Kierdale
I'm interested in modelling/painting some frost on the base (including some ruins) of (and as a result of) a Psyker and wondered how others might approach such an endeavour? Simply drybrushing white seems like it would not give a convincing effect... Any suggestions? elmo
Try searching for a military model guide. I found some good weathering techniques when I did. I would give you a link but my smart phone does not have a smart operator ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285967-painting-frost/#findComment-3576461 Share on other sites
Kierdale
Thanks for the advice, Elmo. I'll see what I can Google up. If anyone else knows any good techniques or links, please share ;) I'm looking for something subtle. Frost or very light rime spreading as a side effect of psychic power use. Cygnwulf
Just brainstorming here, and this might be a bit heavy handed but some fine grained ice or snow flocking stuck down with thin painted lines of pva glue might work. The PVA glue itself will tend to lightly frost too depending on the brand you use. Both cases might not work. Another thought hit me as I was typing this Maybe some instead of white go to your local arts and crafts store and get some of the pearlized white paint (that has the iridescent sparkles in it) and very lightly dry-brush. I wouldn't just brush it on but I would try to actually make small patterns with the brushing, so paint a small section with strokes that only go in one direction, then another section with the strokes going a slightly different direction, that might get something of the effect you're looking for. If you play with it, the frosting from superglue (which is worse when an accelerator is used) might also give you the kind of effect you're looking for, but it would take some practice to get it in the spot you want.
