It's easy to get all "me me me" when you start a thread here. I am like that as well, but since I havent had that much time to get stuff done, mostly working on the Campaign, I've had to fill my 40k-need with other peoples work. And now I'm stuck watching all the nice progress ppl make. =)

I like your cypher and chosen squad. How do you plan on using them? I was under the impression that you can only use the cypher+chosen thing in a CSM army, and Cypher by himself in most marine armies. Might be wrong tough. If I am wrong, I'll start building my chosen squads right away!

yeah you could well be right about that.

The whole thing seems overly complicated to me (this is 40k after all)

It would be really cool to have a Fallen army with Cypher. Seems silly to me that dark angels players cannot use him, I mean I know the fluff and all.

But now you would have to build a chaos space marine codex, from dark angel bits, painted as fallen, and include Cypher.

Or I guess you could play your dark angel army as codex space marines and include cypher that way....

or something...

I had the vets and nothing to do with them, so its working out ok so far...

I've got my bases covered with the chaos army i'm starting anyway.

I'm not sure what it is about Cypher, must be like with the 13th wulfen.

I must have spent way too many hours as a kid staring at the mini, day dreaming.... And now its all coming back to bite me!

I want to move straight ahead on them, but I'm not certain about which colours to paint them or who they will be fighting with.

So I will just have to be patient :(

Still cannot look at the chaos junk I bought, which brings me back to my space wolves.

hmm but i've run out of grey spray, that was the problem there... need money for food...

the only thing I can paint before pay day is my blood angels, I have everything I need for that....

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......................................

might just go and play some more games teehee.gif

Alrighty

Suffice to say I really let myself go over the holidays, and the quaility and calibre of my work suffered. As did you good people.

Now that the year is in full swing I'm getting back into the rythum of things and hopefully we will get the job done.

So. I've been playing alot of games, which means I've been spending a lot of time looking at my minis, from behind.

Now when I veiw them from the left rear, they look pretty cool, because I can see the great company markings on their shoulders pads.

But viewed from the right rear, they look pretty boring.

My Grey Hunters have fought in every battle I have waged so far, and I was growing very tired of looking at them.

Its time to make ammends

But first, a land raider, just because

gallery_70574_8889_1260336.jpg

Also I rebuilt my rune priest on bike into a wolf lord with frost blade on bike. With all the awesome bits available to Space Wolves I could build bike characters, wolf guard, priests, all day long! I think I will just use the one bike, and build as many body sub assemble variations as I can manage....

Fun times

gallery_70574_8889_1213723.jpg

I started on the pack markings

gallery_70574_8889_617700.jpg

I want the skinny triangles, I found its easier to shape the red with the black.... When I get a system down for it I will be sure to log it.

Just pushing paint around at the moment.

I like when one colour just stops, and the other starts, but it may be easier to separate the red from the black, with a thin line of orange or something....

Or maybe just highlight the red, and highlight the black....

I dont know at the moment. Advice?

One thing I do know is the more time I spend on them, the worse they look, the best ones are black, red triangles, black tidy up, thats it!

For that reason I just went army painter style.

gallery_70574_8889_1351945.jpg

Now the next squad I mimiced the style of the detailed SW shoulder pads. With the centre arrow being the largest, then 2 and 3 being beside it, abit smaller, and 4 and 5 run into the wall before forming a point. Makes sense to me and thats all that matters smile.png

gallery_70574_8889_1606663.jpg

gallery_70574_8889_803759.jpg

Still a work in progress as you can see.

gallery_70574_8889_1227089.jpg

Now the sky claws were so much easier. Just a red arrow from the top down, and two red arrows beside, from the bottom up.

There is something that bothers me about these ones, but I wont point it out until someone else does smile.png

gallery_70574_8889_1244741.jpg

And I built my 10 blood claws. In a space Wolves army, these guys are the lowest of the low, newbies, low ranks. So I just wanted them to be simple as, stock standard.

It became important that they were all running, to further seperate them from the Grey Hunters, and to show their youthful enthusiasim and blood lust.

Lately I have been debating wheather or not to equip my grey hunters with fancy weapons from the new space wolves sprue.... I may do it on a case by case base, to reward some heroic action.

