ColdWinter's Word Bearers Army Blog - Update 8/22/2013

So to get ready for my next army project (and hopefully one I will finally stay with ). This will be a dual army as both WB Hosts are the very same just from two different periods of time and hopefully make an army that will support both 40k and 30k battles. So without further a do here is my test mini and first Word Bearer of the 17th Host!

So any thoughts on what should be improved and is the colour scheme ok?

If you are doing pre-heresy, then the scheme for the WE is white and blue. If you wanted to make an army that would work for both time periods, then I would suggest using the original legion scheme and just add lots of blood to it. 

 

If you aren't interested in being fluffly, then I think you have done a solid job so far. I would use starker highlights as the model looks to muddled in certain areas.

Word Bearers, not World Eaters, lol.

 

Pre-Heresy Word Bearers would be dark gray. But they changed early, so if you mean during the Heresy, then the color can be the same. 

 

And I like that look.

Thank you brother Noctus I was going to say Word Bearers have dark crimson and silver as an army colour, my pre heresy army will be during the Shadow Crusade and Post Heresy will be most likely sometime during the 13th Crusade

@Sun Reaver No problem I sometimes make that mistake as Word Bearers and World Eaters sometimes seem written similar in my mind I will try a bit more brighter highlights next time, cheers!

@Jaspcat Hahaha of course we must crusade together to bring the truth of chaos to the loyalists!, some dead Ultramsmurfs will be in my army

So just primed the Champion from the DV box and then next time I will have some Termies to join the army, the reason it won't be the rest of the Chosen from the DV set is because they were...cannibalized for other marines . So until next time!

Ok small update here is the Chosen Champion still need to highlight the flesh fix OSL on the helmet lens, pistol on the right needs to be painted handle on the maul needs to be painted, eyes on the daemon eyes on the leg needs OSL.  There are a few other things like basing but other then that he is done, enjoy Champion Krazus:

@batu I do love Space Marines they are one of my favourite armies

So the Chosen Champion didn't come out exactly as I wanted as the armour is a bit glossy which gives him a shining effect, but nevertheless he is part of the brotherhood now and I will not be rid of him anytime soon. I will most likely buy some Terminators next but that may change to some normal Chaos Marines, this is left undecided as I am racking up ideas for some major conversions and sculpting (which imo I am still learning and an initiate at) for a few character models. So wow it has been a few weeks of busy working and little time for my army but now that most of the things are over for now I have recommenced my army. I will have to go to overdrive as my local GW store has agreed to let me host a new campaign which pits Chaos vs Imperials, I of course will be leading a Word Bearers army and lucky for me I scheduled it for 2 months. So without boring you any further I have some updates not big but it is something for the time being:

I added something like a tattoo on his head that goes from the eye to a bit of the side of his head, what do you guys think?

I'm thinking of doing a small planetary empires campaign here in Aus using planet strike zone mortallis apocalypse and cities of death in the istvaan v region.

@Jaspcat Yes the campaign I am hosting will be using Planetary Invasion, Zone Mortalis and Apocalypse, though so far I may only be an observer if I don't get my army up and running

Now here is an update I mainly finished a Pyro Marines (TF2 anyone?) and I am still in the process of finishing a sorcerer which both models need GS work, so enjoy the early WIP guys, cheers!

Well I think I wrote up a name but that comes later first I need to buy some Green Stuff to create his robes which will cover the harness and make a hood while also sculpt some candles on him. The Pyro marine needs candles sculpted and some flesh-parchment other then that he is done

So another update on my two current marines, and first up is my Sorcerer though I must warn you the picture doesn't do the mini justice nor am I a master-class sculptor so bare with me here though I can assure you I will paint him well enough for all to recognize his glory.

So here is an update though one I am deeply unsatisfied with, I tried some OSL for the Sorcerer and what happened what it just looked glossy and not even like OSL at all so I had to repaint over the face and some parts of the armour which then I also had to repaint over the sword and now the model is ruined. Next time I will concentrate on less OSL with power weapons and instead just do a normal beaten silver look, so here he is
