Another Day, another Fireteam I was mildly delayed by running out of Agrellan Earth, i do like their texture paints but you dont get much!

As usual, tooled up The Knife on chest thing is something I personally dislike but a mate of mine goes mad for, Trollbait I know Centre is bowling a grenade, hard to see though! Maybe Flat green wasnt the best choice for Grenades :/ Second from the Right came with a slightly mismoulded Pad, so I savaged it and now its battle damage Unfortunately it blends in with the skull which im now considering dropping entirely, usually my freehand Symbols improve over the army and I can tidy the hideous ones later but the Iron Skull isnt clicking and I cant produce it consistently... I think Brass Etch may be the answer...

Next up, the last 5 tacticals with Shields, Im thinking of replacing the iron Skull on their shields with an Eye of Horus. Sound good? I guess we shall see!

My second group with shields, though they will be distributed evenly between the squads. As well as Bolter locked and blazing I wanted to mix in some variety, the one shooting his pistol over the shield was another intended to be throwing a grenade whilst the one in full spin is reacting to someone flanking the line

The usual knives and fun behind The Chap with the horns and Axe is a corporal, potentially a Squad sergeant with power axe if I wanted to run breachers (But not without Grav guns!). The scouts set wires is another thing I wish i had more of, pesky Operative company

Ive tried out a different shield design with these too and I think I much prefer it to the Legion symbol (Badly rendered!) Any thoughts brothers? The Skulls will be chipped too but the yellow needed it more I felt.

Next up the last five and Probably Praetor, though I have been distracted working on an Alpha Legion Seeker platoon... I think I have a problem :P

Thankyou brother, Ive been so inspired by the whole Memoriam thread! :) I tend to paint in bursts of mad enthusiasm and ive currently got a lot of time on my hands!

 

On that note I dug out the other Shield Wielders and redid their facings, compared head to head these just looked a lot better I felt.

Behold My Recon/Forward obs team. The kit is very nice, already festooned with gear and with beautiful weapons. My set had some horrible mould lines though :/ Ah well such is resin and PP have shown me how bad things could be! As gruff loners off from the main body of troops for long periods they are a lot more rough and ready, favouring beards and other non uniform hair and not wearing their Lids.

I kept a few Favourites to the last batch to keep me focused, Especially the one resting his pick but they all have something Im proud of. Im thinking of bloddying all the bayonets now, this tester one looks so good, I dunno if that might be too much though?

And My Warsmith :) Ive tidied up his eyes since the white dots appear invisible here! A few other bits to tidy but im generally quite happy with him. Except the Legion symbol, i tried a few different patterns with these guys and I still couldnt get it looking consistent. Im definitely thinking brass etch at this point, hopefully not too long to wait!

The Recon Team is currently drying out from its undercoating (Along with the Alpha Librarian) but I may get some of the fort guns done next, see how things turn out and whether our civ game gets going or not!

Been spurred on to put in a big spurt on the Recon squad (After Civ died again :/ ). Inks are drying now, cloak is darker than id like but I may leave a version of the dark faces, looks kinda sooty/cam paint what do people think?

Recon squad done! (Though i may tweak their heads a bit...) pretty happy with how they came out, a bit different to the line squads :) Even their Iron Skulls seem to have worked better! Ive also started sorting Unit marks and rank badges. These Guys are 4th Recon (Or possibly Sissi) so are slightly different to the rest who are now XVth Storm platoon, which just seemed closer to what ive actually built!

Just to show im not dead, some WIP on fortifications, theyve been base coloured and inked, im thinking of some more dryrushing on the slabs to pick them out though as they have blended together quite nicely! :/

There are bunkers/Turrets for everything but some need some superglue love (Which i finally got ahold of today!) . Painting wise I wanted them to look heavily weathered, carted from Trenchline to trenchline on a hundred worlds the bulk would start to rust but the guns themselves would be kept fairly clean.

The Concrete Slabs are a recent addition (Given their temporary nature) so are a lot less weathered and also have a sand brown mixed into the Grey, to tie them a bit closer to the sand that constitutes their base ;) 

Im going to Varnish them up once the weather clears a bit (Terrain always gets a kicking for some reason...) then I may have a play with weathering powerders to dusty them up some :)

Not yet I dont (Muahahaha) The Turrets were fairly easy, the Skullllz were purely optional. Some of the other bunkers not so much :/ I imagine the Practical Iron Warriors just nailing the slabs over the OTT gothic detailing

On that note ive been plunging on with the Trenches, mostly done prior to a wash (But im wearing too nice a t-shirt!). I do need to mix some filler to blend the front facing a bit, itll be a mini dune and cover some of the random corpses (I mean the smell!)

Thanks again, I did think about sticking some loyalists on there but I figured at this point in the age of Darkness the Iron Warriors were still fairly "civil". Though I may do later...

And cos I hate contentless updates :D The dune on the front face is about half done, everything is slow drying at the mo though! Needs an ink across most of the thing, then sealing to do some hairspray weathered hazard stripes on the decking :)
