Making a miniature stronger? How?

I have a miniature with lots of little spikes and spines, I'm worried about them breaking off so is there a special paint or varnish or something that I can apply at the beginning that will reinforce all the little delicate bits without stuffing up the detail?? Cheers in advence!

Nothing that wont snuff out the detail, no. The best you can do is apply varnish to protect the paint on said detail, and pin any large detail's in place (horns, etc).
