Very nice! The new addition of earth to the battlements definitely adds to the trench/siege warfare look.

 

As for any possible future add-ons (or maybe an objective marker) to the battlements, why not try flying some enemy banners. Just have multiple banners flying together. Each bullet ridden-burned, and then defaced waving from the Iron Warrior's line as a statement of "These men tried and they all failed". It is a bit more "civil" than nailing corpses to things.

Now i am imagining an Iron Warrior spraying a grass field with some warp tainted bondo fiberglass resin. Why? To make each blade of grass into a deadly, pointy weapon.

It would have been made from an Imperial Fist banner taken from the Siege of Terra. I was thinking the amouny of yellow and black could make it pass off as hazards until closer inspection.

Thanks again again ;) We currently play a few games on green fields, plans are however afoot to sort out a cracked desert table for our club (And posing on!), the board is bought just squabbling over how to do it currently :D

Oh and the tourney! I figured a separate post would be better than a very long super edit...

So we had an informal Tourney today, 1500pts 40k, no escalation or Stronghold assault but Heresy Lists allowed (Albeit without LoW obviously). I had three excellent games against some fun opponents and came joint 2nd overall, very narrowly losing out on Joint first place! Fun day though :D

And the Tyranid Horde!

The Nids rolled forward into a savage barrage of brutally accurate bolter fire and the finest Apothecaries in the entire Legio Astartes kept marines on their feet that really should be twice dead! IN the end both sides suffered horrendous losses but the Tyranids Synapse web was broken and the last remaining creatures scuttled for the shadows.

Second game was against an Ork (Semi) Horde

The Tactical Squad squarely sat on the objective before rolling out to kill basically the entire Ork Army themselves.

As one of my Veteran squads was swiftly overwhelmed

And the heavy Support squad were helpless against the Battlewagons sturdy armour.

But fortunately like I said, the Praetor and Tactical squad slaughtered everything they touched and cleansed the Orks entire offensive force, with the death fo the Warboss in single Combat with my Praetor finally breaking them. 


Games 3 was an intimidating start, with 250 cultists and Plague Zombies this army was dominating the talk running up to the competition (And may explain the Anti Horde meta I saw!) and at this point it had already eaten 2 armies, including a Codex Marine horde army... Needless to say we laid in crates of extra bolter ammo...

But in the end the line held, unfortunately I forgot you cant score 2 objectives with 1 squad this edition and lost at the end of turn 4 due to time! Im confident I had it sewn up though (And it was my own fault for having to disappear for 20mins mid game). But I did kill far and away the most zombies of anyone, close to 200! :) (Next best was 90 odd).

And with that this latest campaign was over and the dust settling... Of course now theres talk of a huge Apocalypse game, using our groups whole gigantic Iron Warriors army ;)

The Hairspray weathering I attempted on them didnt work (Apparently I used the wrong type of gloss :/ ) but I improvised with a pan scourer and it seems to have worked alright in the end, at least the weahering powder hides it :P I wanted much heavier wear on the hazard stripes, but possibly for the next set eh?

My superglue ran out just as I finished these badboys! This should be enough to get those Pesky Iron Hands/World eaters ducking :)

I had meant to be more adventurous with the crews but they are only 2 part models so decided it would be best to just have them focusing on firing the big guns ;) Im considering popping on a dozer blade or other bits but then they wouldnt fit my case :/ Also, no superglue! But heres the basic frames at least.

I can report the new red tubes they sell in Tesco contain sod all Superglue too... Fyi.

Some progress on the crews, plus the Vox Mast I found digging through my tank spares box :)  Annoyingly my Secret Weapon black ink ran out so ive tried Badab black, unfortunately the mix has come out a lot browner than the others :/ Hopefully itll come out in the wash! The Tanks are also sprayed, though my Metal spray exploded mid coat, which caused some issues (This is clearly the month of expiring paint products :P ).

 

Ill hopefully get the crews finished sharpish then on to the meat!

Well, that's an easy question. When considering phosphex or not, just think of this: do you want to blow your enemy's fortress up with regular old boring shells? Or, do you want to leave their fortress a smoldering, ruin, with toxic sludge puddles, and melted metal?

If you want to kill every living being, go phosphex.

Ive been horrendously busy the last few days but managed to squeeze in finishing up the Medusa Crew (Though as usual the camera has shown my some cockups!). Im hopefully going to squeeze in a game against my compatriots Iron Warriors Wednesday or Thursday too, at least if we can get our gaming rooms new shelves done with alacrity!

A Predator Exterminator with most of the options will start the next company of Alpha Legion Predators, possibly the Company command tank... The Scorpius is mostly finished in its new Iron Warrior colours (Below).

I also gained part of the Iron Warriors army my Buddy built (As shown in the first post of the topic ) Unfortunately hes turned to a filthy Iron Hand player (Booo) but I got the bits that werent in his new list (And another mate got the Brass Scorpion). The Top squad was a Primarch Honour Guard for Perturabo, the Second a Siege Berserker squad. Both special units from the excellent but defunct Tempus Fugitives packs that should be rebuilt into probably a standard Terminator squad, possibly a command squad and/or some characters. The former is a lot more likely now Golg is loose...

I also finished the Comms array but managed to forget to picture it! (Doh) Fortunately I did get pictures of the rest of the terrain!

Have you read the new IW fluff? The Stor Bezahk usually send the dishonorable marines to the destroyer sub company to handle the phosphex artillery :)