I also want to add chainswords to the waist of those who are not weilding one, along with tropies from battles, so far I've killed traitor guard, Chaos space marine scum, tau, eldar, orks, just really want to play some tyranids....

So that will go a long way to jazzing up my army abit, I have intentionally left their waists and bases bare.

Lastly, I am moving house, in with some friends of mine. (hooray more money/ boo I have to share)

So that means I will have to pack up my beloved hobby room.

Normally I wouldn't be very excited about moving, but this place has a double garage, with, might I add, a proper work bench. woot.gif

And these two I'm moving in with, they dont like to get their hands dirty woot.gifwoot.gifwoot.gif

So yeah, 2-3 weeks and the workshop should be up and running.

greetings brothers! So I was attempting some green stuff cloaks again, and discovered using vasaline helps alot, however now paint wont stick to the cloaks! because of the vasaline! I have already tried sccrubbing them with soapy water... gah how on earth do they do it! so here are some of my first attempts, this was before i discovered what clay shapers are used for. I was pretty impressed with myself let me tell you. http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0131_zpsfbe519c6.jpg and from behind http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0132_zps45b40f48.jpg pretty cool eh? made with my bare hands! then I thought "hey you know what, my clay shapers might be good for this job and I produced this guy http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0133_zps783f145f.jpg something between the two versions would be nice. But its all for nothing if i cannot get the paint to stick! maybe a fresh chaos black undercoat? something I can clean it with? http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0134_zpsac70c2fa.jpghttp://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0135_zps567b66bb.jpg and my poor bikes, patiently waiting for me to get back to business...

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0136_zpsf61afb78.jpg

Also I finally painted my vindi. http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0138_zpsee3bf9c3.jpg nearly there but not quite. also, a wolf priest. http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0140_zps0e3da396.jpg and a blood angel? http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0155_zps0b2e9a74.jpg But everything is put on hold until I sort this vasaline probelm out. It sucks, I really like the cloaks and enjoy making them, but i need to be able to paint them. I do not want to cut these ones away. I want to make cloaks for the whole army, just the way i mad these ones, but i need to be able to paint them. something has to change.... but what? help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!

I feel you man, most (read, all) of my models are green-stuffed to some extent, and it was a pain in the rear trying to paint them. I give them a satin varnish coat first (or any other varnish for that matter, it's just that gloss irritates me), then I prime it and carry on as normal.

I've just read through the whole log today - been a boring lecture! I'm impressed with your Wolves I'll tell you that, and even better than that, something that I always like to see when I look through a log that has lasted a few months, is that you have improved a lot over the course of your log. So kudos for that!! 's all about breaking those plateaus!!

Keep up the good work msn-wink.gif

Cheers DS!

blissful brushes : wow thanks a bunch, I took your advice and the satin varnish worked a treat!

Its funny because I did try gloss varnish before I posted, but it wouldn't stick. Perhaps I thinned it down too much, horrible stuff that it is.

I'm sorry you had to read the whole log, I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.

I should have pushed on and completely completed the cloaks, however this minor success opened a flood gate I have been sitting on for awhile.

I may actually be able to make wolf cloaks for everybody, down to the lowest blood claw!

YES!!!!!!

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0156_zpsb79ae672.jpg

Another thing that has happened is that with the release of the new stern/van/guard and tactical kits, any future space marine army I build, will be built exclusively from these kits.

Which means that every little fancy scope or strap that I have been hanging onto, will now go to my Space Wolves. My Grey Hunters see the most action, and seeing as they carry all 3 off their standard issue weapons, the ground is ripe for some badass modelling opportunity. Also since the completion of their pack markings, they really do look the part and I have become enamored with them.

So a quick head count shows that I should be able to complete 6 Grey Hunter packs, 2 blood claws, my skyclaws, swiftclaws, 3 long fangs, and assorted elites, mainly 3 squads of TDAs.

Now I would like to make a small 13th company warband, but we'll get to that in time.

At this stage I would like to thank my sponsor Maelstrom Games, who at one time, made it possible to get gw plastic at almost decent prices (here in aus), without whom I should never have begun this quest in the first place.

So i'm pretty excited, all I may need is some assault marine legs. I've chopped up a few too many in my time.

With that in mind I had to make some tough hobby decisions this week.

