The latest 5 marines are looking pretty good Jasp.  I like the use of plastic and resin parts on the 2 marines on the right hand side of the pic in particular. That bare head and the MK V helm are two of my favorite sculpts.  Would it be possible to lower the MK V helmeted marines chainsword arm so that the blade is parallel to the ground?  I would like to see how his pose looks altered a little before you start painting.

Yeah, I liked the look of those guys. The second one from the right in particular. The figure kinda spoke to me, and made me wonder about Death Guard who tried to resist the urge of Nurgle.

I tried to pose him doing a battle signal for the squad i will eventually build around him, I feel though that the 2 I'm not sure on are going to be disassembled as I just don't like they're feel.

 

The proto plague marines are slowly coming along, just need a FW order with more flamers

So....

I've been thinking on the fluff.

 

 

I need the XVIIth co. to be more then just an army, now I've been looking into the RAAOC (royal Australian army ordinance corp) where both my parents first started.

 

Now I don't want just artillery or anything like that so I was thinking of using a lot of recon & fast attack choices for reconnaissance. Then bringing a siege breaker & master if signal so I can smash and burn the trenches and fortifications of terra.

 

Now I need thoughts, I'm looking at a mechanized force, 20 man tacs in Spartans heavy & tac support in rhinos with jet bikes Land speeders and storm eagles/fire raptors for support whilst I have malcadors, medusas & basilisks in the rear dishing out a lot of firepower.

 

Then for mid range have the vindicators, whirlwinds, venerators and Glaives bringing cover fire.

 

Now to ensure that a death guard ordnance corp could work I thought about weapon loadouts.

 

If I had say 3 siciran venerators for super heavy hunting, typhons & Cerberus laser destroyers would that work well with an auxiliary force of assualt troops, land speeders and jetbikes taking the forward ground positions?

 

All my military buff friends please give me any and all experience you have when it comes to ordinance

Really like the idea of using recon teams to find targets for the heavy ordinance but with regards to info. about ordinance my knowledge falls short unless you want to know about ordinance in ancient history, in which case I can help brother.

Top work Jasp, I really like the grimy look you're getting. Only point I'd make is that the Imperialis (winged skull on the left-most guy's shoulderpad) was a loyalist symbol, so you might want to swap that bit out.

Doesn't mean I didn't rip it out of a dead loyalists armour whilst needing to repair my boys during The siege of Terra.

Didn't you know that soccer was re-invented by the traitor forces on terra? They played with loyalist heads. Usually, the Sons of Horus won, mostly because they made the rules. The Death Guard were to slow, and the Night Lords just cheated with brining in extra balls/heads whenever they needed. They always kept extras in the belts anyway.

Plainly speaking, it looks like a conversion nightmare. The shoulder pads are attached to the torso yes?

 

If there's any way to replace those with Mk. III pads, I would. Also, try hacking off the lower leg greaves and replacing them with a Mk. III version if you're open to it. That'll vastly improve the Space Marine vibe. 

 

That's a wicked glaive. I love that thing.
