Stickeh
Good evening ladies and gentlemen of the B+C, I figured I couldn't be the only one who thinks that the current GW model for Chief Librarian Tigurius is a little...dated. What with him being one of the new powerhouses of the codex, I thought I'd put together a quick little guide to converting a replacement, but also feel free to post your own interpretations of Tiggy. My conversion has used parts from: New Sternguard kit Finecast terminator librarian Grey Knight Terminators A generic SM head Shoulder pad from the SM captain box So to start: http://imageshack.us/a/img62/5452/q7qc.jpg This is what I started with, the new plastic librarian kit and an assortment of bitz, some of which I changed later. http://imageshack.us/a/img843/3381/vtzo.jpg After removing the mold lines (mostly) and gluing the two parts of the body together, I cut off the libby's left shoulder pad. This doesnt have to be too neat, as the shoulder pad and backpack will cover most of this. Tidy up with a file or a touch of greenstuff if you want. http://imageshack.us/a/img33/2069/o60.JPG The arm here is from the Sternguard kit, the hand from the finecast terminator librarian (although there are loads of hands you could use here from the sternguard box alone), and the pad is from the SM captain box. I wanted some Ultramarine specific iconography on the model, alternatives could be the finecast pads GW makes, greenstuff, FW's etched brass or a simple transfer sheet. The idea here was to make it look like he's casting a power of some description. http://imageshack.us/a/img818/7427/wopi.jpg The shaft of the staff is from the GK terminator box, and the head is from the sternguard box (one of the backpack icons). I cut off the top of the normal GK staff as it looked a bit plain, and I wanted some gold on the model when it comes to painting. The two fit together very well, no need for extra work. http://imageshack.us/a/img703/2842/m7i9.jpg With the staff glued together, I used one of the extra arms and a pad from the sternguard box (can't recommend this kit enough, worth it just for the bitz) to give him a braced pose. I'd also decided to use the stock base that comes with the libby instead of making a scenic one, primarily out of laziness, but it wouldnt take much work to give him a pose that looks like hes stepping over enemy dead. And yes I know that this pad should have the librarium icon on it, but I couldn't find any suitably elaborate pads that I liked. http://imageshack.us/a/img855/5572/5zqf.jpg In another bout of laziness (and lack of bitz) I decided to use the stock libby backpack, as it actually looks pretty good and I refuse to put banner backpacks on any of my HQ's. http://imageshack.us/a/img844/1251/fifm.jpg Pretty much done before painting, the head is still subject to change (not glued down yet) and I'm looking for suitable alternatives, pretty sure Tiggy isn't ever described as having a bionic eye. I'll update in due course when I get round to painting, or with any changes I decide to make. Edit: looks like my links have decided not to work, new links coming shortly. Edit 2: link should be working now Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281776-attempting-to-build-a-better-tigurius/ Share on other sites

The_Chaplain
Pretty good conversion so far, but in my humble opinion, I think the model would look better if the staff icon was switched around so we could see the detail, and also the "hood of hellfire" seems a bit plain so far. GrandMagnus
Really nice, the only thing I would change would be turning the eagle on the staff a 180º, it looks better if its front points the same way as the front of the mini.
