Iron Hands: Chapter Master

FYI, here is how I plan to run him in games.

Chapter Master: 255pts

Artificer Armour, Shield Eternal, Thunder Hammer, Auspex

Space Marine Bike

Now, if I want to give him a better shooting weapon than the TL Bolters that come on
the bike, I have to exchange the Shield Eternal for a Storm Shield. Then I
could take a combi weapon or the Primarch's Wrath. However, as I see his role
as an assault specialist, shooting is really secondary for him. That's why I
gave him an Auspex. So he can support the Bike Squad I plan on running him
with. With 2 grav guns and a combi-grav on the bikes, being able to nerf the
target's cover saves is very useful. And the one turn of shooting I might do
with him will probably be dropping the Orbital Strike.

So whatever the bolter ends up looking like, its not going to get a lot of use in
game.

Right now I'm working on the mechanicum array for his back. Something reminiscent of
the Ferrus Mannus mini from FW; a nice cluster of servo arms, mechadendrites
and that damn TL Bolter.

Once that is sorted out, He’ll be ready for the primer
and painting.

Before seeing this thread I had made the decision to convert myself some centurions with hammers to represent btoh the shooty and assault variants (would shoulder mount a grav cannon on each), Im glad to see someone else has had the same idea!

Can I ask why you couldn't work the original hands? I haven't laid hands on the sprues yet, my telly-tubbies are on order...

I was planning on using some straight plastic rod for a hammer shaft and bending/coring out the fists to slide the handle through both hands, might have one hammer shouldered like the old commander of the fleet mini with the pointing hand or swinging with one arm Grimnar style maybe

P.S. I have a few conversions with little servo arms for their 2ndary weapons and I think it looks epic, My calgar proxy has 2 thunder hammers and a storm bolter just like yours on a servo arm coming over one shoulder and it does really work well if it is balance out, on my terminator mini the servo arm is a lot tighter to the back of the model so it looks a little less like a giant spider.

I like the idea just one question?

What does he do when he reaches a flight if stairs biggrin.png

Has he got 4WD with that thing?

What do you think the Orbital Bombardment's for? If you can't come to the heretics... :p

So, apparently I'm really bad at updating progress.

Anyway he's about 90% done. Some additional small detailing, a few decals and weathering are in his immediate future and then he'll be ready to lead my Clan Vurgaan force.

Here I've put on the "optional" Mechadendrites taken from Fabius Bile and slightly converted. These sort of mimic the ones on the back of the Forgeworld Ferrus Mannus model.

The project as it exists right now. I realized after I painted it that I forgot to give him "iron hands" so that's something I'll have to rectify when I get back to work on him.

A final close-up.

Comments, suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
