Kurze has interested me for some time and i will be sure to check those books out. On the subject of Sanguinius If you read fear to tread he is totally in command at all times, yes he may not be the best strategist or swordsman but he has certain qualities that others lack. He is a leader of men fist and foremost he leads from the front engaging the enemy rather than from a rear command. He inspires those around him. Sanguinius also has wisdom that is lacking in other primarchs he is always calm cool and collected because he makes wise decisions and doesnt hasily run into any situation. His troops loyalty is unwavering even going as far as defying the council of nikea o help sanguinus. Yes they defied the emperors command but their loyalty is a reflection of whom they serve. The blood angels are loyal to sanguinus just as he is loyal to the emperor. In fear to tread we also see his bad to the bone side as he confronts Ka'bandha.

Yeah. Put 'Horus' each time you write Sanguinius and 'Sons of Horus' instead of Blood Angels, and most of it is still true.

Horus is, by far, the greatest leader of men of all the Primarchs, that's why he was n°1, and it is also the reason why daddy chose him to took his place for the rest of the Great Crusade. And if you take a close look at the Sons of Horus, their rise and their demise, you'll quickly get that Horus goes even beyond inspiring his men.

And Ka'bandha ? Really ? I mean, Horus wrecked the emperor so bad he has been eating psyker soup for the last 10k years.

I could see Sanguinius getting out of the mass of his brothers as the mutant that is so full of grace it's disturbing. He's probably as great as his brothers, but that is most likely what makes him Sanguinius.

About that Ka'Bhanda comment...

This is the second time I've gone, shall we call it "Blood Templar" for reasons you shall see, in a week so I apologise to all Fabius Bile clones and Khornate daemons for mentioning the name of the one who PWNED you, but the first time Ka'Bhanda snapped Sanguinius' legs, and even crippled Sanguinius was still screaming death threats and fighting. He only passed out because of the psychic back-lash of Ka'Bhanda killing close to a codex chapter's worth of his sons, and then on Terra the Bloodletter got curb stomped by Sanguinius, who the proceeds to hold the Eternity gate against no less than eight Legions BY HIMSELF, and then managed to put a dibilating wound in the anti-emperor.

And Horus only pwned Space Jesus because all the gods funelled all their power into him.

So yeah. Sanguinius rocks.

Seven Legions, unknown amount of elements from at least the Night Lords, Traitor Titans, Skitarii, Mechanicum, Cultists and Army units. By himself.

 

No wonder people thought a daemon primarch would be needed. Although that says something about Horus.

 

Although I'm curious how much of that is embellishment since the IA are written by the Imperium looking back ten thousand years ago with incomplete records, similar to what the Forgeworld books are doing.

History is written by the victors, so they say. I'm sure the truth is somewhat less outrageous but still impressive: maybe Sangy had a few chapters of battle-brothers with him to hold off those seven legions. wink.png

I suppose that the only way to know for sure is to wait for it to be written!

And the first Lorgar fought An'ggrath the Unbound, the biggest and baddest of all Khorne's Greater Daemons, he kicked the snot out of it and left with his legs and gene sons intact.

Yes, bKa'Bhanda is meant to be thr greatest Bloodthirster of all time, and Sanguinius defeated him. And when he held the Eternity Gate, I severely doubt it wasn't eight legions lined up single file with legionaries only each waiting to have a fair turn of fisticuffs with Sanguinius. It was him, vs well over 100 000 traitors, Not counting the titans, traitor Army regiments and daemons.

And so far, no primarch ever has lost a fight to Lorgar :P

Not saying Lorgar sucks though, he's on my top five badasses list

Oh, please. Everyone knows the real reason Horus fought Sanguinus and the Emperor was

because they were between him and his escape from the wrath of Rogal Dorn.

Remember, while Sanguinus was fighting a hundred thousand guys and their Titans at Eternity Gate, Jeff was singlehandedly defending the Petitioner's Quarter against the other 700, 000 traitors, Perturabo, Curze, Mortarion and Lorgar plus Conqueror, Blessed Lady, and Trisaigon, without power armor and while suffering a hangover.

In-narrative wise, I don't think its right assuming "facing 8 Legions and their various levies" means Sanguinius was actually arrayed against 8 legions and their levies. Rather, I think that it's not as much embellishment for posterity as it is a case of on the outside of the gate all who were accounted for was Sanguinius and our 8 legions spread across 20km, with our boy most likely battling it out in some narrow approach to the gate that would make the 300 jealous. Dat glory. While golden boy Dornie...

 

On that point, there better be no less than 1,000 pages worth of short stories covering all the personal last stands at the end of it all, and I'm looking for Army regulars as much as line Astartes. "Alone and unremembered" and all that.

Every thousand years or so Erebus and Kor Phaeron try to talk him out, reminding him that he's an immortal daemon prince now and Jeff is long dead, but he merely hisses "Be quiet! He'll hear you!" from his hiding spot under the couch.

Jeff is held in stasis next to the emperor so if anyone ever threatens the emperor he reanimates with his all mighty hangover!

 

When the sisters first met the emperor Jeff was released and said "your :cussing apostles a knob ill bitch slap some sense into you all now everyone stop screaming!"

 

Even the custodes fear the wrath of jeff
