BrotherJim
alrighty, not much of an update this week I am afraid, I got majorly distracted, by what I like to call "project : super-posable space marine" but to pick up where we left off here are some pictures to go with my pseudo tutorial first up, clean and assemble your miniature, undercoat, basecoat, apply a thin wash overall, this will act as your guide coat first basecoat yellow, brown and black next do metallics, bronze and boltgun WASHES!!! wash boltgun metal with darktone, wash bronze with soft and strong tone, line in all shadows with darktone, yellow gets soft/strong tone highlights, tidy up yellow, decals, base and weather still need to do their backpacks taadaa!! also last week I ordered white dwarf 283 and it arrived. if you dont all ready have it, I highly recommend it. its main feature is the 13th company that was released for the eye of terror campaign. they have the index astartes articles, modelling workshop, painting guide this issue is from the golden era when Justin "boo" Keyes was the editor. this issue was like a walk down memory lane for me, it must have been part of my inheritance from Jacob. there is even an army feature on a chaos army that uses parts from a confrontation miniature, and they have a picture of it! in white dwarf! ahh the good old days... there is also a modelling workshop on making mutants and a painting workshop on plague marines. its funny because at random I chose another white dwarf, 323, and it also has a modelling workshop on mutants? curious after reading all of the great logs on here this week, I had a feeling that I could build anything, and boy did I try!!! here is a shot from my desk about mid way through the week also I was reminded that I have that magic sculpt stuff, these were my last attempts, doors are tricky because they need to be perfectly straight, and not too thick! decided to scale things back a bit and try my hand at pouches, wolfskulls etc not much left to do on the army, I really wished id stopped building sooner, as it stands I have nothing ready to paint atm, so I have falling back on some sisters of battle I have about the place. speaking of which, I realised I haven't even shown you guys the bigger picture, I took this photo 3-4 weeks ago when I started the log, and meant to post it then, so far I have updated two squads of grey hunters, completed the blood claws, and completed grmnar and njal. next up is the wolfguard and runepreists, then I'll change gears and go into tank painting mode what you are looking at is not only the fulfilment of my childhood dream, but also, the last 3 years of my life! its good to look at it and say, wow, I did that! can you tell I have a thing for symmetry? the list is basically 2 squads of 5 wolf guard in tda, dop pods 4 squads of grey hunters in rhinos (may consider swapping two for drop pods) 2 squads of long fangs 2 squads of scouts 1 squad of 15 bloodclaws so really disappointed I got carried away building, when im so close to being finished. Laborious
Wow! The army looks amazing all ranked up like that, mate. I hope you're very proud of what you have accomplished. Really excellent work. :) Your weektime building looks to have gone really well, that guy on the end with the sniper rifle looks cracking! Really simple but striking pose. Love the way he's striding forward, gun held at ease but ready to fire in an instant. Are the arms from the new tactical kit, or have you converted them? BrotherJim
thanks brother I appreciate that, I am really pleased with the army. haha that guy is my prototype alpha legionnaire, whenever I convert a new pair of legs he insists on trying them all on. the arms are converted from regular chaos shooty ones, the legs came from nurgling6688 tyrant rises log http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/226049-the-tyrant-rises-update-101213/page-15?hl=astral claws Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280917-jims-space-wolves-wip/page/2/#findComment-3502784 Share on other sites
BrotherJim
i'm tired, thinking hurts, take photos, leave comments, be well. decided to have another look at some bikes for the army, after reading valerians awesome tactica, ima thinking ill need some a wolf priest, the main thing I like about this guy is that he looks crappy from every angle but this one, he's so busy lopping heads off updated built this grey hunter squad to replace the one with running legs, they just looked out of place. in future all running will be done by the blood claws. a wip of the hqs, stopped to do the bases and didn't really get started again heres a shot of the blood claws now they have their fancy shields heres an idea I've had kicking around for awhile, reminds me of nighthunters stuff. would make a cool diorama, or I could run it as a razorback and magnetize the scouts... obviously very wip. I feel a bit stupid posting up my blutacked stuff, but getting the right bits