Konor
The planet had almost gone silent from the Astropath network overnight. Squads had been sent one by one from Space Wolves, Sons of Orar, Hawklords and several other Chapters. As they had been sent in contact had been lost. Eventually authorization was given for the Entire Third Company of Ultramarines to be sent in to investigate and retake the planet. The planet according to record resembled ancient Terra, a beautiful Blue and green marble, a true wonder of the Imperium. However when the Ultramarine battlefleet exited the warp all they found was a Sickly green mudball. The Dramatic change to the planet did not stop the Company from beginning its assault. The drop was done in from the beginning. The vox's cut out as soon as the Thunderhawks entered atmosphere. The Auspex cut out not long after. The planet seemed to revolt at this attack, Lightning zapping and scattering the Ultramarine forces. Drop pods slamming and sinking into the thick wet mud. Land raiders and Predators falling into the viscous diseased earth. The entire company was almost lost within the first ten minutes of the mission. A freshly minted Sergeant was the only reason the Third Company started to pull together. http://i.imgur.com/z6wRohD.jpg Over the next two weeks the New Sergeant began to gather and rally the lost men. It started slow, the unending rain making the task almost impossible. But slowly the sergeant gathered a whole squad here, a single Land raider there. The small force could feel the eyes of others upon them, however no amount of scouting or looking could find any other being. All there was on this planet was the rain and the mud. After a time the morale of the small force had begun to waiver until they found their Company Ancient. The banner however had changed. Some believed this to be a gift of their Primarch, something to let them know their cause was just. http://i.imgur.com/7PNXW4u.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NuGF5bE.jpg http://i.imgur.com/685g3Bf.jpg After two months of nothing but the rain and the mud the Ultramarines of Third Company finally ran into their first enemy combatants. The slow slog thru the soaked earth heard the sound of Bolter fire. They followed the sounds of mass reactive fire until they ran into a Golden figure and a giant shadow fighting off what seemed to be figures made out of the diseased mud. A short but intense close combat banished the Daemons back to the Warp. The small fighting force was overjoyed with who they found, The Venerable Ironclad Dreadnought Relmus. The entombed Battle Brother had survived the fall from High orbit but had taken heavy damage to his Hurricane Bolter attachment. http://i.imgur.com/GDajXnU.jpg The other Marine the Company had perchanced to save was the Current Company Champion! Konor Leandros. A relative young choice for the Champion slot but the young Marine had proven himself on several fields of battle. The Sergeant turned command of the small company over to Konor and until such a time as a higher rank could be found Konor found himself named Brother-Captain of the Fighting Third. http://i.imgur.com/IPfulFH.jpg And so it went for several weeks, The Brother-Captain and the Sergeant scoured the decaying cities for supplies and shelter against the unending rain. Suddenly after weeks of silence a signal punched thru the white noise in the vox. Imperial guard and PDF forces had survived whatever had happened to the planet and had dug in seventy kilometers away from the Thirds current position. Xenos and Chaos forces were bearing down on the Imperial guard forces and they were calling for any Imperium forces. The Codex Astartes says you can march an Astartes Warrior 56 Kilometers in a day and still have them be Combat ready. The Brother-Captain pushed his men the extra 16 Kilometers despite the mens warnings he was breaking a tennant of the Codex. Konor said he would readily pay the price when they made it back to Macragge and Chapter Master Calgar. Despite the Company's fatigue the Ultramarines quickly began to fortify and do what they could to effect the upcoming battle. The Local guard and PDF forces were a sight for Sore eyes. An entire company of Heavy armour was in place to batter the enemy before they could even approach. http://i.imgur.com/42Z3mld.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oR7gh0W.jpg Konor spoke with several of the Guard Commanders trying to determine what was going on the planet and who they would be fighting against. The Commissars and Generals spoke of a Warp storm that had encircled the planet and several Warp portals opening up on the planets surface. The portals dropping Eldar and Tyranid spores and monsters of the Warp in the same manner as the Ultramarine entrance. Scattered and fragmented, as if they were being dropped like garbage and less as an army. The guardsmen then spoke of the rain and the mud that began to form afterwards. The Mud and the rot starting to eat thru the soles of their issued boots. For weeks the Units of Imperial guard had taken more loses to gangrene and disease then the enemy could shoot. The Commissars had started making Personal hygiene and failure to change dry socks and boots a excutionable crime. Konor took note of this as he finished preparing his men for the upcoming battle. The endless rain plinking off his helmet as he looked out as the assembled masses ready to kill all of his men. http://i.imgur.com/jCBHNMR.jpg http://i.imgur.com/TCI8jYB.jpg http://i.imgur.com/IseHPiP.