Here are some photos of some stuff I have been working on, while everyone else was working on their shiny new Imperial Knights, I was in the shop painting my 20 plus year old sisters of battle (not exactly certain how old they are, but you get the point.)

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0151_zpsfdd8c23c.jpg

Not too shabby huh? I tried for black and it looked ok, but gold was much more fun!

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0149_zpsfc9d3c3a.jpg

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0150_zpsf70248ac.jpg

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0152_zps5f41c300.jpg

Had alot of fun painting these guys. absolutely no Idea what I am doing, but that is half the fun. Painting the (mind blank- insert word that is cooler than cloth) area was great, and a welcome break from power armor. Great practice for faces too, which is something I am working towards.

Originally I was having visions of a black and white sisters of battle army, with an Inquistor and retuine of stormtroopers, I have been on about this since forever, I think I inherited the witch hunters codex and associated White Dwarfs from Jacob back in the day. Needless to say I enjoyed the White Dwarfs more.

So I have been trying to paint black since before I began painting (not really). Nowadays I always have a shot at it after I undercoat a miniature. One thing I have learned is that painting black is tough.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0146_zpse02c3628.jpg

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0148_zps184b184d.jpg

So imagine my school girl hysteria when I saw the leaked pictures of plastic stormtroopers!

The sky is falling ladies and gentlemen, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that second coming of the messiah has happened.

But seriously, this is great news, I have been waiting for plastic stormtroopers since my Plastic Orlocks, who never quite looked as cool as my lead ones.

But times have changed!

I'm in a pretty good spot here where I feel like I could buy a box of stormtroopers, and paint them up (following the guide) no problem. Whenever I try to just come up with my own scheme however I usually fail.

But at any rate, I decided this week to re-commit my efforts to my Space Wolves legion. I am at the stage now where all my bits are available to me. I am going to take some inspiration from the heresy era armies (Forge World) and try to build an army that is compatable with both game systems (armour mark aside)

When building a squad, after keeping in mind things like action and flow and form, my favorite thing is to bits em out.

Now I can do this on an army wide scale

cue hysterical laughter

Cloaks for everyone!!!

All the cloaks in the UNIVERSE!!!!!!!!!!

Alrighty I have been building lots.

And lots.

I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who has contributed to the project thus far, I'm sorry if I may have overlooked some of your comments in my enthusiasm to update.

I think in future I will try to answer comments as they arrive or as time allows, with or without pictures. That way I can be a better host and manage the log more frequently.

I value any constructive or humourous comments, its just I am a forgettful and excitable fella sometimes.

Ok ok so the ETL has been annoucned so lucky for me as I have been building like a madman. Lucky for you I stopped to take photos.

Now the title of the log is Jims Space Wolves Work In Progress. So everything is in a disasterous state of disrepair, I hope you guys like grey plastic.

Its getting hard to manage so much but the log has been really helpful in that way helping me to focus on whats important.

This is where you come in helping me decide whats cool and whats not.

So I have been merrily snapping Pictures

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0157_zpsaa30df6e.jpg

The work station.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0178_zpsd379bfbd.jpg

The rack of glory. Ever since I moved the Rack up onto the bench there (where I can reach it without getting up) building has become much faster

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0164_zpsbe137587.jpg

The mustering.

I had some success with Green Stuff molds.

Here be Grey Hunters

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0290_zps41562387.jpg

WIP GreyHunters. Really excited about this lot, I'll Show them properly once I have them finished. Just needed a shot for the head count.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0213_zpsde72986e.jpg

Bikes are getting there, still need backpacks highlight and battle damage, plus I want to bits em out some more.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0212_zps53fa9707.jpg

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0215_zps74d9afc3.jpg

I want to try and take my time with this, and do the best job I can.

From lowest to highest, some recently realised Space Wolves

Blood Claws

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0289_zps01485973.jpg

Had a gap in the army so I filled it. Was a really fun squad to build, came togeter in a snap. low rans you know, background brothers, the true heroes of any army.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0291_zps4b7769b9.jpg

These 5 make 15 with the last squad (the running legs ones) I really like this lot. these guys are the show offs and the glory hogs. Most of them should have been promoted a long time ago, but they enjoy being up the front and dont respond well to authority. They need trophies is what Im thinking.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0292_zps4999d7f2.jpg

Cautioned for excessive use of force.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0294_zps85da8cde.jpg

This warrior shows promise as a swordsman but he lacks any real disipline in battle. He is often want to go chasing after a retreating enemy, exposing himself and risking the pack.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0295_zpsad681288.jpg

This guy is a Badass. He only hangs out with the other two because they are always where the action is at.