where they need to be is have the battle won around here. ok so got stuck into the landraider with some weathering powders, this lead me to remember I have imperial armour modelling materclass, reading this lead me to go and cry in the corner for all the awesome I will never be. really left me wanting an airbrush, which is an old battle around here. at any rate when I look at the model, the dust reminds me of arrakis and that's good enough for me. its a shame because I did do some battle damage but after all that dust you can hardly see it. so now some shots of the hq, stopped to do the bases, didn't really start again, still wip I have been working on some scouts to replace the metal ones, went to take them of their bases when disaster struck, its no biggie, just another delay I realised I updated the greyhunters without a proper showcase, so here they are, the main thing we are looking at it the highlights and weathering around their ankles, also how good marines look when you just leave them be :) painted up all my plasmas, also really pleased with the armour highlights on this guy love this guy a better shot of the power sword/frost blade also really like this guy, hes a long fangs sergeant straight from the space wolves kit painted some wolf standards for the grey hunters kinda steamrolling through things now, if you want additional commentary on anything just ask this is as far as I got with the 13th company, the plan was to keep the grey hunters standard, and only convert the wolf guard... hah... its no problem just meas more time before any real progress ok so here is the army when I started the project log and here it is now, except in this shot there are no characters, wulfen etc ok folks, well its been fun, but i'm afraid that its goodbye from me for a little while, I've really enjoyed keeping a progress log. Sadly I've been neglecting other aspects of my life, so its time to get back to being the man. its all about balance. anyway ive always been a big fan of necromunda, and I really like inq28 and that kind of stuff, failing that these next guys will go towards a renegade guard army that is working with the alpha legion so long take care! BrotherJim
so yes I am back I do love it around here, what can I say. Mainly I have decided that I will keep snapping photos at my desk and dumping them here. When I get the chance to do a showcase outside in the sun, I will put them here and in the thread I have in the spacewolves forum. and possibly start one in the hall of heroes. need to stop being lazy and build a nifty lightbox like that one I saw in that awesome night lords log, then hopefully I can take decent photos upstairs. so this happened in the spacewolves log, and I came home today and did a little investigation to see whats what. Wow! I love them! How did you do the fur cloaks for the Wolf Guard? cheers mate glad you like em! the cloaks came from the warriors of chaos, and not without a lot of cutting! first I built them up completely then I grabbed some cloaks. then I cut them up and rebuilt them with blu-tac. take your time with the shoulder pads, only trimming away as much as you need. you may need to cut away some if the butt area. roll a ball of green stuff and fix the chest to the cloak, and a smaller ball and fix the chest to the legs. push and pull until it looks right, use another marine as reference. the main thing is making sure you get enough depth and height in the chest. in the end I used plasticard on the back of the chest to save green stuff. leave it to set overnight. come back and do the shoulders. roll two balls of green stuff and set them where the shoulders should be, cover them with the shoulder pads. use a tool to back fill the shoulders and smooth out the gaps cut your arms at the elbow and pin them. once the shoulders have set you can drill some holes. back fill all gaps with green stuff or liquid green stuff, do what ever it takes to get the head on... sorry I can't give you some pictures to go with, ive got 5 dudes that are wip if you wana take a look? might compel me to finish them Yeah! Thanks for the advice and the inspiration! I'm going to make my own, brother! Thanks again! lets take a closer look so here they are. was really tempted to make my 13th this way but decided to use the cape to designate rank. I made life easy on myself by using the new space wolves kit exclusively. so I had one of each set of legs to work with. then I grabbed all the shiniest weapons about the place and set to it. so here are some photos that show where I left off lets take a closer look at the finished product to show where to make the cuts, pitfalls etc this is the most convincing angle this angle shows how helpful the new shoulder pads can be, use the dangling totems to your advantage, and for reference. this last guy I might make into a rune priest I might finalise the last 5 of these guys and snap photos where I can. I think I will make all my rune priest etc in the this way. so that's it for now hope you enjoy! BrotherJim
