Technically there are the 40K novels by Anthoney Reynolds(Word Bearers) and Nick Kyme(Salamanders). If you're thinking Heresy era specific, there's some for the Word Bearers in the IA articles. The Salamanders just kind of have a huge hole in their history where the Heresy is concerned. Both Legions will be in one book, Forgeworld's Massacre, which is supposed to get released pretty soon.

Bam! Who is the king? Who is the KING!? Oh yeah. I win, Kol loses. I know, I know, I shouldn't gloat when the outcome was never in doubt (really, Kol? Night Lords? Bleh, bleh, ve are za Lords of da Night, won, to, tree ah ah ah ah), but it's just fun, y'know?

Prime, there are two major books for each. Both have a limited edition short story, Promethean Sun and Aurelian. Not sure if they're available for mass market yet or will be. They both have a main series novel, The First Heretic and Vulkan Lives.

Know No Fear and Battle for the Abyss are two books that have the Word Bearers present as primary antagonists, though I should warn that Battle for the Abyss has gotten some pretty bad review.

The Dropsite Massacre books have Salamanders, however they are very much sidelined. Angel Exterminatus had a single Salamander character who, along with a Raven Guard, survived the Massacre alongside a ship's worth of Iron Hands.

Pffh, at leat it wasn't some cheezy name like the Emerald Tigers. ;P

Hmm, Vulkan Lives is more of Vulkan book than a Salamander book I'd say. Even then, I'd say that it is more of psychological-dealing with mental trauma kind of story rather than "This Person A". If that's what you're looking for, then okay. There is also Scorched Earth which is a direct order novel. It has some Sallies on Istvaan V in the aftermath. That one might be more Salamander-specific, I'm not sure since I haven't read it.

Betrayer and Mark of Calth also hit up big time on the Word Bearers as well, but again, thy are in more of a "sharing the spotlight" portrayal.

Okay, I was joking, but that was just dark. You went to a hurtful place.

I knew I had missed some, but I think that now we have covered our bases. Other than simply reading the series for those guest spotlights scattered about.

Tell you what Kol, the next "30k Legions, what do?" thread that crops up, I'll raise a sinner's red hand of my own. You can hold me to it.

got to ask when are we going to see some paint on some minis?

Soon, hopefully. all I got right now is some mk 5 suits to get used to it.

on that note. I am getting rid of the Word Bearers! I know, I know, but I am getting ready to return to college. I am trimming back all aspects of my hobby.

so, it's just the Sallies for me.

fair enough! maybe in the future I will pick them back up, but for now they are on hold. now what am I going to do with all this Grey paint?

Although, who am I fooling? I'll need Allies(pre-Istvaan) after All.

Grey paint? Space Wolves! :woot:

Yes, it think we rarely see SWs in the 30k setting. And why not? Dark grey and just a SWs box for the accessories and you're done! A fantastic 30k force they'll make...

ALSO BE AWARE THAT THE HORUS HERESY WILL SOON GET THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES BY CAPTAIN SEMPER - JUST LOOK IN THE WIP FORUM AROUND SEPTEMBER 1ST!!!

If you want to get some serious Word Bearer goodness then really The First Heretic and Betrayer are where you want to be at but since they're HH books you really need to read most of them in order sadly. Aurelian should be back for general release sometime in the next few months too so I'd pick that up as well. Haven't read Ant Reynolds' Dark Apostle Trilogy but a friend of mine has recommended it so probably worth a look. Apart from that expect an avalanche of fluff in Massacre.

But seriously, Word Bearers over Night Lords??..............

Anthoney Reynolds WB(WB18, I miss that channel) series is a 40K series. I would hesitate recommending it for HH-era WBs. And since Prime has temporarily cast then aside(Haha! Told you Cormac that WBs would lose!), well it could be seen as redundant.

Maaaaaan... I would have gone with Night Lords.

Skulls, bones, blood, darkness... fear... THE TERROR. They take something like Alien when I watched it when I was like 2-years-old and crank it up to 11. The world couldn't contain the volume my diaper held. They're the most metal bat-cluck insane bunch of degenerate ignoble coward supersoldiers you could ask for. They hang your still breathing body from a high lamp post by your bleeding entrails just to say "hello" to your parents or children...

I kinda just want to model a huge pile of corpses and terrified, screaming civilians, walk into a game store, slam them on the table and say with the cutest most innocent face, "here's my Night Lords army! teehee.gif"