GreyHunters

Getting into Spam lately. These two are arguing about whos turn it is to go first.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0303_zps807fd61b.jpg

Im thinking one with knife one with grenade. or maybe two knives? held wich way?

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0300_zpsb0b13dcf.jpg

More grey hunters. these are all the fellas who were'nt cool enough to make it the first time around in their orignal packs, a pack of true rejects smile.png

Alright enough for now, I will update again soon.

Whats that? you what some teasers? well ok.

@deathspectersgt7

Dont tempt me mate I need the sleep! Your 500 would make good practice for my technique yes.gif

I'm pretty happy with the style, its quick and easy, though I am beginning to think I fluked them. I seem to do all my best work between the hrs of 2am ad 5am, and I dont often get a chance to stay up that late.

I still only get it right half the time, alot of green stuff ends up in the bin.

Maybe we could start with 10. You provide the postage and the greenstuff and the job is done my friend, because I like the way you put marines together.

But no promises they wont turn out :cuss! Just pm me.

thanks DS but that was just the entree.

I now invite everyone to grab their favourite beverage, light a cigar, a packet of chips, or however you prefer, because the show is about to begin.

still only available in high definition grey plastic (going to need some support to get this lot in colour)

now where were we

Ahh yes Grey Hunters, after 3 or 4 squads it gets kinda dull. I realy like the idea of recon squads. and using a wolf guard with saga of the hunter to grant the squad outflank. I like the idea of a 6 man greyhunter squad in a razorback, objective capturing.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0254_zps42651a1b.jpg

Still waitning on some new space wolves shoulder pads for them. but pretty happy otherwise

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0255_zps4c049e8c.jpg

Obeviously they will get cloaks.

Finally discovered the perfect spot to put those knives! saw it here on the boards and went running back to my work desk.

As we progress through the log, I will be sure to point out any conversions I feel I came up with on my own. Not many so far, just a heathly amount of inspiration.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0256_zpscec8e825.jpg

this guys is awesome, no doubt about it. Love that sniper saw. It will become more and more obvious that I really like Night Lords.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0257_zpsa15d2a08.jpg

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0258_zps07d7c9fb.jpg

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0259_zps719c934c.jpg

OK so thats the last of the tropps for awhile thank the Lord. Lets move on.

So there I was going through every bits box in the workshop when I discovered I had two cruddy bikes. One of them was the original one I accidently snapped the handle bars off. which lead me to saw off and reattach the front section, which lead me to use the stormsheild to hide the mess I had made. Which I decided looked pretty cool in the end and I went ahead and converted all of my bikes in this way.

All because I broke the handles bars by mistake.

So this bike deserves to be honoured. but before that -

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0218_zps5309f40b.jpg

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0217_zps2292a7ea.jpg

Woohoo! such a simple conversion, not finished yet obviously. The thunder wolves rider legs made a good fit (didn't have any regular bike legs left, was forced to challenge myself!)

And really happy with how well the character fit. Hmm i'm sure that this guy has a name but I cannot think of it.

I'm tempted to remove the axe head and give him a crosius arcarum and make him a wolf preist.

Anyway I'm pretty keen to give this a shot for Ulric the slayer and the Rune Priest character awell, because Ive always wanted them in the army, but you know, doing something a little more than just standing there pointing.

I have abit of a thing against space wolves telling others space wolves what to do (ie gesturing with their sword)

It just doesnt happen, I've worked hard to avoid it but it does slip through.

At any rate space wolves lead by example, just look at Logan Grimnar, he is a terminator, in a tradition assault marine pose, his axe fully swung, by the time you look at the miniature you are already dead.

gallery_70574_8889_1124656.jpg

Space Wolves know what needs doing, and are busy doing it, they do quarrel amougst themselves (mainly out of boredom) but there is never a need to give instructions, They are Legion, The great pack.

Getting back to bikes

I think it would be crossing the line to attempt this on the Games Days Wolf Priest, he is just too nice, plus Limited edition OOP Only avaiable in lead.