thanks BCK, I aim to please. well its a long story. the only person who could/should stand around so casually in an army is the boss man. so thats the reason he became blackmane. once he was blackmane he needed to be a swordsman. the coolest sword around is... so what happened is that I updated his pose to match the 13th theme... not really talented enough to sculpt fingers on sword hilts just yet... I really want to make this pose out of mk6 or even mk7, then he can have his fancy sword back. I guess he was a proof of concept, now that I have mucked around with the chaos legs I feel more confident about taking a knife to my precious space marines. really want to encorporant the 13th in my army, just not sure how at the moment... thinking ill probably go all out on a band of warriors and then scatter some bits (chainaxes, chainswords, shields, chains, trophies) throughout the rest of the army to toughen em up the guy who has caught my eye is this one thanks again Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280917-jims-space-wolves-wip/page/2/#findComment-3517531 Share on other sites
Brother-Chaplain Kage
If you simplify the shapes, fingers on a hilt aren't that hard. It's a few rectangular shapes with dividing lines pressed into them to differentiate the fingers. BrotherJim
hmm yes. if I get the first rectangle down how long should I wait until I carve the fingers? and how long until I can do the next one? I enjoy working with greenstuff but I always end up tampering with it too much... and im far too impatient to let it cure. is there something simple I can practice to build up my skills... like idno, building little pyramids or something... actually, the one thing I really want to know about green stuff, beggin ya pardon sir, is there some kind of non-stick surface I can work on stuff, then once its cured a bit, fix it to the mini, or to ppl do all their sculpting on the mini itself? thanks for the advice mate Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280917-jims-space-wolves-wip/page/2/#findComment-3517571 Share on other sites

BrotherJim
cheers brother, you'll have to clarify mate, I only have a running scout with a shotgun, or close combat weapons... at any rate you'll havta get your hands on of the old metal scouts still available from gw, or ebay... there are a few with different load outs... might be worth waiting for finecast, its a real shame to hack them up ive attemped a few from plastic, seems more effort than its worth but do-able... one day big fan of your fists btw Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280917-jims-space-wolves-wip/page/2/#findComment-3517598 Share on other sites
Grizzly_bear
I ment shotgun really.......lol yeah that marine, and I see. I didn't they were doing them in fine cast. I thought they'd stopped making them scouts altogether And thank you fella. Brother-Chaplain Kage
hmm yes. if I get the first rectangle down how long should I wait until I carve the fingers? and how long until I can do the next one? I enjoy working with greenstuff but I always end up tampering with it too much... and im far too impatient to let it cure. Make the rectangular shape for the hand and immediately press in the lines for the fingers. Use something with a thin edge, like an X-Acto blade, as some of the sculpting tools out there have a thicker edge. That's the most aggravating part of working with greenstuff is just doing a little bit of work on a figure and then putting it down until the putty cures. That's why I have so many different figures going at the same time, so I can put one down and do some sculpting work on another one. is there something simple I can practice to build up my skills... like idno, building little pyramids or something... actually, the one thing I really want to know about green stuff, beggin ya pardon sir, is there some kind of non-stick surface I can work on stuff, then once its cured a bit, fix it to the mini, or to ppl do all their sculpting on the mini itself? thanks for the advice mate You could do it on something like wax paper, but it would get misshapen when you tried to remove it and put it on the figure. BrotherJim
the wheel of time turns, ages come and go the wheels have been turning slow around here of late, just wanted to catch up some photos here I am taking brother cages advice, though I think I misread it. really just embarrassing, though it was fun and easy, I really need to allocate more time to playing with greenstuff, as it stands im way behind heres a a wip shot of the wolf guard and this guy and this is the last time I will show the 13th without any paint on em, I promise :) did a final cull and choose the top 5, though to be honest im not very motivated to work on them. just don't like the chaos armour, the kit itself is great, but the armour is not to my taste... please let me know what you think :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280917-jims-space-wolves-wip/page/2/#findComment-3521501 Share on other sites
