What's the ETL good for anyways?

What's the use of the ETl anyways?

I mean, so many pro painters, people vowing THOUSANDS of points, revowing...come on, nobody can live up to that standard, right?

Maybe :)

See, I'm a very erratic painter: it takes me forever to get pumped enough to grab the brushes, RL gets in the way (talk of an Archenemy...)

But boy, seeing all these people so hiped up, comitted to their chapter and giving it all they have...

Since I didn't want to lose my super 155 point vow (disclosure: didn't want to carry the Oath breaker), I pulled back from actually making a... (ready?) 549 point vow!!! Now that per points ain't that much...but painting 36 models? I mean, I'm a pure DW player, that a whole ARMY!

Anyhow, enough ranting, here's the meat:

Not even primed... (the devastators and assault marines completed the vow to 1k)

WIP, with the 3 marines up front showing the different stages of the shoulder pads

Completed! Varnished and everthing:

They ended up dirtier than intended (after all the painting, I gave them a suttle Quickshade coat and varnished them matt).

I'm not very happy with the bases (they don't stand out) but the mission was to have a tournament level army (3 colours) and these are above and beyond.

Don't know why the red casing in the bolters turned out soooooooo dark....who knows :S

Anyhow, just wanted to share and Captain Semper, if you're reading this, a huge part the motivation for having these models finished (all the assembled tacticals I could find home) is due to you.

Thank you Brothers for being an awesome community!

*** runs away...no, nothing got in my eye, its just allergy... :P ***

Ahem, allergies, yes.

Congrats Tanhausen, they do look great!

I agree RL interferes too much at times. Also the other DA's helped inspire me to complete my own too, without them I wouldn't of got there, but by the end I really needed a rest. But now I get to play with my painted figures. That really is the best part, everyone who took part made some way to having a painted/completed army.

Your bases aren't bad at all, maybe if you want, glue some grass or extras on later, or even dry brush some highlights, take your time.

Keep enjoying your army, no matter how fast or slow you paint them!