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mHzRzHd.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KnXisbz.jpg The fighting was intense, The rain unceasing. For four days the Heavy armour pounded the enemy lines. In the Guard lines the eardrums of several units popped from over pressure caused by the nonstop barrage. The artillery chewing up Xenos Scum and Chaos alike. Yet it was not enough, Thru the fire and the Las shots the Enemy came steadily closer. The forces of Chaos were trapped in a vice between the Imperiums guns and the Hive of Tyranids claws. They chose the mercy of the Lasgun over the feral chop of the Tyranids. Perhaps the Commander of the Heretics thought they could punch thru the Imperium forces to safety, perhaps their minds were just addled from the Warp or perhaps The forces of Chaos wished for a death only a Astartes could give them. Whatever the reason the Third was happy to end the lives of the charging army. There was a small gap between one of the heavier fortifications and a rock wall. It was the weakest point in the Imperium line. It was why it was defended by the Sons of Gulliman. Ultramarines packed to the man, Ready to turn away the mutant, they psyker, the Xenos. They fought beneath a statue of one of their brothers, They would not falter in his sight. http://i.imgur.com/JSn8DoA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/685wVCC.jpg Soon Mutant wolfmen began to pour into the gap. The marines remembered a story of Ancient Terra where 300 men held the pass against a larger foe and so they lived the same way as their ancient brethren. Fierce and unrelenting. The Ultramarines held the Hot gates where lesser men and Astartes would have broken. The scouts attached to Third Company, pulling the Mutants from their vile steeds and killing them dead. http://i.imgur.com/m27ZELe.jpg http://i.imgur.com/eMcaXGw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wXPcsPd.jpg The forces of Chaos began to break into the lines of the Imperium, falling on them like water on rocks. Still the big guns of the Emperor never tired. The swarm of Xenos at Chaos's feet began to swell into the lines of both armies. It was madness, Las cracks, Bolter booms and the clang of weapons hitting against ceramite and chitin. http://i.imgur.com/GtQFWa0.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Dw5Mpus.jpg http://i.imgur.com/PBsSmr4.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HsM7Mjo.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qzT2e6P.jpg Amongst the Chaos of the battle found himself Scout Sergeant Nikalos. He had followed the Vox Signal for Kilometers before he found himself swept up in the battle. He fired his heavy bolter, He slashed with his combat knife. He brought death to Xenos and Chaos alike. Outnumbered and surrounded on all sides he expected an honourable death this day. But he found the enemy all but ignoring him in an effort to break the Imperiums lines. He soon found himself near the Commander of the Chaos forces leading the charge into the Imperiums fortifications. He quickly lined up his Heavy Bolter and fired into the Chaotic Champion. The mass reactive bolts seemed to just be bouncing off the Deamon infested Astartes. He locked eyes with his killer and continued to unload upon him. As soon as the Warlord was upon the Scout Sergeant a flash of Black Feotid Gore showed the Ultramarine. A round had found its mark and wounded the Traitor. The Scout Sergeant realizing his good luck finished the Warlord off with a quick slice of his Combat knife, Removing the Enemies head entirely. http://i.imgur.com/kH6W6fC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mr4DyfA.jpg The battle waged for Several more days. The Xenos tearing into the Chaos and Imperium forces alike. After a time even the Endless rain had trouble washing away the Blood that soaked into the ground. The Ultramarines had stood their ground, watching as the Guardsmen and PDF forces slowly wore away to attrition. The heavy guns firing slower now. The Guardsmen stood til the inevitable end mumbling their prayers to the God-Emperor and several of Imperial saints. Eventually the Guns stopped and the Ultramarines were on their own. Enemies falling in on all side but one. Brother-Captain Konor finally gave the order to retreat. The Astartes would know no fear but they would not throw their lives away in an unwinnable battle. The Third had come here to save the planet and By Gullimans blood they would do it! The Company made a quick retreat, Land Raider Invictus covering their escape back into the ruined cities and muddy plains. The Marines of Third fell back solemnly into the routine they had prior to the battle. Scavenge for parts, ammo and food to keep them fighting