BrotherJim
hey ok update time, remember these guys boom! so now I have no reason to build anymore troops :( ok aside from that I wanted to put the Jim, into Jims spacewolves. so we are all on the same page. to cut a very long story short. was introduced to 40k and gw in 93, when I was 9, it was my good friend who owned a spacewolves army, and it was the apple of my eye. had 2nd edition and necromunda and spent a lot of time drooling over the box art and miniatures. painted up the tac squad when it was new, assault squad, scouts and random other pieces always collected white dwarf and thought the hobby was too expensive (Australian prices) discovered internet, discovered you could buy plastic from overseas at decent prices, discovered b&c, went ape:cuss. okay so that's about where we are. theres a lot more to it than that, but that should keep us sailing for a little while. so I've been having fun investigating the game and writing up some lists. this has left me thinking its finally time to build my hq, and I think I will really need some bikes also. maybe some hq on bikes? anyway heres one of many problems I have throughout the army, lets do an investigation... here we can see, that this "wolf lord/rune priest" simply is not badass enough to lead my army. although he has his foot on a rock, he does not have a badass wolf cloak hanging from his shoulders. the problem with the WOC cloak conversion, is that it can inhibit the posing of the wearer.... and it takes a long time, each case is different and there is no set way to achieve results. so what is too be done? had a go at lorenzen's cloak tutorial, was fun! this is the kind of job I can sink my teeth into, so I have hopes. not really sure what im doing (as usual) just having a crack and trying to get to know the job. I just aimed to get the cloak on a brother, no sculpting or anything, just a practice run... so it was fun and I learned a lot, all of which ive forgotten at the moment, I had plenty of questions too but they have slipped my mind aswell! heres another "problem" I have with the army. lets look at my greyhunters first off, im sorry I didn't arrange them into their grey hunter/blood claw groups. in my mind these guys look far too fancy to be grey hunters, with all that bronze armour trim they have going on. also, gw took all the obvious builds. if you can look at these squads and shed away all the wolfy stuff, and just look at the profiles, for me this is the next logical progression of the tactical kit. lots of nifty builds straight out of the box, no conversions required. the problem I had moving on from here is that I didn't want to repeat any of the builds already available, so it left me with very little room to move. the more space marines you build the more you gain an appreiciation of spam. to be honest now I know what I know about collecting and building, I would probably choose a more regimented legion/chapter. however all of my doubts wash away when I look at the other codexes. the SW codex to me just makes so much sense. I would love to build it again, but with "vanilla marines" idno its one of those ideas im sitting on. fact is I have a lot of plactic space marines (MK7) I live on my own now, and money is tighter than it was, the reason behind this project log is to focus my efforts on what I do have and stop wislisting... so I really need to come up with something to do with all my gear, I really just want to build this codex again... ill talk more about this later. anyway more spacewolves! here are my greyhunters ;) these guys I love, nothing too fancy just my day to day ground pounders. I will play most of my games with these dudes here are some close ups of some of the recent completions still couldn't bring myself to completely finish them. but still the most I have done on one squad in one sitting. so now I am thinking about either more wolf guard (woc) (combi-meltas) or some hq in tda, my bikes (hq?) and how to make my current power armour heroes look more badass. still putting of vechiles largely due to how much paint and wash they eat.... having a lot of fun writing up list and seeing what I can make up, and seeing what gaps there are in the army. really keen to do some playtesting... I had the whole army all ready to go on sunday. took me nearly two hours to blutac everybody down (I don't have an army case atm) then a friend dropped in unexpectedly, and he brought beers, so I didn't make it down.... oh well try again this week also here is my box of stuff waiting on paint, hopefully this will shame me into painting them found this guy while looking for something else, my first ever 13th company made over 3years ago hope you have enjoyed, please leaves comments, ideas, keeps me motivated. todays update was brought to you by Codex: Inquisition. so if you are anything like me you are thinking- rumours of 40k skirmish game, blanchitsu "inq28" style articles in white dwarf, and now a codex that allows all imperial armies to take an inquisitor = mystery box, plastic inquisitors for everybody! god I hope so! not that i would run them with my wolves of course, but still im pretty freaking excited ciao! BrotherJim
