Rune Priest Rhapsody +Heresy in Disguise - Falconer+

Recommended Posts

@Deathspectersgt7 : Thanks a lot!! I am quite pleased with him as well!! He's not really a HQ I will end up using often, but I could not resist the call to build him!!

@forte : I got it already!! Went to the local RC car/plane/train shop and bought lots of varying gauges of wire and stocked up on plasticard sheets and tubing!!

@Daemonclaw : Of course that's the only reason I post stuff here!! msn-wink.gif I do like feedback, however... Go figure!! There is no head underneath, I cut the top off of the power armored wolf shaped helmet and fit the wolf skull atop it. Thanks for the positive feedback, it certainly helps me move forward!!

So here's the thing. I have not been in a painting mood as of late. Hence the lack of painted models thus far. Bare with me though, as you all know we can go through 'funks' as our moods change. I am not the most accomplished painter, and more importantly I have ocd and adhd for real, so perfection is always barking in my head. I don't always achieve it, but I try!! We all do, right??!!

I have 4 Thunderwolves to assemble now, and my 3000+ points of Space Wolves are built!! Not painted mind you, but I still feels really good to finally reach the end of an army!! Of course with the new codex out later this year, all that will probably change... smile.png

I've been plodding away on the Word Bearer marines as well. But I am waiting on shoulder pads *cough* for them. The Nurgle daemons have been vexing me. The planned hands for the Heldrake are much too small and now I am searching for a replacement pair. Any suggestions for a right and left hand that is roughly twice the size of the WFB Giants?? Daemon Prince has been sitting in his jar as well, staring out at me. Beckoning for me to free him from his glass prison!! I might succumb!!

I also have a thread in the Chaos Space Marine sub-forum called Tears of Night + the 111th Company+, it is my Night Lords thread that I will more likely than not merge into this thread to keep things organized for my brains sake!! Here's the Linky ----> http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286366-tears-of-night-the-111th-company/

I have Menerva primed and a base coat of Dawnstone down. I also hit her with 2 layers of Nuln Oil, trying to darken the underside and her nooks and cranny's!! Syndahl is also coming along. I received the bit I needed for his right arm the other day, so he will make an appearance soon as well!!

Enough of my babble.

So to continue on with my recent draw to finish all of the TDA Space Wolves, I have been piecing together a wolf lord. I've had a lot of fun so far with this guy. He's got the chaos lords legs, the sweet ass Forge World TDA torso, and some random bits to begin to fill him out and give him so character. The only thing is, I don't want to over shadow Logan. As the main man of my army, I want him to be the obvious leader of this pack of wolves. Here is my Logan:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K004-11.jpg

And here are the WiP pictures of the second in command. I have yet to name him:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K001-12.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K002-12.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K003-12.jpg

So I am thinking at this point, I will call him good as I already like him a lot. He's got a lot of character, which I feel has a lot to do with his head and pose.

And here's the last of the 35 Wolf Guard in TDA:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K007-2.jpg

Here's a little bit of history. I have been working on my Logan Wing army for about 2 years now. This might lead you into the way I work on things. I am literally chasing puppies one minute, and riding bikes the next. Plus I really wanted this army to have a cohesive but stock look to it, with only the main players really standing out. So with a lot of celebratory glee, I am proud to have this part of my Space Wolf army assembled. Now to get the bug back and paint some of these feral creatures!!

I got a couple more Word Bearers assembled as well. They are not anything special either, and not really worth sharing at this time. But I'll give you some teasers soon, I promise!!

Thanks for poking your head in!!

I thought I would get a 'group shot' of the terminators.

Front row Left to right:

Rune Priest Rhapsody in his Runic Armor, Logan Grimnar, Arjac Rockfist, and Wolf Priest Finvid Skarldad

Far Left:

Lone Wolf with 'Chainfist' and Storm Shield and a Ass Can / Wolf Claw wolf to swap out in needed.

Packs from left to right:

Flamer pack with 2 combi flamers and 2 vannilas

the other 4 packs are all - CML, combi melta / axe, combi melta / claw, combi plas / axe, combi plas / claw

They all have drop pods that I am still acquiring / assembling.

So now that's completed, I am going to focus on my Nurgle Daemon Prince and the Nurgle Heldrake!! Look for those soon!!

Here's some more pics and a bit of rambling for you.

I am playing the waiting game for my new goodie!! A Imperial Knight!! I will be adding it to my Space Wolf army, and hopefully GW won't completely shaft the evil side of me and I can bash one up for the Night Lords further down the line... We'll see. So much for the part of my brain that wanted to finish some f these projects before starting something new... That side's weak, and should be eradicated.

