I've decided to start an allied contingent for them, which may become an army in it's own right in time. I've decided to go for Crimson Fists, and begun highlighting the armour on my first guy today. The highlighting is quite a heavy contrast to the base colour, which was a conscious decision but I know it's not to everyone's taste. War009 and Battle-Brother Ludovic - The recipe for my blue is: 1. Spray whole model Chaos Black 2. Spray around the whole model at a 25 degree(ish) angle with the new Macragge Blue spray (this give some pre-shading to the undersides) 3. Wash the model with Druchii Violet. This gives the purple tint to the armour. 4. Wash the whole model with Drakenhof Nightshade. This clams the purple down and darkens the armour down to the base colour. 5. Highlight all armour panels with Macragge Blue. 6. Highlight all armour panels facing the direction of the imaginary light source (always top left for me!) with Alaitoc Blue. 7. Highlight all prominent armour panels facing the imaginary light source with Hoeth Blue. Done! Obviously if you want to go less extreme on your highlights you could just use Macragge Blue, or Macragee Blue and Alaitoc Blue on the highlights. It's such a part of the CF character that I should make the effort to reference it on my models somehow. I could maybe make some movement trays with fallen brothers on tthe spaces between my guys. Dorns Fist - I haven't actually done anything to the armour highlights! I think because I'm taking the photos on my phone and the lighting largely depends on where the sun is in the sky (I live in a east/west facing cottage on the wrong side of a hill!) the contrast on my photos is a bit of a lottery! I've finished the first gut (minus gun and shoulder markings) and I've practiced free handing a CF chapter symbol on my test model's shoulder.