thanks deathspecter, I really appreciate your feedback alrighty guys, not exactly the massive amazing update I had planned, but I've been super busy lately and my hobby time has taken a hit. however the inspiration has been coming thick and fast and tings are quickly getting away from me. ok so the question is, what haven't I been doing? I posted in the space wolves forum an army list for review, and got some great advice. the topic of bikes came up, then somebody else posted in the forum asking specifically about bikes, which lead to this http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212788-swift-claw-bikers/ which is a article written by the great Wolf Lord Valerian. so really loving this atm. so much so I built all my bikes. atm I have five, so I decided to build my Wolf Lord and RunePriest on bikes, as well as one wolf guard armed wit power fist. which leaves me with one regular swiftclaw and an attack bike. now unlike everything else ive been doing so far, I had to build these right up from scratch (well not from scratch, but you know what I mean) I had to assemble them all make decisions about converting, gap fill, clean mold lines etc.... took me the better part of a week. now im really excited about my bikes, but I will not be showing them today I want to try and hold off until they are complete, they deserve an update all to themselves, I have lots of photos of the wip etc and there is a lot I want to say about them. (never really liked bikes but after working on them now I love them!) *ahem* also I discovered this http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282223-valerians-guide-to-army-building/ which is valerians guide to army building, again extremely useful. also I built my 5 hq types, Wolf Lord RP etc, really chuffed with these guys, so much so I wanted to name them and begin chronicling their sagas. so I tried google, something like "inspiration for spacewolves names", which inevitably lend me back to the space wolves forum where I found this http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/279336-naming-inspiration/ which was awesome and full of great links. now all of this caused me to look more closely at the Vikings aspect of the spacewolves culture and quickly found myself on wiki with about 30 tabs open. this is something I really want to talk about in a future post when I have more time. one of the things I love about 40k is the way it feeds back into our own history here on earth. in my experience truth is stranger than fiction, and I've always loved learning more about our history and culture(s) now this really got me going. reading about the viking age reminded me how much I love pagan and indigenous cultures. now I was raised as a Christian, but here in aus, as kids we learn a lot about the aboriginal indigenous culture at school, couple this with the bible (which is so fething insane and hectic, at least the old testament) now enter 40k and necromunda KABOOM *head explodes* remember please that I was 9-12 years old when I first encountered all of these ideas. so 40k will always be tied up in my childhood. also this reminded me of a series of fantasy books written by steven erikson "a tale of the malazan, book of the fallen" the best way to describe this series is the say, that steven erikson is a gamer, like proper gamer, role playing gamer, old school. they are "new age" fantasy, where things don't always work out the way they should now some of the battles in these books read so well, and so smoothly you can literally imagine it is a tabletop game. just really great books. the point is there in a race/culture in these books called the T'lan Imass. its been a while since I read these books but the t'lan are basically Vikings crossed with native American culture (at least in my mind) so they are basically mother:cussing space wolves without the space part. so really need to re-read those books asap. now im looking trough my codex and thinking this just doesn't cut it, I need more! so I posted a question in the heresy forum. again lots of great feedback and advice ( I love this place, we stand on the shoulders of giants!) in the horus heresy I have read the first five books, and I am halfway through "fulgrim" but I only have it on audio book and I'm not a fan of the voice actors. what I do have is "a thousand sons" "prospero burns" and also outside of heresy I also have the battle of the fang. so after