ready. One morning they heard the Whoosh of an overhead aircraft. The remaining scouts quickly followed the sound and located the aircrafts landing point. It was a Stormtalon of the Novamarine Chapter. The Third quickly made contact with the survivors, although there was not many. A single Tech-marine and a Single Sergeant of the Novamarines remained of the small squad the chapter had sent. They had gathered up a lost Marine of the Genesis Chapter as well and had been engaging in Guerrilla tactics harrying the enemy where they could. The small force joined up with the Third adding their firepower, As Ultramarine Successor Chapters the New Marines easily fell into line with the Rest of Third. Strict adherence to the Codex Astartes did not make Space marines unable to think outside the box as some such as the Space wolves thought. It taught them how to work in a coherent group no matter the situation. The Genesis Marine already knew how to work and what to expect with this Battle Brothers of Ultramar as he had the same training inside his head. http://i.imgur.com/TLsnrzk.jpg http://i.imgur.com/je6yzng.jpg The growing fighting force would avoid direct combat where it could. The Xenos and Forces of the Warp seemed to be multiplying each day. All manner of bodies and Broken Vehicles were scattered around the cityscape that Brother-Captain Konor knew should not be on this planet. It was a rare event in Imperium history that most major factions he could think of would be on one planet. At most It would be Orkz, The Imperium and maybe another such as the Elder Xenos or the undying Necrons. But as the Third wandered thru the mud they would find the burning Wreck of a Dark Eldar Speeder or a trashed Ork Gargent. Even in the distance Konor could see a Imperator Class Titan sworn to the powers of Chaos. Something was drawing People to this forsaken planet. Konor reached down into the mud to pick up the helmet of a Tau Fire warrior. Even an honourable Enemy such as the Tau had been drawn here. There was Warp Sorcery at work here, even if Konor could not yet prove it. The Mission mark had just passed three months on the Terra Calendar when the Ultramarines of Third heard an enormous explosion. Not soon after the scouts reported to Captain Konor that they needed immediate back up. Elements of the Third made their way to the Scouts position just as a Greater Daemon of Khorn burst thru the ruins of the city. The scouts open fire on the Daemon, the rounds passing thru the creature without a wince or even recognition of pain. Brother-Captain Konor pulls his blade and charges the Daemon. He doesn't even make a swing before he is hit with the Flat of the Daemons axe. His Transhuman biology is tough, His ribcage is one solid piece of bullet proof bone. But yet the Astartes can feel his entire ribcage shatter as he is tossed like a rag doll away. All he can do is watch as the Daemon cleaves one of his scouts in half from head to groin. Its not death the Astartes fears now as he climbs to his feet looking for his power sword. It is the death of the men under his command he fears. Konor falls again, he wounds to great to rejoin the fight. He closes his eyes and repents for his failure. The Daemon lets out an Unearthly roar. A Roar of pain. The Bloodthirster is wounded. Konor opens his eyes and sees a vibrant Blue power sword sticking out of the creatures neck. A flash of blue leaps down from some perch unseen. The men cheer, It is their Captain. Captain Fabian is standing on the red flesh of the Daemon. He grabs the base of the vile creatures leathery wings and pulls. A spray of crimson gore showers the area and the Bloodthirster screams in defiance. Captain Fabian is thrown clear of the monster and lands meters away on his feet. The Daemon snaps its whip at the Captain, the dried sinew made of the fibers of dead warriors wraps around his arm. Fabian grabs the cord with his free hand and yanks. The creature weak from blood loss loses its grip on the whip handle and staggers. The Astartes Captain takes this moment of weakness to his advantage knowing it will not come again. He springs up into the Greater Daemons chest and wrenches out his power sword. The movement cutting the Bloodthirster down the middle, the crimson intestine of the creature falling onto the wet earth. With a puff of salt peter the Daemon monster is banished back to the Warp for a Hundred years. http://i.imgur.com/SGIYJTy.jpg It took Konor almost Three weeks for his Ribcage to knit itself back together from the Blood Thirsters savage attack. He was placed inside the Land Raider to heal while Captain Mikeal Fabian retook command of Third Company. Recently the Ultramarine had come across a lone Sister of Battle. She was confused and did not know how she had come to here. The techmarine took a few moments out of his day to repaint and repair the Sisters armour. She would need to fight as well for there could not afford to be anyone not pulling their weight. She spent most of her time in the Land Raider caring for the broken Astartes. For healing was mostly where her talent lay. Captain Fabian had quickly