Inquisitor Fox
We could always call the Guardsmen Fraternis Militia and paint them in more of an Ecclesiarchy theme.... ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283233-escalation-expansion-what-will-this-mean-for-the-sisters/page/2/#findComment-3541009 Share on other sites
tvih
Sisters of battle get absolutely nothing despite GW advertising it as having Lord of War options for all armies.Yeah. And like I guessed beforehand, the LoW unit has to be from primary detachment. My marines aren't exactly well off either, what with Thunderhawk being too expensive both in points as well as £$€. *Furyou Miko
Well, at least we can take solace in the fact that Dark Eldar aren't included in "all armies" either, so it's not a sign that we aren't a real army. jacqualine47
Dark Eldar get the revenant titan just like eldar; and ia2 2nd edition gives fellblades to SM as a lord of war option. WarriorFish
I did wonder how they'd resolve SoB and DE in the "all armies" statement. On reflection it was rather silly to have expected GW's interpretation of "all armies" to match the rest of the planet's. *Furyou Miko
I highly doubt that. Dark Eldar don't have an Infinity Circuit, so they can't pilot a Revenant. AdmLancel
A disappointment? Sadly I can't even say it is. This was as expected. I would have actually been impressed if the Sisters were given consideration in the expansion at al, even after the "All Armies" line. I simply had doubts. The only real disappointment is that it was so easy, so simple for them to impress me, but alas, it was another missed opportunity. It continues to reinforce my belief that the Sisters exist at a bare minimum support level, kept around largely because it costs them very little to keep them around. Some may still have hope of a massive update at some point, like this codex might be a stopgap, and the lack of a new unit is because they may be waiting for the real update, but after many years of such rumors being met only with White Dwarf and digital codexes, I have just accepted that this is the level they are willing to support the army to. It may seem bitter, but on the bright side I have gotten over that, too. To me, this is where the Sisterhood is, and I am content with that, and anything extra is a boon. Side note, if DE did get excluded as well it does seem very, very odd. We haven't heard any rumors of them getting an update either. tvih
And if only FW still wasn't being met with a high degree of resistance. Though then again, the Escalation expansion itself is being met with a high degree of resistance, and I can't say I really disagree with that. It's a poorly thought-out supplement at best. SinnerBeta
Technically you can only choose the options listed in the expansion so even if you get something new from IA you won't be able to field it, at least legally. So 'only' Thunderhawks for SMs. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283233-escalation-expansion-what-will-this-mean-for-the-sisters/page/2/#findComment-3542006 Share on other sites

So 'only' Thunderhawks for SMs. I wouldn't think so, seeing as how they are releasing one-off dataslates through digital release, it seems really easy for them to make new LOW choices if they were so inclined, and to make them "legal". Just remember last week, there was no such thing as a "formation" that could be allied or included in an army, and now there is, and it only took a single digital release for 3.99 USD for it to happen. So 'only' Thunderhawks for SMs. Escalation changed the rules for Revenant to allow DE to take them (they're Eldar only in the Apoc rulebook), so there's no actual reason that they can't give a Thunderhawk or Baneblades to the sisters. Denison512
Sisters now have access to LoW thanks to FW! http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/L/lordsofwar.pdf We get access to both Marauder variants and Reaver and warhound titans. Warsmith Aznable
Sisters with a Warhound... oh my. Sure, it's a lot of money, but you can use it for multiple armies. Yeah, that's what I'll tell myself... I dunno, I think a Maurader Destroyer is probably better coverage for our AA deficientcy. Perhaps it's a response to step six where we asked GW to remove the holes in our list. jacqualine47
I own both a Marauder Destroyer and several titans. I don't personally feel that either fit the flavour of Sisters and won't be running them in my army - but if one truly feels the need to have a superheavy within the confines of the rules, then I would recommend a Warhound Titan with an Inferno Cannon and Vulcan Megabolter in order to stay within the stictures of the Holy Trinity. Also, I don't think we have an Anti-Air deficiency... my Avengers make short work of most enemy aircraft (Eldar Nightwings always creme me though), and for the others (Ahem, the aforementioned nightwings) I find that Melta-gun / combi-melta Dominions using their ignore cover act of faith can prove a nasty surprise - although your mileage may vary depending on how much the dice gods like you of course. Warsmith Aznable
I may just get some Imperial building terrain kits and make a walking cathedral and call it a counts-as Warhound. The Marauder would be an easier conversion using a model WWII bomber as a base, just not nearly as fun to make.