So instead I want to buy Ragnar and chop him up and attempt to make him look boss.

Now here is the original bike. The Guy riding it is me! the Wolf Lord. Really like the character and he marks a step away from the space wolves heads and towards a more traditional space marine look. He is a beast no?

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0222_zpsd59ddb21.jpg

He is basically a Wolf Lord on Wolf Bike with power fist and lighting claw. the wrist mounted scout pistol is there to represent the bike bolter that I removed.

Might just keep the power fist for show, and use the storm sheild and claw. Also built him a boss level gun. Lots to say about this chap, but we'll get there.

Got the walking space wolf legs on there ok but had to chop the feet out so will need some green stuff work... Kinda excited about it actaully.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0221_zpsddd29467.jpg

tried really hard to make a green stuff banner, l learnt alot but its going to take some practice to get it to look how l want.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0223_zps9d8cf7bb.jpg

I want to get the banner hanging from the pole to the left, caught in the breeze, and a wolf cloak from his back flowing to the right to create a crossover effect.

I think I am going to have to hang the mininture somehow once i have applied the banner, and let gravity do its thing while it dries.

Its tricky.

Once more for the cheaps seats

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0222_zpsd59ddb21.jpg

here is a better shot of the Wolf Saw. Or wolf shark, I cannot decide.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0225_zps0dcd4183.jpg

It came about from reading alot of Dans Night Lords and thinking about combi plasmas, playing alot of tetris and looking at the space wolves sprue. I just knew it would work. Just a matter of building a badass capable of weilding it.

Now the Wrist scout pistol is one I feel I thunk up on my own. I originally was building a Raven Guard Assualt Squad, Which used them and GreyKnights Power Swords (no Chainswords) For a silent assualt type deal. but yeah now its the Wolf Lords.

I think Most people forget that Space wolves are still Space Marines and just get carried away giving them axes and sheilds herrderr.

OK so then we move on to the Wolf Guard. I had an assault tda and tda sqaud that I wanted to bring up to speed.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0228_zps3a63ae24.jpg

Also built my wolf guard back into regonizable squads.

So this image I could talk about all day. Lets say the front right hand corner (my Wolf Lord) is #1 to his right is #2 and so on.

In that way they also form squads, 1, 2, 3 ,4 ,5. Each squad has one of each pair of legs. One hero, one special weapon etc.

But when I play games I just grab the best 5

which is #1, #2, #3, #6, #7

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0236_zps54ed6cb8.jpg

So I tried to built the new guys in a similar fashion. So if I take them as a wolfwing they all form into legal squads, but for everyday games, I just cherry pick my favourites.

thanks again deathspectre, yeah im pretty chuffed.

yeah man just pm me, it would be an honour. Are they for your deathspecters?

ok so on with the show, while I have the time, I'm aiming to get this lot all painted by the end of the year (in time for heresy era wolves)

The only other thing going on in my life right now is that i am training for my black belt in tradition Japanese martials arts (which is a big deal)

Think judo, kendo, jujutsu all rolled into one elegant system of self defence, or martial art. with a heathly dose of zen.

So just wanted to meation that as it is the basis for why I make certain decisions here and there in the army.

So other that, the basic plan is (now that I'm single again)

work, eat, train, eat, paint, sleep, repeat.

For the next 2-3 years.

I am brown belt atm and have been training at the dojo since I was 18, but life tends to get in the way of the things we want to do.

Now my time has come.

Alrighty so more photos of the army and what has been done and what still needs to be done.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0242_zpsb3caafc6.jpg

I have two more rhinos to build to make compatable with the razorback turrets as the need arises, plus I need to pick up one more drop pod.

I would like more speeders, but i would rather salvage them from ebay, and I'm not certain my skills are up to it yet.

Would be nice to have three vindis also, but it all just gets too expensive really.

I want to grab the land raider conversion kit to have spare sponsons and lasguns to make the redemmer more practical/versatile.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0243_zpsd8321a4f.jpg

Here my vindi in the sunlight, still not finished , but about the same as everything else.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0244_zpsc2965865.jpg

And finally the glory. Not as amazing as some things you see around here (darkmechanicanuscough cough) but still pretty special I think.

Everybody loves dreadnoughts. except for their stubby legs, and the unreality of them being able to walk at all.

