Honestly i'm surprised that people get so bitter about FW.

Part of the grief, I think, is that some people have, or think they'll have, a hard time getting it or getting it table ready. ForgeWorld is not an option they think they have, so to make if 'fair' they don't want anyone else to have it either, regardless of whither its bork or not.

 

 

FW was not always as good at writing rules as they are today.

 

 

Well, I'm certain that a number of people got a flyer or super-heavy dropped in their faces without really having anything to do against them. Still, my IA volume 2 does state that your opponent should be fine with you fielding non-flyer, non-super-heavy stuff. After all, why would your opponent be able to say you can't field rhino-chassis variant X when you can't tell your opponent he can't use that Eldar Avatar of which each Craftworld has only one which gets awoken in only the more dire circumstances.

 

To make matters worse; some armies' only real answer to flyers these days lies with FW (*cough* Dark Angels *cough*).
