to pic (that is VERY VERY fast for me) and that I did a pseudo NMM instead of going for gold+inks.

Anyhow, comments appreciated and how it meets the criteria to chip in for the ETL...which was why I painted him :)

Take care!

Nice work Tanhausen, and a very crafty way to score a good number of quick points. It would be unsporting of me to copy your idea, especially as I have two of those models unpainted. I assume the large tactical squad marking on his shoulder indicates he's the master of the 6th or 7th company. whistlingW.gif

I fear he's doomed to be killed or seriously maimed by his overheating pistol because the techmarines neglected to drill out the barrel to release the plasma!

Thanks for the comment Cactus (and stobz)...with 50+ views and no comments I was thinking I had done a real blunder and people didn't consider it decent enough :P

Feel free to copy/steal/plunder the idea as much as you want :) That's one of the best things we got around here...soooo many ideas/input from quite an array of people...

As for the tactical squad marking...errr...hmmmm...*** scratches his head *** WAIT WAIT, I got it! Maaaaaaaaybe he proves that he hasn't changed from his days back in the tactical squads!

Plasma barrels...never drill them! Dunno why...just feels weird. Will consider it for the LPC contest though! haha

Thanks ;)

Hi Tan,

I'm not a fan of glossy armour (just a personal preference) but I do think the highlights on the green are very nice. If I could offer a couple of points for consideration:

- a black wash on the chainsword cover to darken down the red, followed by an edge highlight in the original red (is it Blood Red?) would help better define the chainsword

- you could pick out the trim on the bottom of the robe in a darker colour to help give more definition

- a dark wash on the white icon on the left shoulder pad would help to bring more contrast out in that as well. Follow it up with a gentle drybrush of white to pick out the highlights and you're done.

Anyway, just a few small things to consider, but overall it gets a thumbsup.gif from me!

Thanks for the tips :)

The red is Vallejo Model Air Ferrari Red: its a pain to cover but I like the vibrant tone. It does turn out a bit flat, I agree

The trim...yeah, I noticed when I posted the pics...but I don't have more time right now for paiting, so I called it done. TBH, there are several details I would like to finish at some point in time (trim, better shading of the head, darkening the armour joints)...but in this case it was a matter of completing the vow.

I'll keep the ideas in mind when I go back to the model :)