reasserted himself as the head of Third and had decided he was tired of the endless march and the lack of Centralized command. Consulting the Codex Astartes and what little maps the Company had of the Area, Captain Fabian choose a small patch of Cityscape they could use to hole up and locate other lost Astartes. The place chosen was a small firestorm redoubt in the middle of several Mechancum manufactorums. There was a Medium grade Data Engine there they could use to plot the Ultramarines scattered around the planet and co-ordinate them back into a bigger fighting force. The only issue was that the area had already been claimed by a small Eldar Force. They would have to take the Area by force. http://i.imgur.com/YbY2Y3J.jpg http://i.imgur.com/iwUyVlM.jpg The Battle was quick and Violent. The Eldar giving no ground and the Ultramarine giving no Quarter. The Eldar had to be wiped out to the man as they would give no retreat. The Eldar Avatar appeared toward the end of the skirmish, swatting Astartes aside until only the Ancient remained standing on his feet. The Ancient did not blink, did not Waiver. He leapt to meet the Avatar in Combat only stopping when the Banner of Macragge was buried in the Monster Chest. http://i.imgur.com/l7AaOoL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zCDmn1g.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qitpCIk.jpg The Ultramarines had fought had and won the day. Finally they had a place to rest and regroup, After Three and a half months of the endless rain they had a chance to dry off and scrape the mud from their boots. Slowly but surely the began to gather scattered equipment, Things of important they could use later. http://i.imgur.com/bBp1P8D.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Ua7j7Nc.jpg http://i.imgur.com/eYLy48O.jpg http://i.imgur.com/irGw8hi.jpg Konor slept in the Land Raider tended by the Sister, Fever dreams wracked him. Images of Filth and decay. The Feotid mud seemed to be entering his mind now. Most of the Third had already begun mourning their Champion and cursing the Daemon who did it. Captain Fabian considered giving Konor the Emperor's Peace. Let him sleep the sleep that he so deserved. On the Fourth day of Konor's Fever dream a Figure of light pierced into his mind. A cleanse, a wash, a rinse poured thru him body and soul. Konor awoke with a jolt, over him stood The Third's Librarian, the mans thin gaunt face deep in concentration, His eyes pouring out an ethereal blue light. The Librarian had been drawn to the Company by reaching out into the warp and feeling the Champions taint. He had made as much haste as the Terminator armour would allow. The planet was trying to consume them the Librarian had told them, Body and Soul. http://i.imgur.com/SsJTD7P.jpg One night Konor and a small squad of Marines were performing perimeter checks, They had laid out Razor wire around the entire camp but did not trust the frail wire to warn of them of anything great. What were the chances wire would hold up a Chaos Marine wrapped in thick Ceremite? The squad was checking when a young Marine hardly Seven years since leaving Tenth Company heard a Chatter of Chitin. Quickly he turned around to see a lone Lictor slashing at him. He dodged the first strike, His pauldrons taking the second. The young marine hopped in and delivered a harsh bolter stock blow to the Lictor. Perhaps due to the decaying effects of the Mud or the water logging of the rain the bolter strike smashed the lictor like it was nothing. Konor and a few of the other squads who had engaged in Tyranid Combat before had never seen anything like it. They pulled the Long poisonous claw of the Lictor from its Corpse and fixed it to the Young Marines Armour as a trophy. If they ever found the Tyrannic War Vets They assured the young Marine they would be most Impressed. http://i.imgur.com/xlkxYXn.jpg It started with the howls of a Wolf. Its how the Third new they were not alone. Konor could see the Hulking beasts in the Rain stalking atop the remnants of the manufactorum. For weeks now the creatures had stood just outside of Auspex and visual range. Every Ultramarine there knew the beasts were there but not what they waited for or how many they were. One night as Konor pulled security while most of the Company got proper rest and sleep he could see a hulking creature just outside the Razorwire. It had come close tonight. He approached the wire carefully, wishing to finally get a good look at the creature. Out of the rain stood a creature as tall as an Astartes, Caked in Mud and Blood and Filth. The creature pulled back its lips in a warning snarl exposing its great teeth. The Creature seemed familiar to the Company Champion, Was it? Could it be? One of the first set of Astartes Warriors sent in were the Space wolves. Konor reached into his Saddle bag and pulled out a piece of his Protein ration. He held it out for the creature. The creature moved faster then even Konor's Transhuman eyes could follow. He thought he made a mistake, that he would soon be torn limb from limb by this monster in the dark. But then he was fine. He blinked