Montuhotep
Morning All, Got a quick query - there is a vogue in armour-modeling circles for what is known as 'Super Detailing' a kit; adding various tricks and techniques to a model tank or the like to bring it more into line with real-world examples of the vehicle. This is often done with the use of after-market parts and so forth. I want to do something similar to my Marine vehicles. Now, I have the FW Masterclass 1 book and whilst there are many lovely things in it, Marine kit is not one of them and so I have no examples to look at to guide me. Anyone have any pictures of their own stuff or advice for me? Thanks in advance. Kaedes Nex
At first I thought you were talking about weathering, because of FW Masterclass and the general description. But when you mentioned aftermarket parts, I got confused. I don't really see this a lot for space marine tanks. Are you talking about adding like, long bendy radio antennas? Camo tarps bundled up and tied to the side of the tank? Fuel canisters? Reactive armor bricks, perhaps? If that's what you're talking about, IG tanks get this treatment a lot, so you can look up examples of those and just use the same bits and techniques for space marines. GumbaFish
Check out this great thread because it has a lot of what you are looking for. Somewhere in there he mentions the types of things he uses as well. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146242-crimson-ultrawings-a-chapter-is-born/?hl=%20ultrawings Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286470-detailing-marine-vehicles/#findComment-3586932 Share on other sites
Hemal
Its easy enough to do - I have after market brass etch padlocks, fire extinguishers, even a couple of .50-cal brownings made out of resin + brass etch, which will all find their way onto my tanks. I also have a couple of after market 1:48 Cromwell tank gun barrels which will replace the autocannon barrels on Predators Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286470-detailing-marine-vehicles/#findComment-3586992 Share on other sites
