I am Legion
Way back in the day I began a Salamanders army, as they are my second favorite army next to Blood Angels. However due to a GW painting contest I couldn't attend, I had my friend go in my place, and when all was said and done, they told my friend to take the models back in a plastic bag, and he forgot about them in his trunk, so they got horribly ruined........Keep in mind that my Salamanders were on display at the store for a couple months prior. I don't know why they couldn't just stick them back into the display.... AAAAAAAAANNNYYYYWWWWAAAYYYYYYY So 5 years later, I really want to restart the army. Hopefully I can do an even better job on the painting as well I plan to make it super fluffy, but playable, so magnetizing everything obviously. I just ordered Vulkan He'stan, and I got the new tactical squad, along with the new sternguard. TIME TO KITBASH!!!!! RRAAWWWRRRR I will post a few pics sometime tomorrow morning of the 5 Tactical dudes I got started. Now, I ask my fellow Brothers to give me any ideas on campaign markings and such. Oh yeah, by the way, this is going to be a campaigning force, so lots of gear, dusty armour, and ripped dirty cloaks! Also, what sort of bases should I do? I was thinking of a nice white sandy beach with jet black rocks with bright green foliage Or a nice tundra sort of look. I did the lava thing last time, and don't really want to do that again, but I am open to any suggestions!! I was also considering doing the second company, as it looks nicest. These are my old Salamanders from 5 years back: Well, let me know, and hopefully this long weekend I can get started and hopefully finished the armour at the very least. I am Legion
ok so this is my first 5 Tactical Marines. Only 2 special weapons (Melta and flamer), and sergeant has a bolter, Combi-Melta, Combi-Flamer, Bolt pistol, Power Sword, and Power Fist. No need for a lightning claw since any close combat weapon becomes master crafted! :D The next 5 Tactical marines will have the cloaks. Not all, but like 3 or 4 will. skawolf
I would say that it is more need for a lightning claw as you are now re-rolling 1 failed to hit and all fails to wound they become way more effective than a powersword... especially if you're giving your sgt. a combi-weapon of sorts :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281688-i-am-legions-salamanders-mkii/#findComment-3491612 Share on other sites
I am Legion
Oh right.....duh.... Too bad the new left handed claws aren't in a nice pose for what I need :/ I'll have to figure something out...or just make it ugly lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281688-i-am-legions-salamanders-mkii/#findComment-3491981 Share on other sites
skawolf
Yeah I used a space wolf right hand lightning claw on a Sgt. for a tac squad I have been working on and it looks pretty good.....Man I gotta find my camera and get my Salamanders successors (The Inheritors) on here :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281688-i-am-legions-salamanders-mkii/#findComment-3491994 Share on other sites

skawolf
They look to be well executed greenstuff cloaks to me. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281688-i-am-legions-salamanders-mkii/#findComment-3492279 Share on other sites
I am Legion
Actually, they are green stuff. But it was really easy to make. Go buy a small almost toy like rolling pin (I found one in a kitchen supplies store). Then place big ball of green stuff between 2 pieces of wax paper and then roll it flat with the pin. When its 2 mm thick, cut out a square and you got a plain cloak. After that you can add scrunched up rolls and so forth with tiny strips. Man I can't wait to get started on the cloaked guys :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281688-i-am-legions-salamanders-mkii/#findComment-3492537 Share on other sites