his eyes watching the dirty animal eagerly lick up any remaining crumbs on the Space marines hand. The creature did not seem quite so fierce anymore, There was a sadness in his eyes. Konor began to pet the Creatures snout. "Good Boy" He said as he watched a second smaller animal trot up. He feed the other animal too. He assumed these were the Famous Fenrisian wolves he had heard so much about. He could see the saddles still attached to the two Wolves back. Their owners must have died and they have been wandering this sodden planet for who knows how long. The wolves must have rightly assumed we were brother to the Space wolves and would not have harmed them. The two Wolves quickly became part of the mix and match family that Third Company was becoming. Marines of Other Chapters, A Sister of Battle and now two Wolves. To the Ultramarines the Wolves were as friendly as puppies, The Larger one content to sleep all day until needed. The smaller one would follow every perimeter check or run with Any squads being sent out to look for more supplies and lost friends. The wolves Ultimate loyalty however fell to Konor. In every minor battle or Skirmish the Wolves would fight with such ferocity. They never ventured far from him when it was time to fight. Konor did not know the names the Space wolves gave the Wolves so he named them after Great Chapter Masters of the past. The larger Older one he named Glomius, the Younger more spry one was named Henricus. http://i.imgur.com/k4l8xVY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4sf7Yvb.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XFiSXfg.jpg http://i.imgur.com/WD67j2k.jpg Slowly but surely more defenses, more razorwire more supplies fell into the Small base. The techmarine eventually got the Data Engine inside the base up and running and a better tactical picture started to be formed. Captain Fabian started calling for the lost Marines of Ultramar to join them. Some would take months to get here. But as Firebase Ultra was seen by lost Ultramarines so to did it start to be seen by the ruinous powers or by a Xenos threat. Firebase Ultra has had to face down several threats and so far turned away all who dare face the might of Gullimans fist. http://i.imgur.com/71VC2Gh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/IQaYj2x.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4JpEfyp.jpg http://i.imgur.com/EPJ4qA6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wgKkWSd.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XuqxT2p.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wUaizOF.jpg http://i.imgur.com/EQ2LuDP.jpg http://i.imgur.com/dsDdkAS.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pwzUIrX.jpg Like all things in this story it came out of the rain. Captain Fabian and Konor agreed. The enemy behind this bizarre planet had shown their face. The mud creatures Konor had fought what felt like years ago now had returned. They were more of a nuisance than a threat but they had to be dealt with anyway. The Librarian had called the creatures Nurglings. They were a vanguard against greater Chaotic involvement. That the rot and what is happening to this planet must be some curse of the Great Unclean one. And as if he was being summoned the Feotid monster came out of the shadows. Pus and blood and all manner of vile liquids trailed behind the Daemon. It laughed heartily, "All things in time fall to Grandfather Nurgle." Every single Ultramarine opened fire on the Decaying Monster, Mass reactive shells passing harmlessly thru, the only effect making more pus and bile spill onto the already unclean ground. "The Word Bearers say you are the standard of Order for which all is judged." The monster dribbled out. "Let us see how long you can stand against the Rot of Nurgle" The Monster took one fat squishy step forward when a giant sword pierced thru the creatures fat belly. The monster Squealed in pain. The bulk of the Daemons neck was so thick he could not turn to see what had hurt him. The Ultramarines inside Firebase Ultra blinked in Disbelief. It was their Blessed Primarch, off of his throne in the Temple of Corrections. He had come to save his Children. The power sword flashed and burned the Great Unclean one open as he pulled it out. Green pus and Purple bile showed the "Primarch" The great Unclean one whimpered a moment as he knew his banishment back to warp was about to start. The "Primarch" took his shield and crushes the Daemons head in. The mud Nurglings poof away as their masters power is drained away. Captain Fabian, Konor, The Sister of Battle and all the assembled marines there fall to their knees in awe. Konor can feel the wet ground shake as the "Primarch" draws near. He bows his head feeling unworthy to view his blessed primarch. The Wolves Glomius and Hericus laid on the mud with their ears flat, they made whining sounds as if afraid. A staccato voice comes out of a Voxcaster. "With combat knife, boltgun, and grenade, the Space Marine shall assail his foe. The chainsword is the will of the Space Marine made manifest. The Space Marine shall master all weapons, and all battlefields. When harried, the Space Marine shall drive his enemies back. The Space Marine will never know defeat." Every Astartes gathered here knew the words by heart. It brought joy to all of them, It was the words of the Codex Astartes. Words to live by. He finally looked up at the "Primarch" Standing over him. It was not Roboute Gulliman. It was...Some sort of Dreadnought he would assume. But there didn't seem to be a Sarcophagus. Infact where he might assume one would be there was a Statue made of Marble. He knew the Statue he had passed it everyday on Macragge. It was the Death Mask of his Primarch. http://i.imgur.com/7Yh2rFq.