getting some great advice and realising prospero burns was written by Dan Abnett (my fav atm) I decided to jump ahead in the series and read prospero burns. golly! im only up two chapter three but already im so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!! really awesome crunchy action and it is so nice to finally be reading about MY legion, rather than reading cool ideas and trying to come up wit a way to roll them in my sw thing.... so yeah expect some radio silence while I do my homework now for pictures! hooray! haha this is a viking monument I found, just made me chuckle, even the Vikings knew that putting your foot atop a rock makes you exponentially more awesome. this one I think would make a cool objective marker (something I really want to start thinking about ok and into the glory. if you have been following my work since the ill fated blood angels build, you will know I am really great at starting charcters, but not so great at finishing them. more recently you will remember I have been on the one hand experimenting with sculpting cloaks, and on the other hand I've been working with press molds.... *light bulb* tada!!!! now im not certain how far I want to take this, atm I am really just mucking around playing with all the various cloaks, trying to understand how they work. I think at the end I will do a combination of both sculpting and press molding. if you take the mold out after maybe 3-4 hours it is still quite maliable, it cuts easily and isn't too brittle like it is when completely dry. also I have been practicing sculpting fur, so hopefully those among you that have eyes to see, can see where im up too and wher im heading. now im not certain, but I think I will paint these guys completely first, then work on their cloaks seperatly, the attached them, then paint them peace brothers hope you have enjoyed, thanks for reading I know its a drag. any ideas or advices, please share *mutha:cussingspacewolves! BrotherJim
hey alright so a lot has been happening, and I will be sure to get to everything in time. today was the day I finally got down to my local gw for a game! pretty exciting I must say, I had a blast! the manager there is a pretty cool guy. this is a rarity I know. I used to hate going to gw, but since they downgraded to one man stores, thankfully they kept the cool guy. *phew* not to start a rant, but I remember going to the old gw hoping for some advice about painting tanks, in my current scheme. the advice was that I needed to buy the how to paint citadel tanks book. oh you have it? how about the citadel spray gun? oh you have one? at this point he looks at me like i'm wasting his time, so I just left... but thankfully, the kept the cool guy. now without further adeu, my army basically runepriest (rides with greyhunters) 5 wolf guard tda, power weapons, drop pod 2 squads of greyhunters I squad of longfangs, missile launchers (they are hiding in the trees) the manager was playing his black Templars against a tau army when I arrived, but he lined me up a game with a bloke there, whos name was Andrew. so Andrew was kind enough to run a game for me, he had brought along his elder army, but usually plays necrons or spacemarines, he tells me. his army was pretty sweet, from memory it was something like a wraithlord, some spirit seers farseer types, 2 squads of wraithblades (these guys were lethal), a squad of guardians, and a wave serpent (not really certain) they were painted in the fashion described in wd recently (white undercoat, cassandora yellow wash, white line edge highlight, blue etc) they looked pretty good I must say. Andrew is new to the army, and spent most of the game with his head in his books, cross referencing and figuring out how to shoot all his weapons. this didn't bother me even in the slightest because he was such a gracious games master, it was great, I think it worked out well for the both of us, he got to play with his new army, and I got to ask all those dumb questions that need to be asked when you are just a beginner. that being said, I think I am one of those guys haha, you know, that guy. I don't really see myself as competetive, winning or losing doesn't really bother me. and I spend most of my time laughing and joking and making dakkadakka sounds. but still. this is war. I didn't come to lose. so this is the battlefield, from my side. should have taken this photo after deployment, but I got caught up in things. we didn't get to finish our game either, we only got to turn 3. the store closed at 6, but I think we left around 7, so im grateful to the manager for letting us play on. like I said ive been going to the store for ages now, talking about my space wolves, and today was finally the day. I think he was pretty stoked with the army. I know I was. it was so awesome to see them on the board, amongst the scenery (of which there is plenty!) ok so Andrew deployed his wraithlord