So I couldn't bring myself to finish the single model I vowed for this years SW Pack Expansion. I got the guy built, primed, and some base colors blocked in. But then the nasty adhd bug kicked my teeth in again and told me that painting is boring in comparison to building!! Thanks to Mav for keeping that tradition strong year to year, and congrats to all of those who did Russ proud!!

I got the bits I wanted to finish Syndahl (minus the shoulder pad) and get him tacked together and set atop an also began and unfinished paint jobbed, Menerva.

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K001-14.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K002-14.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K003-14.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K004-13.jpg

I still need to finish the GS word on the scabbard and add some additional hair hanging from it around the skull. After that it will be shoulder pads, primer, and finally paint. But that could happen next year for all I know!! ha ha ha ..........

Next up are the Word Bearer marines. They are awaiting shoulder pads and back packs.

Here's the Melta dudes:

Plasma dudes:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K011.jpg

This guy... I wanted to have an over all speaker slash banner slash parchment strewn look to the army. This guys just got a big ol' speaker system. Invite him to your next party. I dare you. :

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K012.jpg

I got out the GS and worked on Canis's head a bit tonight as well. Here it is in two stages:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K005-10.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K007-4.jpg

I'm pleased with it so far. I'll be waiting for this round to dry before I decide whether or not it's finished.

Lastly, here's the beginning of my Night Lords Cultist blob. I'm waiting on some arms which should be here by weeks end. The Vox head was perfect for my vision of them being mind controlled slaves whos basic brain function have been commandeered.

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K014-1.jpg

That's all for now.

Well, it's been a while since I last posted in here. I've been busy cleaning my new knight. I'll be adding it to my wolf army, so it will get a good amount of pelts and such. But more on that another time. I've been focusing on my Space Wolf army as of late. 2 boxes of Thunderwolf Cavalry 5 more Fenrisian wolves and 4 drop pods to finish the project off! Man, you have no idea how excited that makes me!! I'll still add to the army, but once this last push is over, I will have access to every unit in the current codex that I want to use!! Some of you may be saying "big deal", but for me this is monumental!! As the title says, I have attention deficit hyperactive disorder, and that's not just a joking statement. So finishing projects like this are really hard for me, and yet inspirational as well. This would be why I have been focusing on the sons of Russ and not my Word Bearers and Night Lords. I have dinked a bit with both armies, building this and greenstuffing that, but the majority of my hobby time has been spent building the afore mentioned TWC.

Here's my Canis Wolfborn:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K001-15.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K008-3.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K009-2.jpg

Here's Wolf Lord #1:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K002-16.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K004-14.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K003-16.jpg

And Wolf Lord #2:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K016.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K017.jpg

Powerfist:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K010-2.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K012-1.jpg

And the other 2 guys:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K014-2.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K015.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K013-1.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K005-11.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K006-9.jpg

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K007-5.jpg

So this guy is the 3rd Lone Wolf of my army. I have magnetized his right arm and am currently constructing a power axe and wolf claw to go along with his pictures thunderhammer:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40K019.jpg

So none of these models are 100% finished. I still have gaps to fill and a little bit more knicknacks to add to the lords. Also, the maisl just arrived and my 4 Drop Pods are here!! So Logan and his hommies got rides now!! Look for the last 3 TWC and the drop pods soon!! And after that, it's time for the Knight!!

good job on canis though in the second picture he looks like he is about to topple (though it could just be camera angle)

great job on the whole army as it looks very characterful and looks like a lot of thought was put into each bulid

Thanks guys, it's nice to get a little encouragement now and then!!

@deathspectersgt7 - I recently received the 'com arm' bits form the FW Master of Signal that I will be using as the 'controller' of the cultist squad. But with the new IG (or whatever they're called now) release coming up, I am waiting for that to see what kind of cool arms and bits I can glean from them. So basically, I have made no progress on them at all!! I am also waiting for FW to kick out more cool NL stuff (like the new heads and torsos) before I get too involved with that project.

@daemonclaw - I wanted Canis to look as if he is in motion, leaning to the side to swipe at a foe. So I did position him slightly off center. Do you think it's too much?? I love the wolf helmets and back packs, so I really wanted to tie this part of the army together with a very strong wolf feel to it. Since, as you stated, they are the wolf riders!!

I only have one bare head repeated in the entire army, which was on accident, but it's too late to pop it out as they've been painted already. And I have a Runic Armor AND Terminator armored version of me, my name here on the B&C, Rune Priest Rhapsody as well. So I greatly appreciate your comment about the amount of thought that I DID put into my army. It's probably been too much at this point, my wife would argue!!

Today's been spent so far shaving sprue lines on the last 2 TWC and deciding on what to do with my drop pods.