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ve2XxKA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7g2VULC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7QVocyv.jpg http://i.imgur.com/p03sHRB.jpg While everyone in Third knew that the "Primarch" was not the real Roboute Gulliman, Neither Fabian or Konor could dissuade the men from thinking that Gulliman himself must have sent the thing here and to be honest neither man wanted it to be otherwise. No one in Third could figure where it came from. They all knew it must be Genuine as they had all seen the Statue in its place in the Fortress of Hera just before they left to come here. They had come to call it the Knight Macragge. It was there to keep them safe. In one arm it held a Sword made from Metal of the Macragge's Honour. The other arm held a shield made from a Marble Relief that they once saw in the Temple of Corrections just under the Feet of their Blessed Primarch. The Relief was rather new, it showed a Astartes Warrior in combat with a Tyranid monster. It was commissioned not long after the Hive fleet attack. The back of the Shield was coated in the Codex Astartes. Every line, Every metaphor, Every Tactic. The Knight Macragge was a walking history lesson for the men of Third. But the Face of the Knight is truly what keeps the Third talking. The face is the same as Gullimans as he sits on his throne now. The Marble even has the cut throat where Fulgrims traitorous blade poisoned the Primarch. The Ultramarines are fearless around the Knight, They feel as if they march with the Primarch himself. That they are now men of legend in the Great Crusade. Not a man will falter in sight of their Primarch. The Great Unclean one said that all things eventually fall to the power of Nurgles rot. That will power and conviction are like nothing before his power. The Chaos God has never seen the strength and will of the Ultramarines. They will not fall, They will die, They will know no Fear! Konor does not doubt that this Campaign will be a long, hard one to Endure, but as Gullimans Avatar as his witness this planet will be returned to the Imperiums light! We march for Macragge! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Long ass First post. I started playing 40k about four months ago. I picked Ultramarines cause I knew nothing about 40k and saw the dudes on the fron were blue. Made a few missteps in painting and modeling that aren't real Ultramarines perfect, so I figured I would write the story as to why they are messed up rather then just get all out of shape. Little OCD. But that story is pretty much my story of playing too. Picking pieces up adding them in, Learning to sculpt. The Female Sister of battle is my wife. Konor is obviously me lol. The scout Sergeant is my friend. I keep trying to get him killed in games but he won't die. The two dogs are my IRL dogs. The bigger one is my awesome Battle Shih-tzu. I had alot of fun writing this.I hope you guys have alot of fun reading it, Be gentle I know its not Ultramarine perfect. Konor
Thanks for the likes. I wasn't really keen on Ultramarine lore once I found it out at first but its been slowly growing on me. I inherited 90% of my army from an old friend who primed them all red to make Blood Angels. The only things I have bought for my army so far was the Dreadnought and the Dreadknight Conversion. So I was wondering beside my fluff additions I don't get to really play with what would you guys suggest I buy for my army to round it out a bit more then just six Tac squads and a Land raider lol. I was thinking Rhino or two to move them or maybe a Whirlwind. johnyocum
Rhinos are useful, as would be Devastator squads, to really give you some powerful long-range firepower. Whirlwinds can be fun, but you might want to keep them somewhere that keeps them obscured from most shots, as they're as flimsy as a Rhino when it comes to the armor. Anything in the codex, really, has a use for the Ultramarines. Only thing I'd say about your paint scheme is that the gold trim on the shoulders is 2nd Company, while 3rd would have it in red (like you have the left shoulder on the new Captain model you've painted up to be the Company Commander). Mind you, that's just a little thing that the perfectionist in me noted. Other than that, I like the look, and I'm hoping that I'll eventually be able to get the mud effects right on bases and legs like you've already done. The narrative was fun to read, and I like how you tied it all in.