and wave serpent (with wraithblades inside) behind the building on our right. and his other wraithblades and guardians behind th building on our left. we played dawn of war, the relic. like I said I got caught up in things and so I cannot give you a decent play by play. but basically I went first, and I did what any upstanding wolf lord would do. I landed my drop pod in his deployment zone, the wolfguard in tda emerged and fired the cyclone missile launcher and all their stormbolters upon his guardians, shredding them to a man, including the spiritseer (warlock guy, whoever, someone important) to the point where the sergant of the squad fled the field of battle. ok at this point I felt pretty bad, we worked out that my wolf guard alone killed like 230pts in that one round of shooting. I think next Friday Andrew will be bringing his necrons but it was so awesome! othe stuff happened, I moved my rhinos up, and my long fangs attempted to climb upstairs in a building, and failed. this is where Andrew explain about snapshots, and what not. so I think next time I will deploy my long fangs somewhere useful and leave them there and shot stuff first turn. in this game I didn't get to fire them at all. also I tried to fire my runepriest, but this was denied. so the wraithblades were pretty upset. on their turn the charged my wolf guard. this combat was the highlight of the game for me. my wolf guard used counter attack, and I tink I came out on top for that first round this two units stayed locked in combat for the rest of the game, it was so epic, those wraithguards are tough to kill, we basically went one for one the whole way battle. ok hopefully my photos are coming out in the right order, im losing track of everything... ok so on the right hand side of the battle field the wave serpent moved up and the wraithblades disembarked, then it pulled some elder shinanigens and turned around. after seeing these wraithblades perform against my wolf guard, I was not keen to let tem near my greyhunters also the wraithlord moved up. so again I did what any sensible wolf lord would do, I reserved outta there (effective opening up the firing lane for my other squad) disembarked my boys then all of my greyhunters and runepriest opened fire on the wriathblades... rememeber how there was five of them? bit of a glammer shot of my greyhunters so it was a great game, at this point I was pretty confident, I wish we could have finished it this was the real highlight for me, just imagining what these to units looked like locked in combat, duking it out, the sounds the weapons would make and the way the moved. so then the wave serpent moved up and fired all its weapons on my greyhunters after tis Andrew attempted to use his wraithblade to destroy my rhino in combat, hoping it would blow up and hurt my greyhunters, cool move. there was also a squad of sniper ranger types who were in a building the whole game shooting at stuff to no avail.. and that was turn three and home time im afraid. I had a blast, it was great, Andrew was great and really helpful. still lots more going on around here, but ill save that for next time, but here is a teaser speak soon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/280917-jims-space-wolves-wip/page/2/#findComment-3539175 Share on other sites

BrotherJim
cheers sir! ok just an update for the sake of progress. every now and then I like to take a step back and have a muse about the project. celebrate my victories and learn from my mistakes. so the first thing is that I finally got my wolf lord on bike, painted enough so that I could glue him together. really excited about this as it is my first bike ever! on the flip side kind of annoyed I didn't just paint all of them (or at least two!) would've saved a lot of time. I should have had more faith in myself. at least he is a model that I can use on the table top straight away having said that he is still not complete, but closer next is a 1500pt list that I will be playing with, until I decide to change it and lastly, in an effort to avoid doing jobs im not good at, I made a vow in the space wolves forum for winters advance, to paint up these models (for the full story check the spacewolves forum) oh and here are some photos that show how retardedly thin I keep my paints a wet pallet dry pallet I always start my updates with heaps of energy and lots to say, but by the time I take all the pictures load them up etc, im just over it. today was particulary bad as I updated my log in the space wolves forum aswell. I might take a break, come back and look at the photos properly and jot down some notes about what I think can be done... straight away im thinking pack markings, also my lone wolf needs a banner or icon. would be cool to convert the mark of the wuflen from plastics... so once I do this vow, I will paint drop pods, and build more long fangs and yeah I cant think atm peace!
