Corpus Brethren

Emperor's Furor

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of putting a colour scheme and a symbol to the Corpus Brethren, a chapter of marines that suffered due to the Abyssal crusade. I was just wondering though, what do you think the term Corpus is in reference to, I did a search for the term and came up with the following.

1. A large collection of writings of a specific kind or on a specific subject.

2. A collection of writings or recorded remarks used for linguistic analysis.

3. Economics
a. The capital or principal amount, as of an estate or trust.
b. The principal of a bond.

4. Anatomy
a. The main part of a bodily structure or organ.
b. A distinct bodily mass or organ having a specific function.

5. Music The overall length of a violin.

Now I think it's obviously between 4 and 5, I'm leaning more towards 4b though due to Slaanesh's unsavoury nature. What do you think?

Hi, I don't know if this helps but for the last call of chaos (IV or V can't remember) I created an army of Corpus Brethren for my pledge. Like you I used the idea of a bodily mass to represent them. As they were 'eaten' by a planet in their fluff I chose to represent this by giving them a thick gloss coat that made them appear slimy and as if they had fallen out of a digestic tract.

I'm not sure if this helps you in any way but I guess its food for thought :)

Bores.

According to Wiktionary, corpus is a Latin word originally meaning "body", and the primary definition listed is:

  1. the body
  2. (linguistics) a collection of writings, often on a specific topic, of a specific genre, from a specific demographic, a single author etc.

Not really seeing what's so Slanneshi about that, unless your Marines are the Book Club of the Damned and spend all their time hunting for next month's reading material.