Stare at one for too long and you may start having visions of a toddler shambling towards you then tripping and turtling on its back.

Not exactly badass right?

So I always knew is could be done, not once, but twice! And it only took 25 pins! may  have got ott.

Really happy they can stand up on their own, (my little boys!) lol

I was using a piece of sprue to prop them up while I drowned the jionts in superglue.

I will probably basecoat them before finishing any details, as it really helps my to see whats what, and what needs doing.

Woohoo! Now the challenge will be to build one in a traditional assault marine pose, runnings legs, probably the Iron clad with sizmic hammer.

(you know what I mean!)

and lastly a teaser

ok time for desert!

Everybody remember these chaps?

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0260_zpsa8053d3d.jpg

Well I have built them some friends

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0261_zpsd8dc5ec4.jpg

you guys are going to have to play along here abit, and imagine they all have awesome flowing cloaks hanging from their shoulders and caught in the breeze

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0264_zpsced85406.jpg

Pretty happy with this wolf prist. I was so excited I sacrificed metal Ulrics crozius to the cause. Will probably regret that one day.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0266_zps35364d05.jpg

Thinking of converting this guy over to a rune priest to go with the last two. Then I will have triplets, plus I dont have One who is duel weilding yet.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0269_zpsc5974fcf.jpg

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0269_zpsc5974fcf.jpg

If only there were a good source of open right hands. Lately i've just been saying stuff it, and using a left hand with the thumb removed. When you have 100+ marines, the ood missing thumb isnt such a concern. One day I will scuplt them, no drama.

So here is my custom Ragnar Blackmane. I can see myself making lots of him. Ragnar is the epitome of the swordsman.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0271_zps3d074b37.jpg

With sheild.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0272_zpsaba41b65.jpg

Sheild on hip. Channeling abit of Luke Skywalker there with the Bionic arm.

On hip?

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0267_zpsce6f3666.jpg

Here is another mean mutha tuffa.

http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y400/jimbo196/IMG_0268_zps9550af5b.jpg

And then we have Logan Grimnar, The Early Years, before the mostache. Just thought it would be cool to have a power armoured version of the big guy. After all I have used his sigil (before he became the great wolf. So he is A really Beasty character and i'm way proud of him. I want his pose to suggest That his Is drawing his Axe from within his cloak (yet to be realised) kinds saying ''If I have to come over there you will be very sorry. I'm getting my Axe out!"

Great army man, don't know how I've missed this before. I'm just starting my Wolves project and this log is a great source of inspiration. You've definitely convinced me to go with bronze rather than gold for the armour trim.

Plus that tutorial for the chaos warrior cloaks is a lifesaver. I've got a whole bunch of bits left from a warriors kit I was painting up and have been struggling to find a way to integrate them into a Marine. They always seem a little too large for the marine torso and legs, but I'll try and give your technique a go and see how it works out.

Sorry mate didn't realise there was a reply!

Cheers for that I'm glad people like my Wolves.

Tell me about it man I bought 4 of the warrior boxes, and as you can see none of the bits made passed the pre build.

If you give a bloke an axe instead of a chainsaw, the best thing you can do is give him a plasma gun to put him firmly back in the 41st millennium.

I think is ok for chaos space marines to be running about with blunt axes and bear arms, cause let's face it, they're broke!

But space wolves are the elite of the imperium!

It will be very interesting to see what forge world come up with.

Anyway getting back to the cloaks.

Not sure what I put in the last tut so here a some fresh notes.

It's much easier to make cloaks like on this page than the warriors conversion.

Just roll a ball of gs flat with some Vaseline. Lay it over your marine, use knife, scissors, toothpicks to make it look cool.

But if you insist with the warriors conversion.

Build everything with blu tac first. Cut everything to size.

Roll a ball of gs and use it to affix torso to cloak and to legs.

Keep other marines around for reference, and focus on getting posture and depth correct.

Let cure for 15mins. Roll balls of green stuff and use to affix shoulder pads and arms

Arms may need pinning.

They do look catching painted up. I hope my gs cloaks will paint up as nicely.

Hmm I actually came to say I was taking a break from my space wolves, i seem to have lost my hobby mojo lately....

Internet at home has gone to :cuss, will post up some thoughts once I get it sorted.