Here's a question for you all - I have read 3 different 'how to's' on magnetizing the doors on a drop pod to help keep them shut and also keep them from closing so tightly, you need a knife to pry them open. How difficult is this to do?? Is it worth the time you spend on taking these extra steps?? I want my army to look good, so no rubber bands will be used in the holding shut of these doors!!

No pics today, I'm charging the camera battery. Plus I have only finished the rough build of one more TWC, so I'll hold off and post the last 3 together, once they're finished.

Well, I need a little more motivation for my current undertaking, and I thought I would resurrect this old thread of mine instead of starting a new one.

On the subject of my Night Lords project. It still pulses from inside a dark place awaiting it time to resurface and mutilate countless lives.

But for now, I am focusing on painting my Space Wolves. I have so many of them and so little of those many are painted. So until I have made a seriously large dent in my painting backlog, I will not allow myself to touch my Night Lords, or my Angels Encarmine detachment.

So with that being said, I am scurrying off to paint some terminators.

Here's what I currently am focusing on. This is my disorganized work space. I had this epiphany that if I worked towards a 1500 point army that I would serve as my core for games that size and up, I could then work either a pack at a time, or 250 point increments. So my 'base' force is 3 five man TDA apcks, 3 drop pods, 10 Grey Hunters, a BlizzDread, and the Wolf Lord. There is also a pack of Long Fangs and a TDA Rune Priest, but those are both painted already.

Pictures!!

That's the point at which I will start this thing up again.

If anyone who happens to be reading this has a pot of Necron Abyss foundation paint, PLEASE message me if you are interested in parting with it. It's the color that I use for my armor, and I am rapidly running out of it!! Cheers!!

Welcome back. I thought I had a pot but looking I don't I have it. Still have the other colors now I'm baffled.

Thank you, sir!!

Well a little more progress on the Wolf Lord. Started doing some blending on his armor.

Working on this guy too

Upon getting a hold of Glottkin SUPER cheap, I am moving forward on my Nurgle army. On the side, of course... I pulled out the Typhus model I've been sitting on. I am converting him as well. i want some imput. Which hand positioning??

The 'I am pulling dead bodies from the earth to fight on again' hand:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40k001-8.jpg

Or, the 'I am casting a horrid hex upon your living flesh' hand:

http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac194/Khyron666/40k002-7.jpg

More stuff soon.

how are you doing the rest of the model?

While I think both hands work, I think the "arise zombies" one is better for a more static look to the scythe, while the "hex on you" for a more aggressive posing of the scythe.

The scythe will be up and down. I have decided the 'arise' hand is the one, as he will be creating zombies. But thank you none the less.

Nice! Really looking forward to this!

Is that a Novation you have on your desk too...!?

I hope you enjoy yourself while you're here!! And yes it sure is!!

I worked on Typhus a bit tonight, still waiting for the GS to dry a bit more to smooth out the tubes on his arm.

Here's a small blurb-

Still quite daunted by the immense number of models that I have built over the years and have neglected to paint, I am finding it difficult to manifest my motivation. With Wolf Guard Terminators, or TDAWG as I like to refer to them, being by far the largest portion of my unpainted force, I am starting with them.

Through my readings online I came across an article describing how the author motivated himself to stay on task with daunting projects, like my own. And the single thing that stuck out for me was this- Build a list that can be the core of what you will build off of. A rough list that holds units that you will more often than not, bring to the table. So I have done that and really it has narrowed my hindrance. Here's the rough list I am working towards:

Wolf Lord in TDA (aka George)

Bjorn the Fell-Handed

Blizz Dread #1

Blizz Dread #2

5 TDAWG with storm bolters and power swords or storm shields and an assault cannon

5 TDAWG with combi-meltas, power weapons, storm shields, and a cyclone missile launcher

5 TDAWG with combi-plasma, power weapons, storm shields, and a cyclone missile launcher

4 TDAWG all hammernators for the Arjac Superfriends formation

I've begun my work on the Lord, as you have already seen. I built my second Bjorn after some little muther :cusser stole my first one. One Blizz Dread has paint on it, the other is about 75% built. All the TDAWG that I own are based, primed, and have the blue down over their armor plates. I have made progress, but I guess it's not fast enough to make me happy.

I've tried assembly line tactics, with some positive response. I started with 5 TDAWG at a time and then moved it down to three. It's far to easy for me to hyper focus on a single model thanks to my adhd and ocd. Those two things don't certainly do me any favors when sitting down to my desk to paint!!

I play music while I paint. So you'll notice the song change regularly. I note what is playing at the time. I like metal. A lot.

Alright there you go, for now.
