A Tale of Texas Gamers: The Hobby Thread

Double post time~! Ok so time to finally finally finally put up the battle report, it's only a week late. So last Sunday of April Honda, Jefe and I gathered at the ever awesome GW Coles Crossing for a rather fun scenario. 1000 Points, corner deployment, single center objective. The roll off went off with Jefe and his blue GK getting first choice in corners, Honda and the zealful BT second, and the November Warriors & I third. Because of the rules, we took our turns in a clockwise manner, and the corner I picked put me in p2. Deployment was also round robin style with Jefe having the least to deploy, I the most, and Honda in between.

Speaking of the zealous Hostile Cart he brought a beautifully painted and modeled contemptor, but it wasn't the only FW on the table. I brought with me a Deimos Predator, and an LR Achilles.

Let me preface this batrep with one thing, it's gonna be full of pictures, light on details, and heavy on snarkasm, also, I apologize in advance for the blurry pictures, I was trying out using a new camera, since my ipad is a pretty bulky thing to use.

So the table was set up for a city fight on the exceptional FW relm of battle Cityscape table.

I wondered if I brought enough armor

Start of turn one saw Jefe jump jetting his way over a building toward the objective

I fired off my whirlwind at Honda's tac squad hiding behind the building, it deflected right into his terminators, killing one.

Honda tried to return the favor I do believe, but it didn't really do much. there was much running towards the objective, I tried to be sneaky and flank from either side (and throwing my own battle plan under the bus by doing so) much to no ones dismay. A few shots from the tank full o' Monkeys fired off a few shots to the deimos, but to no avail.

The Achilles trundled to the Dreadknight, taking a few HP off, but not enough to really do anything.

At some point the BT decided to make a run for the landing pad tower, there may have been some shooting, it may have only killed 1 guy.

Of course the rest of the Apron lovers stayed in hiding [;)]

As we played on there was much shooting, much missing, and a lot of deviated templates. Not only that, there was a great amount of laughing and semi-gentle ribbing. My guys were once referred to as school

bus yellow (ignore that is was by me), comments in regards to aprons, and people who spend their time with monkeys [:P]


The Dread Knight put the kill on the Achilles. Removing a major threat, and making me very sad.

Yeah, my rhino got blew up. more or less blocking the way out for my whirlwind. In fact, both my Rhino's went boom. The part of the squad that did survive took vengance on the DK that killed their ride via

Sgt. Weilding a Combi-Grav. They more or less joined up with the remenants of the demi-squad from the Achilles in doing nothing.

To make matters worse, the Templars had enough with me plinking away at them, so they dropped a building on my deimos. Literally. Unfortunatly we didn't get a picture of that because poor Honda had a look of

worry and shock on his face thinking he may have damaged my venerable old predator. I on the other hand was laughing like a jackal knowing that the deimos would take a lot more than that to damage it (mostly

because it's mostly blue tacked together. Hence why in the following picture you see a foundation, but no building anymore

Fast forwarding a fair bit, after the orbital destruction of some of my assets, I decided to Magna-Melta his dreadnought, (mostly because it was the biggest thing I could hit in my range)

In fact fast forwarding a lot, we had a few more round of combat, it was mostly between Honda and Jefe though, he deep struck in an Assassin that was making a mess of his lines, with Draigo and his assistants moving back and forth around the objective keeping all of us off balance. The game ended in a tie for the BT and the GK. The Warriors were beat pretty handily, but mostly because in retrospect instead of running to the objective like I should have to contest I tried to minimize my losses by shooting from afar. All in all it was a massivly fun game, I look forward to this scenario again, and hope to maybe next time really bring some pain

PS: Apologies for the lack of definitive details, like I said, it was such a fun game that I remember more about the jokes and laughing that who shot what when.
