Lords of Terror. Night Lords 8th legion

Ive been a nightlords fan since they were in slaves to darkness with khorne markings. ive built this army several times but was never happy with the models. with Doghouse's truescaling tutorial I found what I wanted and with the return of a old friend that started the nightlords forum back in 2004/05 I started trail and error to start on the road to build the 8th as I envisioned it. with inspiration from Dark Ven, Brother Heinrich, and others plus what I learned from Dan the Demon I hope this will be the first of many to come.

he still has some work to be done but i think he's about 90% built. fluff for the army can be found in my blog here on the B&C as well as some concept sketches that I'll be updating for true scale. with massacre right around the corner This will be a wonderful Ride! enjoy The Darkness.

Looking good! Great use of vampire count components. I particularly like the grave guard pauldrons as knees.

 

You might want to put him on a rock or something, though; that blade looks like it's almost scraping the table, and if if's doing that on a flat surface then it's going to snag on terrain and the raised parts of realm of battle boards and so on and you'll be forever repairing the paintjob (or worse, the mini)

A Kvlt Ghost: agreed ! I really need to do something with the base just not sure what yet. This model was built as a Tribute To Knightmare who started the night lords forum. still have some details to work out. most likely it'll I'll go with urban basing but any recommendations would be taken. 

 

 

 

 

while I Refrence Dark Ven and Brother Heinrich's work i dont mean to disrepect anyone. their just the top two off a list of members of this forum I draw inspiration from thats longer then my arm. if it wasnt for all of you the hobby wouldnt be where it is and none of us would be challenging ourselves to push our talent. so thank you for all your work if its green stuff, kitbashing, painting or all of it. Thank you and I hope that I bring fear and terror to inspire.

Thanks Doghouse. if you hadn't did your tutorial i'm pretty sure I'd still be treading water in hate of my force. With your tutorial and Inspiration on this board from members like those already mentioned, Biohazzard, Black Adder and others I hope to make a force that really brings Terror. not sure how others will like the force being truescale but in the end its my army and thats what matters right?

Your demon prince is on the right track and fits with NL theme of course. I'm happy that you're doing something different from the legs included in the box.. I don't really use that model for Dark Apotheosis because of the legs alone. I use the Transcendant C'tan for my Tzeentch party surprise, aka pop goes the weasel. 

 

Can't wait for more.

Still progressing on the DP. had to pull the wings off as I'm reworking the armor. base is getting slightly repostioned too thanks to a small accident with it. wasnt happy with some aspects of it so this gives me a chance to fix them. left leg is the most done sitting at about 60 %. hopefully I'll be able to post up more wip pics as the details get laid onto the model.

once again back with another update. this time i've stepped back from the demon prince as he's got we rethinking some things so I decided i have just about everything for Night Captain Lahash to be finished.

still need finish his robes and add hair, refind his shoulder pads and finish cleaning up little things. thinking of removing the thorns on his leg but undecided. once again any comments or suggestions would be great. and thanks in advance.

Oooh he looks lovely in that terrifying sort of way mate. His claw looks a bit thin though from the photos, maybe it isn't but could we get a little closer look at them? Otherwise he looks awesome, love the chainglaive.

thinking i need beef up the wrist and back of the hand slightly to make it look like the gauntlet was ripped through. sorry for the poor pic but it was just something quick from my iphone.

Luther soon as i get everything nailed down I'll start painting again. have a new airbrush I'm messing with that should help matters.

I may have glossed over it, but what's the white putty you've used on some of your projects? Milliput? Good to work with?

milliput is what i'm using currently and its pretty good to work with but i'm waiting on my magic sculpt to arrive as I like it better. but for cost both work well and I've have magic sculpt hold better shape edges then brown stuff.

Okays so after looking through my brother nightlords threads I see that renegade loyalists like the raven from prince of crows seem to be popular. I had planned on adding a few to the 8th warband lead by HellChyld. but how to make them interesting? after a conversion with luther I had my answer. so "Join The 8th"!!!

 

all you need do to join the 8th is be one of the 1st 20 to submit a name, chapter or legion, short gear description and how the renegade became part of the 8th during the post heresy. it could be when the nightlord ravaged the worlds as they fell back or in the years to follow till current time. I look forward to your submissions.
