Dark Angel DV set

Hello all,

I am a long time stalker of Bolter and Chainsword, and a long time follower of 40K. I've had quite a few attempts at making an army over the years, but never succeeded to get past the blu tac stage!

I purchased the DV box some time ago along with a tac squad and the Dark Angels bits. I tacked all the models together, played a few games with them and then forgot about them. Recently, I was going through some other stuff to sell on ebay and came across the DV models...

I found a new love in Dark Angels and decided I might try my hand at actually completing an army this time round.

I noticed two of the Terminator figures are the same. To me, it is an annoyance having two figures exactly the same, so I decided to change one slightly. Here's what happened:

Has anyone else tried their hand at changing one of the Terminators? I'd love to see them!

Here a few WiP pics of some simple conversions of the PA duplicate models that came in the DV box.

I wasn't sure how extensive or even if Dark Angels use bionics but after some help in the DA forum and some online research, I decided to put some bionics in but not too much. I really wanted to use up some Iron Hands bits I acquired and add a different element to the minis.

I'm going to GS these guys tonight and make everything as neat as possible. I'll post some more pics tomorrow sometime.

Quick progress update. Sorry for the photos - they are a bit bright.

It took me a while longer than I thought to GS these guys up. Again, I am overall pretty happy with the project so far.

Some things I would've liked to have done better but at the moment, this is the best I can do. The GS around the necks is a little rough but I'm thinking that when I paint them, it can just be a blank spot painted black anyways so it should be hard to spot...Hopefully!

All C&C welcome.

First up, we have the Sergeant. I decided to give him a stylish haircut and a service stud. I'm debating whether to give him a ruined helmet at his feet or a watcher in the dark carrying his helmet...thoughts?

I will get a top view of his hair later.

Next is the Libby, I wanted to give him a BP and practice making pouches. Fortunately, you can't really see the pouch because it's not my best! :)

Now the plasma guy - changed his head so he is looking where he is shooting - and a practice of CS attachment for Bolters - needs a bit of work for next time.

I wanted to try some bionics on the beakie helmet! I like this guy

Side view of pose, he is leaning back a little, I will fix that. Tried making the foot as best I could!

And that's all for now folks!

I'm going to move on to their bases and then give them some paint!!

Thanks for the kind words :D

I was going to do bases but got distracted...I thought "how cool would it be to scratch build a watcher in the dark!"

Well, it was cool, fun and a learning opportunity!

He's not the same as the GW ones, I could have printed a picture of them and used them for reference but it was spur of the moment...at 1:30am. I always seem to do my best work in the early/late hours! :)

Without further adieu, here he is:

I was thinking about putting a couple of cables in the back area of the hood below, it's indented and is screaming for some, thoughts?

Overall, I am happy with the way he turned out, there are a few bits and pieces which could have been different - like the extra large feet? - but that's for next time!

C&C welcome
