@Svenghali. Thanks very much. I am pleased you like the scheme. Good luck with the painting of your vlka fenryka :)

@Amarog. Cheers dude :) . To do the blood I use tamiya clear red (althought the new gw blood paint will work just as well I think). First I mix the red with a little dab of black and mix some UHU glue in. Then I use a cocktail stick to apply it to the model. This gives the texture and dark stringy gory effect. Once dry the pure red is them applied over the top and further to give the brighter fresh blood look.

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely give this a go.

Nothing too exciting today folks, two drop pods completed. A necessary evil I am afraid. I managed to paint them at the same time without tearing my eyes out or shoving the blasted things in the skip. The trick was to leave them at the side of my desk as I was painting other stuff, and just paint a little bit every day. A door here and a panel there and soon enough they were done (I say soon enough, but it actually took two months all in). Unfortunately I have two more to do but these are not needed for blog wars (a tournament I am attending in June), so can wait for another time when I am feeling brave enough to have a crack at them.

As usual I started with a black wash over the chassis, followed by three heavy brown ones for the worn and weathered look (Infantry only have two brown washes but these need more as there is a much larger surface area. I really quite like the splotchy and drizzled effect that the wash makes on these. Makes them look quite oily and grimy. The rest was blocking in the colours on the doors and adding weathering to blend it all together. For a model I have hated to paint the end result is not too bad. I should have done a much better job but I could not summon up the courage or motivation to do so.

Thoughts and comments always appreciated :)

Just a simple converion to share with you folks today. My wolf priest on bike.

I started with an old(ish) ravenwing biker I had sitting in my closet for a couple of years. The robed body was great for the base of the priest, and I simply embelished it with a line of wolfy fur on the edges. A grizzled head from the grey hunter kit and a chopped down nemesis staff from the GK termi kit For his crozium was enough to make the rider feel like a grizzled veteran, shouting oaths and blessings in equal measure to those around him (I did add a few scrolls hanging from his belt after, to add to the general theme).

For the bike I decided to not change too much. I like the back banner the ravenwing have, and after a little consideration decided to keep it. Once painted in the red and white colours of my warband it will fit in just fine. I added wolf pelts to the handle bars, scrolls to the front of the bike, and a plate to hide the ravenwing sign on the head lamp. The hardest part (and my favourite) was the exhaust extenders. They really add a cool element to the bike, and also make the exhausts a little more believable (?). I made them out of plasticard rods, sliced at an angle on the ends.

@Bladewolf. Thanks very much :)

@Seleucus. No problems so far but I have not had too many games with them. I can't really see it being much of an issue, as they are just there as a representation of the servo arm. If someone has a problem with it (which I think is unlikely) I am not sure what I would do tbh, as there is no way on this earth I am ripping the arms off :D

You go back outside to your car and get a wrench , then you  come back into the gamestore and you place the wrench on the table. You  explain calmly to your opponent that its a servo arm one more time.   He will ask you what the wrench is for and you  will reply   "in a moment, dentistry."

hahaha, wrench and a dreadsock, never go gaming without them.

as far as problems re wysiwyg goes, i dont think it would ever be a problem unless you decide to play the biggest (insert curse here) on earth or perhaps in tournaments.

as long as you are using it as a servo arm, and dont try and benefit from the rules of a harness, you should be golden with most folk.

edit -- oh, and he looks (insert another curse here) awesome!!

@Bladewolf Lol :D I think I will be packing a wrench from now on in my KR case.

@Amarog. Thanks dude :). I hope people will use common sense and just be cool with it as a nice conversion (using servo harness rules of course). You never know though, there is always 'that guy'. Which is why I will have the wrench :D

Bjorn the fell handed

http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg600/creamywynch/0dd24bd159732d5a758c6aba823f7c73_zps2c05sqwh.jpg

Hey folks. Life is very busy at the moment, as a new arrival to the family arrived on Monday. Sleep is now a distant fond memory, but I have been able to do some hobby in between changing nappies and feeding. If you are interested in seeing on the moment updates please follow me on twitter at @NafNaff81, or view my blog at www.objectivesecured.blogspot.co.uk

I finished this Bjorn conversion a little while ago but I completely forgot about it. I am not a fan of the blocky dreadnought style so based my conversion on a contemptor chassis (as they are sooo awesome).

http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg600/creamywynch/82ac906876d7623fb79a31bf5d91b34d_zpsyls00oie.jpg

Bjorn is a heroic figure in space wolves lore and so deserved a little something special to make him stand out from my other contemptor conversions. I started with the skull head from the space wolf dreadnought plastic kit. It did not fit properly so I had to create a greenstiff stool for it to sit upon and I then used my tentacle maker to hide this with pipes and cables.

http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg600/creamywynch/530c9a2a57b6580d6eed6bb166bffc05_zpspqcp8pyb.jpg

I drew on runes all over the chassis with a sharpie, and then started painting over each one with liquid greenstuff to get a raised effect. This was quite a painstaking process, and actually dragged out over a month or two as I would do a few runes and then have to stop as it drove me crazy. Each rune has at least 5 layers of the GS painted on it to make it really pop out.

http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg600/creamywynch/f416c164b3cf7c70be947146bfef8235_zpspobwzm46.jpg

Two of Bjorns decorative plaques were press moulded with silicone putty and then cut down and bent to fit onto the side Leg plates. I then used greenstuff to blend them back into the leg and sanded it all down to try and create a smooth blend. I was not overly successful with this, but it looks good enough to get away with once painted. I had to resculpt a chunk of the wolf pelt on the shoulder as it would not fit and I ended up snapping it

He is armed with his signature power claw, and the right arm has a frost cannon (using a conversion beamer). Both arms have been magnetised at the joints so I can swap out the weapons for other loadouts if needed.

The base needed something special so I cut up a model boat I found on a model website and attached a chain to the anchor for a proper centre piece. The model was then posed as if to lean on it, surveying the battlefield.

I am very happy with the overall conversion, as there was a stage where it did not look very good, but once all the parts had been assembled and posed it all came together nicely. What do you guys think?

@Amarog. Thanks very much :). I am really pleased with the boat. It adds a little something special I think, and a character of the stature that Bjorn is should def have a little embellishment :)

@Konnavaer. Cheers. It was certainly a slow process, but well worth it. Glad it shows :)

I came here looking for a story  about how you beat an opponent about the face with a wrench at yer last game.

Cant say im disappointed by what I did find though , spectacular work on the dreadnought yer modeling skills are top notch.
