If one were to make some model Hesco Bastions* what size would you model them for 40k?

As I understand it they are made in a variety of sizes. Obviously I'm considering the size of ones used in combat areas, not flood defenses.

An inch? Inch and a half?

Any input would be much appreciated. :)

* see here if you don't know what one is:

Hmm the ones I've seen were bout chest height. Converting this into 40k scale I would of thought a bit less than 1inch, maybe 3/4 of an inch.

But it's really the thickness that counts. You thinking 1 or 2 rows high, and is this for guardsmen or space marines?

Interesting project you doing there. What materials you thinking of using?

Edit: forgot 1 inch = 2.54cm, wh40K is 28mm scale lol.

There are some Hesco bastion for sale, and it looks like Secret Weapon lists the size of their product:

I also found a place that sells wall sections of linked bastions for bigger fortifications

I hope this helps

Ammonius, thanks for those links. I want to make my own, but will take a look for ideas to steal ;)

Seleucus and Cod Lover, I'm wanting to have them block LOS at ground level for infantry*, but wondered if one bastion big enough would look too big. A stack of two, perhaps.

Materials-wise I have some plastic mesh (for gardening, apparently) to use. It needs spraying before it takes paint, it doesn't glue easily, but it's extremely cheap and looks the part. As for the bag inside, I'm thinking tissue soaked in watered-down PVA.

As I understand it Hesco Bastions are usually filled with sand/dirt. I could go the easy route and put tissue-and-mesh covers over the tops of the them (though it seems real world ones are usually open-topped?) and maybe do a couple of ones with their tops open which are in the process of being filled. Stick a spade in one, for example.

Or I do things right and do them all open topped.

Should I ever do a Khorne army I'll have one with the top open, showing it's filled with bones and skulls ;)

* I already have these barricades from FW resin for terrain that can be shot over:

bags need to be at least 1.5ft deep to stop RPGs - given that is effectively what SM carry you'd have to at least do that thickness, possibly more.  I'd also suggest some with rolle homogeneous plate on the sides- the 40K battlefield is high threat in relation to a modern battlefield - there are plenty of heavy weapons carted around by even relatively light troops
