Ok another painting update. My wolf guard terminator squad. I was dreading painting these guys so had them built for ages but finally decided to get cracking on them. Once started they were actually good fun to paint. I have magnetised all the arms so combi weapons/ axes ect can be swapped around/changed as needed. Had an old terminator that came free with an old white dwarf ( last freebie I ever got from gw :( ) so added a few wolfie bits to get an extra body if needed. Overall I am happy with how these all came out.

Hi solo. Sorry for such a late reply but not checked I here recently. My armour is done very simply. Basecoat with boltgun metal, wash with babas black then 2 washes of agrax earthshade. No edge highlighting needed as the washes give a natural edge to the armour. I have lots of pics to post so will get a couple up today :)

Ok an update finally. My unit of thunderwolf cav. I magnetised the arms at the wrists and on the storm shield so all weapons are multi changeable to power weapons ect if needed. I used the weapons from the chaos knight kit as they looked suitably nasty for warriors of the vlka fenryka.

Awesome cheers guys. I use tamiya clear red for the blood but I do it in a couple of steps. First I mix it with a little black then add a clear glue like uhu, which sets very quickly. I then mix it all together and apply it with a cocktail stick. This gives the dark red gory base layer to the blood effect (and also adds texture to the blood somit looks gloopy/gory). Once dry I then go over it again with pure tamiya clear red and spread a little. Ore on the edges for the pure blood look. Below is my thunder lord. I have done a little minor converting work on him. I sculpted more onto his moustache so it flows longer and looks more like a beard. Also press moulded a severed head and added this to one of his sides. I then magnetised the left shield arm at the shoulder and the right hammer arm at the elbow so all his weapons can be swapped out as I need ( whilst keeping the awesome drake cloak on him all the time ). He is painted in the same style as my other thunder cav. Lots more to show you as I have not been idle these months of silence :)

Right folks. Dead excited with the new wolves codex so decided I needed to start making some more units after a very long hiatus. I decided I wanted a unit of skyclaws as they looked pretty cool after the points drop. I went with the mixture of shields and warrior of chaos weapons as per usual for the feral viking look. Just in case I wanted to run a unit of blood claws instead I magnetised the jump packs so that they could be swapped out for normal packs as needed. I am working on a murderfang conversion using a contemptor dread and the new gw kit. Looking pretty awesome so far so keep tuned for an update soon :)

I thought I would post up some wip pictures of my murderfang conversion I am currently working on.

I am a huge fan of the contemptor dreadnought models done by forgeworld, and with the wealth of dread options in the new dex I decided to combine the bits from the new sw dread kit and a contemptor, as I think the combo will look awesome. The idea is to have 4 conversions eventually from the one plastic sw kit, so I would have bjorn, murderfang, ven and normal dreads all with the same style bodies.

I have made a start on my murderfang conversion, as he is the model I am most taken with at the moment, both rules and model bits wise (yes I am one of the few that actually like the bare head from this kit). It has not been too complicated so far, and the only greenstuffing I have had to do is repair work to the pelts on his arm and filling in the rest of his head in the cockpit, as it looked a little strange and empty at first. I am currently waiting for another arm to arrive but wanted so show some pics so far as I will start painting him before the other bits are here.

Thanks guys :) I have had a lot of fun converting him and once the other arm arrives he will look epic. Can't wait to start my ven dread one now with the axe and shield. Just love the thought of a charging Viking dreadnought swinging a huge axe on front of him :)

Howdy folks. Been preparing for the blog wars tournament and I needed some grey hunters with boltguns, as most of mine are currnelty loaded with close combat weapons and I need the extra points for other goodies. These 5 chaps are built using the sw and tac kits, with a few sternguard bolters thrown in. Pretty happy with how they have turned out. Got 5 drop pods to paint now :(

Alrighty folks. I have a competed murderfang for your perusal. The arm finally arrived so I was able to start my paint job on this badboy.

I followed the standard paint scheme for my army, but with a few added highlights, just to make him stand out a little. The face especially I like as it adds a nice focus point for the model (and no self respecting space wolf army is complete without a redhead!). The claws were a bit of a challenge as I wanted them to look like icy shards. I think it works. I am dead pleased with the paint job overall, and my average sculpting attempt at fur is not too visible.

This paintjob was not trouble free though as I had a problem with the darn varnish! Unfortunately it was my paint on vallejo gloss varnish. It bubbled and pooled in a couple of recesses and dried a horrible white. I had to carve out the varnish with my knife and repaint the damaged bits. Sheesh I am not having much luck with my varnishing at the moment. Luckily my testors dullcoat arrived yesterday so the matt coat went well :). Anyway let me know what you think of my take on murderface :)

Work has started on my next conversion. Yet another contemptor dread kitbash! This time it will be using the shield and axe options. Gonna look awesome :)

That Murderfang is pretty inspirational, I love the work that went into it and it just looks like all the bits were made for this one model.

The paintwork is ace too.

Out of curiosity, the contemptor arms, did you by 2 close combat arms and fit the Murder claws to them?

Did it keave you enough bits to make a dreadnought with the rest of the new SW Dread kit?

@ rift blade. Thanks very much :). I am getting ready for a tournament in november so am churning through stuff at a pretty quick rate (for me) so hope to post something soon.

@dantay_xy. Cheers :). A sign of a good conversion is when it fits together like it was made that way, so I am chuffed you think so. For the arms I used two close combat ones, but used the fist parts (including the 4 slot circular claw mounts) from the dread kit. I have enough bits left over to make a full plastic dread, although I have had to raid my bits box for more claw mounts, as only two come with the kit.

I am using some leftovers for more contemptor dread conversions, so watch this space :)
